I don't know who is in Dead and Co without looking it up but I do believe that Bob Weir is in that band.

Again I am not the world's biggest fan but I always considered Jerry, Bob and Phil to be the centerpieces when they rolled the travelling circus up to town.

Bob Weir and Mickey Hart still play in Dead and Company. Bill Kreutzmann played in the band until last year. John Mayer is the lead guitarist.

Grateful Dead radio (gdradio.net) occasionally plays one of the Dead and Company concerts.

I really didn't know him from his films, but he was the main character ("Adult Jake Cisco") in what was possibly the best single episode of any Star Trek series (Deep Space Nine: "The Visitor"). RIP, Tony.

Bela Karolyi, Olympic champion coach to gymnastics legends Nadia Comaneci, Mary Lou Retton, and the Magnificent Seven, died today at the age of 82.

Karolyi is an undeniably controversial figure, and I do not post this without reservations or a sense of thinly-vielded contempt. But I do not wish to speak ill of the recently dead. So I’ll leave the final word to the gymnast who made me fall in love with the sport (and The Devil Went Down to Georgia).

What a horrible year for A's fans. Rickey will always be the baseball GOAT in my mind -- he was and will always be my biggest baseball hero. In a better world, there's still a team in Oakland and a Rickey Henderson statue standing proudly right across the Bay from the shrines to the legacies of Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, and Juan Marichal. Rickey deserved better.

I remember when he signed his big free agent deal with the A's at $3mil/per and it being a milestone (that is a laughable one today). Also him playing minor league ball when his MLB career ended.

I woke up this morning and saw he had passed and couldn't believe it. RIP Rickey.
