2022 Everything Free Agency/Trades Thread

I mean why would they change from what they’ve been haha. Until winning starts to happen or a player steps up who’s worth paying to go see play nothing will change. I’ll be taking full advantage of the low prices in the mean time again this year.

You have to be a blast at parties.
Lolzzz. Dude, we'd have fun over beers.

What's this Barnes coming off the bench I keep hearing? Guy dam near averaged most min on the team last year, shot the final shot of the game 80% of the time and all of a sudden is going on the bench? Don't think so. What's gonna happen is our rookie is going to go on the bench and get frustrating minutes all year.

Speaking of witch why are we giving up on queina so fast. I think he will beast this year if given a chance. Trade Holmes for peanuts get him out of here already

If Philly really wants to shed Tobias Harris' contract, Harris & Thybulle for Barnes, Holmes, and Davis works.

Holmes provides a solid backup for Embiid (which is important if Joel misses a fair number of games to rest and/or injury), Barnes gives them almost the same contribution as Harris for less money and comes off the books next summer, and Davis adds a bit more punch off the bench.

The Kings gain two wings (another 4/3 and a 2/3) but downgrade at backup center and would still have 3 open roster spots for their 3rd string PG, C and (depending on how you primarily view Thybulle) 3rd string SG or SF.
Who would the Kings have for their backup center? I've thought Murray could play some center eventually, but would seem to be a rough road for the rookie.

Why? He will either play or retire. Point is he's so talented you take chances with that guy. To day only Lakers want him is obtuse
I'm sure many teams WANT Kyrie the player, but unfortunately, you also get Kyrie the person. In many cases, the person doesn't impact the player. There are many a-holes and weirdos throughout sports history that support this statement. Unfortunately, Kyrie's decisions as a person impact who he is as a player, and to many teams, they're not willing to take the risk. Nor is Brooklyn looking to unload him at a discount. What team would be left in Sacramento to build around Kyrie?

It's not being obtuse, but rather being logical and recognizing the reality of Kyrie, the person, in addition to Kyrie, the player.

I’m not sure if you’ve watched big Q so far, but dudes lost out there amongst G League / end of roster talent. He single-handedly would bring our team defensive ranking from 27th to 30th this upcoming year.

Good lord haha

Is this gonna be this years "we need Simmons"?

There's no way a head case/diva is gonna get to Sac and THEN decide to stop being an a-hole. Let the Lakers deal with that cancer.
I’m all for adding total headcase risks to this talent starved poverty franchise … and Kyrie is a step too far even for me. There’s no way the reward would overcome the headcase risk.

Maybe I'm just old, but I do remember a guy who litterally got suspended a whole year, fought a whole crowed full of fans being traded here for a fan favorite and it didn't work out so bad for us, in fact most fans where cheering for it. I don't think Kyre is unplayable is all I'm saying. And he played no games because new York wouldn't let him. Let not act like he just sat out just to do it.

FYI I'm just playing devils advocate. I love fox. But we are the Kings if we could add a player like Kyre to the squad no way I'd turn that down because he's got issues

They are interested because they have Westbrook that they want to rid themselves of. Sadly, they might succeed.

Kyrie is a head case, but there is no denying his talent, and as a BB player, he is miles ahead of Westbrook at this point. Brook was not helping the Lakers. Kyrie might. I doubt he cares much for his image or money at this stage (he didn't when the Nets weren't paying him), but he is still a competitor. A healthy Laker team with him and even an ageing Bron would be a threat to most teams in the West.
So the Nets strat would be to become a geriatric version of OKC in the 2010s. Pure genius. I bet Sean Marks has a phone in each ear trying to get that one done.

Absolutely no one is saying Kyrie is unplayable. I think the general consensus is that he's an all-star level player. The unfortunate fact of the matter is that the guy has accumulated so much baggage at this point that most people don't think it's worth having him on their team anymore.

Kyrie missed a full season worth of games combined for Brooklyn BEFORE the whole vax thing sprung up, including knee issues dating back to his Cav days. So I guess if he wasn't missing games for the hell of missing games, he was missing them because he was injured which probably makes things worse? The fact that people don't seem to want to play with him only exacerbates the issue.

The guy's on the wrong side of thirty, is going to be a free agent next year and probably looking for a max contract, and is the loosest of cannons. If this was Lebron or KD or Giannis we were talking about, sure, sign me up. But you don't completely alter the course of your franchise for Kyrie Irving.

Might be worse. They already lost Harden, and are likely to soon lose Durant. They will be left with the old version of only Russ of the Big-3.

Point is not what Nets want or their strategy. It's that stars (and their agents) get their way more often than not. In recent times, Sixers did the most I can think of in terms of penalizing a player. Yet, they too had little option but to trade away Simmons and added compensation for a right to overpay Harden. Durant carried his injury to a huge pay-day with the Nets, and after little to show for the mammoth contract and trust the Nets put in him, might walk away to chase another ring. Teams have very little leverage if a star player wants out. Their can be fake injuries, lacklustre play, and poisonous locker room. If the star vetoes some teams, they don't make offers even when they might be able to give more, since they don't want to import an uninterested star and the problems, while gutting their roster. So, this is no slight to Nets or their exec team. They had created an excellent roster, which, but for COVID, could have gone all the way.

I guess my hopes of getting Moses Brown on this roster werent well thought out.. The Clippers, even with almost 200mil on the books for next season, don't have a backup C anymore..

So why would a player like Brown come here and play on the 3rd string for the same type of $$$

Dave McMenamin @mcten
Former Cleveland Cavaliers guard Matthew Dellavedova is working out with the Sacramento Kings in Vegas, in hopes of making a return to the NBA. Delly played for Melbourne United in Australia last season. He got his NBA start in CLE playing for coach Mike Brown, who is now w/ SAC

I…I…I don’t hate this actually. Shouldn’t see any time anyways, but bring him in to be a little player/coach for the guards on how to play a little D.

Interesting, supposedly the deal for Kyrie to the Lakers is already in place, nets holding off until KD is dealt to maximize return. Expected to all be done in a week.

Cooooooooooool

I know LOLKYRIE always has a chance to go off the deep end, but there’s another team that immediately jumps us if he keeps his head on remotely straight.
