Don't Make Me Use The Bat
These gals have just been sitting around waiting to get picked for a while now, and I can’t let them slip any farther: Heart.

Ann Wilson can belt one out with the best of them. Nancy Wilson is a simply amazing guitarist. And together, they put out a solid string of radio hits between about 1976-1990. Not only that, but every live performance I've ever heard has basically rocked the house - they weren't just a studio-tuned marvel. What more could you ask for in the 13th round?
Years active: 1973-present
Catalog: 13 studio albums (~9h40m), 5 live albums (6h24m)
Landmark songs: Crazy On You, Magic Man, Barracuda, What About Love, These Dreams
Song I keep coming back to:
Hate to bring in more armchair snark, but ugh to the Oasis pick. Ugh, ugh, ugh. Knew they were going to end up going at some point, but still... ugh. Never got the appeal when they were big, and certainly don't get the appeal now that they seem to have suddenly become respected/important in the years since they imploded.
I didn't even click on any of the links, but I'm still going to have Wonderbra stuck in my head for the next forever.
(To be fair, there is one song of theirs I have liked: "****in' in the Bushes," an instrumental that shows up on the Snatch soundtrack. And I think the instrumental bit is an important factor, there, as it means there is no Gallagher whine to deal with.)
I can see why someone would dislike Oasis. The Gallaghers aren't the most likable people, and their voices aren't typical either. I like them a lot as I grew up with their music so there is a certain nostalgic value there for me, but I still think they made some really, really good music. I'm not a massive fan or anything like that, but I do like them.
I'm mostly with you but I have to admit someone forced me to sing one of their songs once in Rock Band or something and I thought it was kind of fun and wound up buying the pack of wonderwall, live forever and some other song that sounds exactly the same. The notion that they were supposed to be the Beatles of their generation or something insane like that was just crazy talk to me though.Hate to bring in more armchair snark, but ugh to the Oasis pick. I LOATHE Oasis... seems like they were one of a million bands trying to copy the Beatles in the 90's... why were they more sucessful than anyone else? Unibrows?I can see why someone would dislike Oasis.
I was thinking of going with Ray Charles soon. Well played!Ray Charles
Missing out on Green Day, I always had this band in mind as a fun replacement pick. They'll fit in with a few of my punk/ska picks earlier, add a bit of a pop feel, and finally break my string of only taking white male talent (besides Marley of course). Pump up the volume, and have some fun, this band makes great wake up music for long early morning commutes. Underrated bass lines and intriguing/creative guitar riffs too. With my lucky 13th selection, I choose:
No Doubt

Clearly we are going to have to shoot him.
Not to worry, I check up on the thread regularly enough. I'll clear some space anyway though.
Good pick.The Kinks

Without further ado, here's my pick:

The Kinks
Quite surprised they're still here, and relieved I remembered them a few days ago as they'd completely slipped my mind. One of the most influential bands ever to come from Britain. They have so many well-known hits that many are still played often today.
And another in spoilers so as not to clog up the thread:
So, in order to make Dave Grohl the most ubiquitous man of this draft (as if it were hard. there's still another two bands he features in that could legitimately be drafted and those drafted so far were no-brainers).

Queens Of The Stoneage
It's late enough to go drivin
And see what's mine
That's a study of dying
How to do it right
You're a holy roller
Get your bed in the loose
If you're hanging around
I'm holdin the noose
First Album: Songs For The Deaf
Favourite: Rated R
Why I Started Listening: Because Stoner Rock is awesome and QOTSA does it best. Admittedly, losing Nick Olivieri and Dave Grohl hurt (who would've guessed?), but they still produce quality albums and Rated R and Songs For The Deaf are absolute killers.

With this pick I draft, Scorpions.
After stupidly losing Van Halen, I need a band to fill that high energy, guitar driven, hook laden hard rock/heavy metal void on my island. Few do that style better than the Scorpions. Great rockers, great ballads, just a great band all around.
Most people know them for their 80s stuff. "Blackout" and "Love at First Sting" are 80s metal classics.
What really gives this pick value for me though is their highly underrated 70s work. The stuff they did with Uli Roth (who also happens to be one of my favorite guitarists) was awesome.
Klaue Meine is also one of my favorite singers. What an amazing set of pipes that guy has!
