Sacramento thoroughly outplayed the Spurs in the third quarter and led by as many as 18 before San Antonio cut it to 86-73 heading into the final period when Washington swished a 3-pointer from 39 feet out at the buzzer.
“The difference in the game tonight was Beno Udrih,” Popovich said. “Beno was great.”

2 years under the MLE is an insult to what he's done this year. Maybe he is injury prone, or maybe it's a fact of trying to do too much to prove himself to Sacramento, thus pushing when he probably shouldn't. This is his first year playing so many minutes; it's kinda like when the rookies fade late in the year. Who knows. In reality, I'd easily take Beno over quite a few starting PGs.
That contract is too big.We should give him a three year contract at the mle with player option after the second year
That contract is too big.
I think they may mean a team option in this case, not a player one.And I can't speak for anyone else, but if we never gave out another player option, it wouldn't break my heart. They may be fine as a last resort in negotiations which would otherwise be lost, but I see no point at all in giving them away just to be nice.
Ironically it may help us to make a run at him this offseason, although I still doubt we can get away below the MLE.
...and just HOW do you suggest we persuade the other 12 or 13 teams that will be in front of us in the draft NOT to draft him, hmmmm??With OJ Mayo starting at the point next year, there isn't much use for Beno here besides a back up...![]()

...who, Mayo??Well, how about we fake some x-rays that show he has problems with his knees?![]()
