Webber being booed by 76ers fans LOUD

I hope Webber gets traded again. But now that the East Coast media has seen him try to play on one leg he will not get traded. Sorry to say he might end up wallowing in misery the rest of his career, which is sad!

Somehow this whole thing seems to have inspired A.I. to spiral into some sort of ballhoggin overload -- its like there is now a threat to HIS ball and now he really IS trying to take every single shot. Its very bizarre. I emna, look at the numbers today:

10-25FG 11-12FT 12TOs
So does that count as a double double?

I wonder how Arco will react to a Webb's miss or shot in the home game against Sixers. Christie won't be playing at Arco again this season, as far as I read, which is sad...

OK, i will say no more. You say anything negative, critical of your players on this forum and people are quick to jump on you. Fine, i guess i'll just turn into a blind homer like majority here, and pretend that everything is fine
Two minor nits to pick:

- Chris Webber is no longer OUR player
- I don't think that anyone on this board is a Philly homer

Your attempts to bring up stats that are not only skewed, but now completely irrelevant are futile. Your argument for the impact that Chris Webber had on a team that he is no longer a part of is not only yesterday's news, but completely pointless. But your desire to beat up on a player that is in a situation far worse than he deserves is just tacky.

Let it go.

iverson is a great player! but like i said before you cant put other stars on his team. especially a star like webber who takes alot of shots aswell. iverson needs role players! he cant have any competition in his camp, but there is no denying the dude plays his heart out every game! yes, he is selfish with the ball but thats just the game he plays. webb is not a good fit in philly they need to trade him in the offseason to a team that will use him for the type of player he is. maybe they(sixers) could get some more role players back in return. best of luck cwebb in your new challenge, thanks a million for all the great seasons, you will truely be missed

I'm a big Kings fan but never a big fan of Webber. It was just that some things in his game would just make me shake my head. Like how he is never clutch (cept those 3pointers), or how he does that pump fake and jumps right into the defender, or that one time he blatently cheated & listened in on the other teams huddle. He's overrated and I'm glad Petrie traded him just as he was gaining some of his value back after wrecking the Kings last season in his return.

And that's relevant to the discussion how, exactly?

He's never clutch except those 3 pointers...

He does a pump fake and jumps right into the defender...

He blatantly cheated and listened in on the other team's huddle...

OMG. You're right. How could we ever have supported such a fiend? He should not be allowed to play in the NBA. What a travesty!!!

As far as Webber being booed, what Sixer hasn't been booed by Philly fans? They boo their own mothers when dinner isn't ready on time. Classless jackasses. (Generally speaking.)

Thankyou for validating the way I feel about Philly fans....now that is not a blanket statement but you have to agree they have quite a bad rep. I don't believe this situation in Philly is due to Webb....I blame the coach, it's his job to find a way for Webb's skills to be properly utilized, get out while you can Webb!!!!!

Webber isn't struggling because of AI, he's struggling because O'Brien has no idea how to install a motion offense. This is the same guy that wouldn't play Dalembert earlier in the season (multiple DNP-CDs in fact) because he wasn't a good jump shooter, even though Dalembert is arguably the best shot blocking/defending center in the East, behind Ben Wallace.

Of course, it doesn't help that O'Brien wants him to participate in full contact practices. With that knee? Good god.

Iverson's 12 turnovers were a league season high, and tied for fourth-highest in NBA history. So my question is...why wasn't Iverson getting booed? Why is Webber taking all the flack for the awful coaching and player ball hogging? I guess Webber being blamed for everything seems to carry over to the East as well.

Webber is hearing it in Philly

This was taken from nba.com

Iverson's comments on fans' reaction to C-Webb.

“I’ve been in Philadelphia nine years, and I’ve seen way worse than that. I’ve been booed. So why would it bother me if somebody else is getting booed? It didn’t bother me when I was getting booed. That’s just how it is. This is Philadelphia. This is as real as it gets. It (doesn’t) get any harder than this. It (doesn’t) get (any) worse than this. This is the toughest place in the world to play in. If you can deal with it, then you definitely can deal with it playing somewhere else. But if you didn’t have anything negative surrounding you wherever you’ve been before you came here, you’ve got to do a lot of growing up, fast. Because it’s going to come right at you.”

yeah, good thing he's used to it!;) haven't heard any stories about him pushing old ladies on the street, but I'm sure that will be next!

It really sucks for anyone playing with Iverson because he only plays one way, and that is like he is on the playground. He does not like to run set plays the only assists he gets are from passing the ball when he is lost in the air and cannot get a shot off.

The problem with bringing in chris is they expect him to be what he is not. an offensive rebounder who spends his time in the lane.

