In the South Florida Sun-Sentinel was a list of unsigned veterans available at the end of the first week of regular season play. This does not count those who went to Europe. A few "bigs" are in there. Who should Kings get?

Shandon Anderson, Stacey Augmon, Devin Brown, Rick Brunson, Anthony Carter, Calbert Cheaney, Doug Christie, Antonio Davis, Howard Eisley, Darvin Ham, Zendon Hamilton, Penny Hardaway, Jim Jackson, Luke Jackson, Ervin Johnson, Toni Kukoc, Voshon Lenard, Walter McCarty, Lamond Murray, Milt Palacio, Chris Taft, Nick Van Exel, Keith Van Horn, Von Wafer, Matt Walsh, Alvin Williams and Qyntel Woods.

Actually I really only see 1 center in there (Hamilton) and 1 PF (Taft). Neither have shown much -- Potapenko is considerably more accomplished as an NBAer. Everybody else are smalls. Of course Van Horn lurks, and my teasing suggestion that we get him to secure our softie rep could still happen I guess. But he's not going to solve any defensive or rebounding problems inside.

I think Van Horn would be a very good addition, he can be a solid player from the bench. He wouldn't solve the defensive and rebounding problems, but he would add 3 point shooting, scoring and depth.

Only one name surprises me just a little - I thought there were big hopes for Voshon Lenard a couple of years ago. What happened?

The sad thing is that I am tempted to agree. Unfortunately I think Ron might object however at the requirement that our resulting frontline wear cute little lace ruffles on their short socks.

Out of that group I would love to sign Qyntel Woods.

I don't know why no one picked him up, because from what I saw through the box-scores he looked good for the Knicks last year...I guess his legal problems from years back scared people away, maybe?

Anyways, he averaged 6pts (on 50% shooting) and 4 rebounds...And he's just as young as Garcia, so brigning him in could open up a fire in him and spark some competition.

Not what we need, but anything that improves our bench is good with me.

And Bricklayer wins the award for arguably the funniest (clean) mental image ever evoked on this - or any other - message board!

We could always sign Walter McCarty, the worst rebounding big man of all time.

PS: Actually, what about Antonio Davis and his wife?

Ervin Johnson is a big who, if he would play like he played 10 years ago, would be perfect. But I don't see anyone on that list who looks like a better candidate than Justin Williams was. Most of those vets were either injured, or are old enough to have played with James Worthy (which at least two of them did).

Hell yeah, i mean why not, kings reallly have nothing to lose.

If we got Rodman too, they could wear dresses to match the socks.

How about a trade for Lamar Odom?

So far this year he has as many assists as Bibby + Price,
more rebounds then Brad + Corliss,
and about the same points as all 4 of those guys put together.

He could just play C and PG at the same time, and we'd be none the worse for it. ;)

Qyntel Woods is the best player on the list. He's still young and has a world of talent. he's an idiot but he can ball which can't be said about most of those guys.

Van Horn can still play but he announced he didn't want to play this year and apparently turned down a couple of deals in the offseason. Besides, I believe the Kings already have a soft three point shooting big man. :D

But there aren't any real big men that can rebound on the market.

Yeah, but he got arrested for animal cruelty up in Portland and appeared to have attitude problems. They dumped him a year ago and no one has touched him since. Not for Kings.

Having seen the comments so far, there doesn't appear to be anyone who could help now.

Wonder where our summer league guy Williams is right now? Hope not too far away.... :)
