I don't see why we can't make a pick along with the genre, it won't really ruin anything.

Only reason is it might alter what people behind you would do. They want to do a comedy built around their favorite comic actor, and you take him before they even selct genre, then maybe they go a different way.

Does this mean that Thriller can no longer be taken? Or are we allowed to duplicate?

No, originally it was going to be one per person, but there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth, so duplication is fine now. Other than having to comepte for the same personnel, there is no downside.

For the sake of the draft rules, I'm declaring my genre as action/adventure.

However, as the exact tone of my planned film doesn't quite fit into any one particular genre choice, expect this to be expanded upon greatly when I take my director.

Groovy. Can I make a suggestion? If people tag this thread and have an email response set to when people make a pick, it'll help move things along. I thought the heroes/villains draft was rather snappy because of this.

...just a suggestion, your lordship.

All right, unofficially my genre is "historical epic", but, in adhering to the rules, it will officially be an action/adventure-drama-romance amalgamation ala Braveheart and Dances with Wolves.

(I hope revealing that much isn't a faux pas. I figure it's more of a strategic liability than anything else)

You know what, unless trhere is an objection I'm going to insto-change the genre rules here, or at least tweak them -- you want a Historical Epic? Let's call it a Historical Epic. GGG wanted a B-Movie/Exploitation. Why not? I see no reason/advantage to forcing people who have a real specific idea in mind in a common movie type to have to use a broader action/adventure label if their idea is more narrow and well developed. The genre thing is to keep people from hopping from one to the other major genres and so that the lists have direction and people can see them developing, but if you want to be MORE specific than Action/Adventure or whatever, then I say go for it. I'm going to put Historical Epic as yours, and B-Movie/Exploitation as GGGs. I think that adds rather than subtracts. I'll change the wording of the rules slightly to reflect the change.

Spike officially declares the arrival of his newest musical:

TBD!

Yes, TBD! But at least we all know it's going to be a musical.

(TBD is not the title, BTW.)

So, we have a Thriller, an Action/Adventure, an Action/Drama, an Historical Epic, and a Musical. I'm going to take the plunge into outer space!

My genre selection: Science Fiction/Psychological Drama

As an aside, I'm pretty sure that even when somebody's box is full you can leave them a message in the friends/visitors section if need be.

So who are you drafting based on your photo and movie genre?

Sirius?
Vega?
Polaris?
Rigel?
Betelgeuse?

:p

NOTE: Kings Faithful has just PM'd me that he is out. We are going to need a replacement for the #9 pick (immediately after DD here). On the + side since that position hasn't even picked genre yet, its starting entirely from the beginning ratehr than picking up midway.

So need a peep peeps! Anybody wanna make a movie? You can star in your own love scenes if you want! :p

I'm going to take Historical Epic here, too. I'm assuming that this means your film is based on a historical event, and one that was very significant. Just making sure.

I'm willing to take over slot #9! :p

Heh -- anybody up for even more actors? I just had a suden burst of inspiration and can't do it in 8-9. :p

Still looking for that new recuit by that way. If you are reading this message and not already part of this draft, consider yourself drafted.

Woooweee, I nearly missed the draft board (and the opportunity to whine about how screwed I got by the randomizer...hrumph) I think I have figured out what is going on now....and somehow have also developed a hankerin' for chocolate peach cobbler....

You do seem to have some crap luck at these things. But you are always in position to get the back to back picks on the snake, so it ain't all bad.

Now find us a recruit for #9. :p
