How bout I do you one better and name one on the Lakers: Mr. Vlade Divac?
And who would I consider unselfish? Let's see... Mike Bibby, Doug Christie, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, Tony Paker, Tim Duncan, etc, etc. There are plenty of unselfish players in this league. Kobe Bean just isn't one of them.
Jason kidd and steve nash i kinda agree that they are pass first PGs. (If i were to talk about philosophy as per Mark Twain, everyone is selfish in whateve they do, nash and kidd want to pad up their assist stats and hence are passing too much and even dont take easy layups and give it to the trailing guy for a dunk. Anyhow that will be too much for you to handle now

)
Mike bibby and doug christie - is there a reason why you say so, i looked at their assist numbers and they seem to be similar to Kobe Bean's, bibby averages more than kobe but then isnt a PG supposed to do that. DC is not a scorer and his assists seem pretty low for a non scorer (i know he is not the playmaker in the team and that it goes through the PG and the big men, but since you were pointing to stats i wanted to do the same ). if you are going to just look at the way they play and not back it up with numbers, facts then i can leave it as just perception which no one can change from either side.
Tim Duncan - If he is one among the best and teams double him that much, i would expect the assists to be higher and for an unselfish player like him, how is it that the assists are way lower than the selfish ballhog. Or is it again a perception from what you have seen or heard from people.
What are your criteria for an unselfish player, other than stats. Sometimes to make things clear, you can try to maintain stats for a game, where you can count the number of times the player touches the ball and the number of times he passes the ball or shoots it. That kinda would give an idea about what the team is doing and who the team considers their main weapon. If there are sequences in a game where DC doesnt touch the ball at all in offense then i am not sure if he can pass the ball or better yet try to score, and even when he does the chances of that going are going to be different.
I am not trying to defend Kobe here, but trying to understand your point of view or others who call someone a ballhog
