Uh, that you can't make mud out of sand? Sand is a coarse-grained soil (particles greater than 0.0029 inches in diameter, to be specific); only silts and clays can actually form a "mud". If you are actually making a "mud" out of what you are calling a sand, then it's got to have a lot of fine-grained soils in it as well. USCS classification SM or SC. But then it is no longer typically just called "sand".
Just FYI.
That's right, such as Sheldon Williams, if the coach does not let him play on the court enough, he can't develop to be a good PF
But I think real game time experience is needed as well to judge. Not just practice.. I think that's where Williams (both Justin, and Shelden) might be having problems.
I think a good mud is organic clayey silt. But that is just me personally.![]()

Douby doesnt look like he's a complete waste. His shooting is almost comparable to Cisco's, he just doesnt get enough minutes. If Cisco becomes back-up SF and Douby becomes our back-up SG, i think we'll be fine.
Although i think we need to draft a PG.
Whats our chances at OJ mayo?
The point about pestering guards suddenly made me draw comparisons to Vujacic. Shoot 3s, pester guard. Well at least at the moment that's all he's good for.
Not very good. We'd have to snag one of the top 3 spots. If we did that, I'd expect us to take Rose or Beasley before Mayo. If we can somehow trade and land the 5-7 pick, Mayo would be a good target.
Unlikely. Mayo has been slipping a bit on the draft boards. If he even declares at all, I see him going sumwhere between 6th-10th
I agree. Although he's stated that he's not coming out this year...
My favorite tid-bit on Douby was a review by Rick Kamla, NBA TVs analyst on the 2006 1st round draft choices playing in the Summer League:
19. Quincy Douby, Kings: If Pecherov is a poor man's Bargnani, then Douby is a poor man's Eddie House ... or the second coming of Salim Stoudamire. Douby can give you liberty or he can give you death.
Couldn't say it better myself. Flashes of being a 1st rounder almost every game but usually only for couple of up and downs. I think he could be a really good defender who could/should make a few 3's when in. But he has already been in 2 summer leagues and can't use that for working on his game.
One measurement of judgement is who did you pass on when you took a player. Players we could have drafted instead of Douby are.
Rajon Rondo
Marcus Williams
Kyle Lowry
Jordon Farmer
Sergio Rodriguez
I think there are a few pt guards in that group, and we would have been better served by taking one of them.
Paul Millsap
A defensive hustle player we could have used at 4.
While I still believe that Douby can have a future in the league, I continue to have my doubts that it shall be with us. Unless we get lucky and get a Doug kind of player (a big guard who can handle the ball and create for others), Douby's combination of lack of size to play the two, and lack of PG skills to play the one shall be a hinderance. Getting someone like Doug can allow him to play off the ball on offense, (like Mike often did during our run), where his scoring skills can be very useful. Maybe Cisco can grow in that role (hopefully).
