Tropical Island Video Vault Draft - ROUND 20 - FINAL ROUND

I could have gone a different direction with this, but this is one of my favourite movies ever, and I want it on my island. It's not all light and fluffy, but it has harrowing dialogue and a fantastic performance from it's lead actor.
American History X (1998)
This is Ed Norton's best performance IMO. It's a very interesting film which opens up a world or hatred, bias, and a range of other issues.

I would classify American History X as a movie of interest for me that I paused over, but not as one I would want to be stuck watching for eternity. I think I've seen it twice, think its a great film with a great lead performance. But not sure I will ever watch it again on my own. Maybe to show it to somebody. Otherwise can't imagine what mood I would have to be in to say "hey, time to take a load off...hmmm...I'm in the mood for some foul mouthed psychotic neo-nazis! Woot!"
The idea of an island never really comes into it for me. I think it's more of a way to justify this whole process. I just pick the best movies - I think the best movies are always re-watchable. Of course, the best movies is a subjective thing. Nonetheless, I've seen American History X multiple times, and it's yet to get old for me.
I took a risk with that pick, there's a couple others I'd comfortably take over it in terms of enjoyment, but I think this had less chance of making it to my next pick. Oh well. Have to wait and see what happens.

American Beauty and American History X were both favorites of my high school and college years. I'm not convinced of their infinite rewatchability, but they are each quality pictures

So far, even though there's been nothing taken so far that I would have had on my list (except probably Inglorious Basterds, or Grindhouse if it was still hanging out in the late rounds), this bunch scares me way more than the group picking movies last time. Don't know why. It's going to be a loooooooooong eleven picks for me.
Hoping at this point the same forgetfulness present in the last draft carries over to this one.

I've been going back and forth with this choice. I'll go with the blockbuster as it probably will not get back to me. Sure, it may not hold up to 2,075 re-viewings, but the cinematography alone make it a special film, and the story has some basic elements of emotional connection that there's enough substance there to return to. This film was powerful enough to make me retroactively vote for Bozzwell's film in the Make-Your-Own-Movie Draft even without a write-up, given Cameron's power to amaze in the sci-fi genre. With my 3rd pick I select:

I’m going with a film I’m really surprised is still here, Goodfellas. I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to grab plenty of my more obscure favorites in the later rounds so I don’t want to let this one get away.
Few films put you into the inner world of the characters like this one does. Watching it almost makes you feel like you’re part of their crew. It’s great story telling that’s very funny at times, disturbingly violent at others, and overall is just darn entertaining.

Flying home tomorrow, by the way. Suspect it won't take up enough of my day that I hold up the draft for hours and hours (if the snake even gets back to me when I'm traveling, that is), but if no one hears from me until mid-evening California time, that's why. Will make sure to check in when I get settled to make extra sure I don't time out.
