So, I went this weekend to see The Day the Earth Stood Still, finally. It wasn't worth my $11 bucks (plus my wife, plus nachos). It started out okay, if a bit slow, and because I already knew what was going to happen, it wasn't quite as unbearable as it might be if you're wondering what's going on. Anyways, as the ending starting to show itself, it became apparent that the plan was to make the movie unpredictable, and it consequently lost grip of any semblance of reality.
A couple of weeks ago, we went to see Seven Pounds. I wasn't impressed. The acting as always was top notch (Will Smith, Rosario Dawson, Michael Ealy), but the movie tried to be too heavy. It was trying to make you feel a certain way, and it failed at that. It also tried to keep you in the dark, even though it was pretty obvious what was going on, and it caused the plot to be even more convoluted. And unnecessarily so.
