I'm nervous about WHERE we will be selecting... I can't remember the last year we actually picked above where we were originally slotted to given our record, we have only been picking at the same spot or worse
i must admit that i, too, am tantalized by the prospect. i've long maintained that the 'REKE-ISN'T-A-PG!!!!!!!111!!!!!!11!!! chants are so ridiculously inflated, especially given that PG, as a position, has evolved dramatically in the contemporary nba. tyreke will never be a high volume assist man, but he can very effectively run an offense, despite what the detractors say. and if you have a center like demarcus that can occasionally initiate the offense from the high post, and if you bring in a SF who can initiate from time to time, as well (a la doug christie), it doesn't matter so much that you don't have the mythical "true PG" that so many at kf.com have been clamoring for since ricky rubio entered the draft...
I'd definitely trust a proper coach to put a capable offense with Reke at the point. Meaning fixing his tendencies of starting the offense with 12 seconds on the clock, getting the ball up the floor quicker etc. He's shown he's got the handles, floor vision to be an effective passer, but he struggles with other intricacies of the PG spot.
The physical and defensive benefits of having a Reke-Oladipo or Reke(Tony Allen?) type of back-court would absolutely get us in the right direction defensively. Stopping perimeter penetration is a big reason why Memphis and Miami are so damn good defensively.
of parker, i would absolutely agree. of rondo, i'm not so sure. he has a gift for exploiting defenses with the pass, and he's an exceptional man defender amongst guards, but he gives you very little else. he can get to the rim occasionally, but in a league of evolving combo guards, rondo is actually a bit too old school in style, in my opinion. he's also a 7-year veteran. he doesn't have much growing left to do as an nba player. so, yes, if rondo were to come to sacramento, he may very well be instantly recognized as "the best player on our team," but, when considering the ceilings of demarcus cousins and tyreke evans, you have to wonder if such a designation would hold up for long. even tyreke is developing an adequate outside shot (having shot 34% from 3 this past season), whereas rondo is a career 24% 3-pt. shooter...
edit: and this is not meant to dismiss rondo's talent. he's a tremendous player, but, for me, the lines start to blur when you talk about "tyreke+5," etc, when attempting to acquire an established star. often, it's more useful to properly develop your own talent in-house, particularly if that talent exists along the potential of a "star" trajectory. in the kings' case, that means committing to the development of demarcus cousins and tyreke evans, as san antonio committed to parker, as boston committed to rondo. outside of his rookie season, 'reke has not been given the room to operate, to grow, that these other star players have...
Actually, Harris is a PF and Harkless is a SF.

Draft Oladipo. Put 'Reke back at PG. Sign one of Korver/D.Wright. There's options out there if we go the Oladipo route.

I'm starting to become really intrigued by this idea. We could out muscle out rebound and out defend the opposition teams. Kind of the opposite of the way we play now.
However, as MassachusettsKingsFan has been saying in the other prospect thread, it would make me even more worried that the front office see him as a replacement to Evens therefore allowing Tyreke to move on. Basically if this was the route we were going, I wouldnt be happy until Evans has signed on the dotted line (for us).

Harris played PF in college, but has been playing SF in the NBA.

Well, just 173. I remind you, I'm 6/2. And yes, I do set solid screens.

hello Trey Burke
I want to see how he does in workouts. I have a big fear that he's too weak. He's a terrible finished if there's contact. He gets almost all of his points off dunks. Nothing wrong with that if he can be a defensive anchor. Just not sure he can.
I'm a bigger fan of Schroeder and Karesev. They're probably top of my list at the moment.
Michael Carter-Williams and our backcourts set. Goota go for BPA imo
lots of talk the blazers are keen and will trade up to land Victor Oladipo