Remeber this is a team who has not played matt barnes at all. they even went as far as to put him on the IL. AND the thing is that Barnes is EXACTLY the kind of player that should be around AI. he is a hustling offesive rebounder who is generally a role player.

Funny but everyone says that players cannot play with Iverson, It is exactly the opposite, Iverson cannot play with other players.

Alas Iverson apears to remain uncoachable. I hoped that after years in the leage, wathching lesser players get rings, failing to even make the play offs, Iverson would be ready for a change, but it seems he his intent on playing AI ball, and perhaps that is all he is capibl of. Weather or no O'Brian is able or willing to revamp the offense to utalize rather than squander Webber's immense tallent remains unseen. This is sad. Waste of Webber's tallent and sorry way for him to end his career, playing second fiddle to a ball hog. It is nice to think he might get traded to a team better suited, but given his contract size and the knee, I doubt it. Perhaps he has a season or two left in him once the contract expires, but I doubt it. Sad, just sad.

Very true. In one of the quotes from Webb he said "I am still a great player" and it is so sad to me that he has to justify that. From his perspective, it's no wonder his confidence is down, absolutely nothing has gone right since he got traded to that team. He is an extremely talented player (one leg or not) and I really hate to see the way this is shaping up. I realize that many athletes end their career sitting on the bench thinking about the good old days, but Webb is no where near that point in his career. Unfortunately, by the time this contract expires he might be, especially if he spends the next few years being underutilized and frustrated. I hope something gives here soon.... I keep telling myself it's going to get better....

AI has serious problems, and obviously O'Brien doesn't help. Hopefully O'Brien will wise up, but I don't see any signs of it. Even after the game last night, he said something to the effect that Webb will find his place soon. Everyone just seems to think Webb needs to make all the adjustments, and that things like AI sharing the shots would be WAY too much to ask.

The 6ers are 3-4 since the trade. Not much better or worse than before. What did Phily expect him to lead them to the title this year at midseason give me a break. He's my favorite player but you can't pull miracles especially with AI at point and O'brien as the coach. They will start playing better but they aren't playing that badly. 6 games in 8 nights is tough for any team. Warriors have won 7 of 10, so they aren't that bad either right now.

From "Warriors Notebook" in the San Fransisco Chronicle, Webb's latest quotes: (see link for entire article)

"When somebody asks for you, they want to utilize you, so I thought I was coming into (a situation where) I would be able to be utilized for the player I was," Webber said before Tuesday's game. "I played 50 games before I got here, averaged 22 (points), 10 (rebounds) and 5 (assists) before that. "I came here with feelings of having fun, being with (Iverson), asking some good questions, hopefully being in the playoff race. Now it's negativity and controversy which is always something that follows me and this is not something I'm asking for this time."

I feel so bad for him, I really do. I am a big Webb fan, and I hate this situation. But, Webb might be at one of those points where he should stop talking to the press for a while. I understand he's down, but I really think complaining is just going to make things even worse. He needs to just come up with a standard response, like, "I am going to keep trying, and I know my shot will come", and just keep reiterating it.

I guess this makes you realize what a great coach Larry Brown actually is. He was able to take Iverson to the NBA finals, granted it was the East but that was pretty amazing.

good quote from Cwebb, If negativity and controversy always follow you then maybe you ought to change something about yourself...no?

Here how it was ... you haters where like this, C-Webb has triple double = "hes the best PF in the NBA" ... Chris Webber has off night = "he sucks, pass the ball !!!" ... He makes a game winning/tying shot = "wow hes the best player ever !!!" ... " ................. simply.. you guys are clueless.. you hope on and off his badwagon , its not even funny... i wish C-Webb good luck .. i hope you guys can too.. he did so much here.. he had to deal with so much crap from so called "fans" and now he is doing bad , and some morons where " i knew this trade was great", " thank god hes not here , he sucks" ........ get over yourselfs... AGREED. Webb is one the best Kings ever, and did a lot for his team. I will continue to follow him & wish him the best of luck. Seems like some (from people I hear on the radio, etc) are happy he is not doing well, and I think that shows a lack of gratitude for everything he brought to this team. Love him or hate him, think the trade is good or not, Webb played his heart out here & I believe he deserves our respect.

what exactly do you think Webb has done in his current situation to bring this on himself? yeah, lately his comments aren't great, but he went into this trying his best & has been met with horrible fans, a bummer coach, a "star" that "wants him to succeed" but doesn't make any effort to help it happen, and a system that makes it hard for him to perform to his capabilities. He didn't ask to get traded, and he is trying his best!
