A year wasted thanks to Monte.

In hindsight I wonder if all the trades that “Monte told the players were done deals” were actually all deals that Monte brought to Fox’s team with the caveat that he’d only pull the trigger if Fox signed an extension only for them all to blow up because Fox didn’t do so and said deals wound up continually passed around to the usual media suspects.

Been saying that for a little bit. Monte doesn't tell anyone about deals and he took a lot of heat for not telling Tyrese to his face and not firing Brown to his face. Everything this organization has done until the trade has been about creating a winning organization with Fox as the face of this franchise. Domas was pretty much the clear leader from the second he arrived but they were still all in on Fox is the star. Even Domas getting All NBA last year there were some kvetching that Fox deserved it too.

Of course they went to him any time a FRP was on the table and said "look we can make this deal but you have to commit to being here in 2027 if we trade a 27/28 FRP".

That sounds logical. There would have been no reason for Monte to tell any players if it was Huerter/Lyles. This isn't like back in the day with the Ron Artest for Peja fiacso. IIRC the deal was agreed to so that's why they pulled Peja off the plane or whatever it was but Ron wanted to speak directly to the Kings or something first and Ron was obviously an edgy guy. I seriously don't believe Monte had a deal agreed to like that and just pulled out. It's possible but what you're saying makes more sense

Also makes some sense why Kings twitter is how it is if Recee feeding certain folks bits. There’s one person I have a feeling she definitely might be and I‘m sure other folks may know who I’m thinking but won’t disservice them by calling it out.

I have suspected that "told players" might have been a euphemism for "told Fox" for a few days now. Obviously no way to actually know unless other players come out and say otherwise. Obviously Collins has already said he hadn't heard about the potential trade.
