2019 NBA Draft thread

On Justin James: https://www.nbadraft.net/players/justin-james

The 8 rebounds a game is intriguing, even if it is in the Mountain West Conference.

At least Divac didn't draft a guy from Kansas, NC, Duke or Kentucky. Booooooring. But who on the team is this guy going to talk to, anyway?

I'm a Longmire fan. Maybe this kid has some stories about bears, cougars, and dastardly indians.
Kawhi came out of the mountain west conference ‍♂️

If he was 4 or 5" taller he might be in the late 1st round. He looked pretty gritty in his highlights - kind of like a Jon Barry

That's actually a decent comparison. He has some combo G skills but it's mostly out of pick and roll. The Kings need players that can creat opportunities from the pass off the catch, not just a pick and roll.

Just so you know, the Kings traded a big bruising, athletic SF/PF for a 6'2" SG after just drafting another SG. Guy's a decent player, but seriously? And for anyone that thinks tossing 2nd round picks away is excusable, there is a reason teams like the Nuggets and Warriors seemingly "win" drafts.
Name me a 2nd round draft pick on the warriors

The last time the Warriors "won" the draft was when they drafted Kevon Looney, who is... serviceable?

Huh? Jordan Bell got benched this year in favor of Cuz but last year he was pretty good. Draymond is a 2nd rounder. Damian Jones was a part of their rotation. They got Ezeli at 30. They don't overload on position like the Kings continuously do. For the first time in like a decade the Kings made moves last year that made some sense and surprise, the team made some sense on the floor too.

I honestly think the Jimmer experience sorta dropped Guy's draft stock. Not a great ball handler like Jimmer but also doesn't have the crushing expectations that Jimmer did.

Jimmer made it rain. in college ..and I mean pour, but then the NBA came where defense is also notched up.

I don't know much about Kyle Guy. Is he basically a poor man's Jimmer?

Eh? Kind of. Grittier and has some decent length though. People will say Reddick but I'm not sure about that. The NBA has had small, skinny SG's survive but historically the league chews them up and spits them out if they aren't super athletes. They have to find the exact right team and get that Jamal Crawford/Lou Williams role.
