Trade for Rondo??

I just don't think the Kings have the sort of assets they'd be willing to part with for a coming back from injury Rondo. At least not at this time. Draft day may be different.

Yeah, not sure what to make of that rumour given that Amick very recently rubbished it, and he's usually reliable.

But he does say that Ainge will deny it, which MAY explain Amicks source (though I'd tend to trust Amick here).

Still, interesting.

The only untouchables in a Rondo trade is DMC and our 1st round pick in this draft. I'd even do next year's 1st rounder, but please do not touch this year's 1st rounder.

The Rondo rumor has yet to make it to www.hoopshype.com

Therefore, I am not placing any weight on this yet. Let me see it there first, and then you will hear back from me. Right now, talk is talk...Stay tuned, my friends!!!

We can't trade this years first rounder unless it's on draft day due to the Cleveland trade.

Yup, you're absolutely right.

The more I look into this trade, the less I think it's possible.

Still, you have to be happy we're in these rumors. I'm thoroughly enjoying that management has done more in 2 weeks than the Maloofs did in... what... 7 years?
I am just happy to be mentioned in some pretty good rumors this early into the season....When was the last time you heard the Kings pulling off 3 significant trades (Tyreke, Mbah A Moute, and D-Will) and being mentioned in another (Rondo), with the potential to be involved in a number of additional ones as we approach the February trade deadline? This is great!!!

I tend to agree. I closed a thread about this in the main forum, however, so I figured I'd at least post the link to the story. :)

You do have to admit though, if this were to happen then the Kings are stocking up with MAJOR pieces that can be traded for other major pieces down the road if that's what they want.

Not sure how Rondo would fit with Gay being that they both do a lot of the same things. We would need our SG to be a good shooter. Hell, it might even re-energize Thornton and he might actually start hitting shots. He's obviously not happy with the team right now.

I think I will wait until a reputable source reports this. I don't believe Marshall for a second.

I also don't believe for one second they haven't talked. Sorry sam amick. That's nonsense. Whether a trade is imminent, that's another thing. But everyone talks. Not saying I believe Marshall, but they have talked.

Details may be all wrong, and prob are. But no talks at all? No way.

Forgot to include this with my post but this was as of a few hours ago so I doubt what Marshall was saying is true. ------

FYI re: Rajon Rondo rumor, Celtics & Kings have had no talks about him or any other player, I'm told by both sides. Nothing to see here...

One thing I know is this is exciting. The Sacramento kings, looking at legit players. Throw out fit, personalities, rondo is a star. Gay is borderline. Cousins is borderline at the moment.

Just talking about it is amazing.

I agree.. GMs are always talking with GMs and every other GM in the NBA knows the Kings are doing a LOT of dealing this year so I am sure we have talked to just about EVERY GM in the league. Whether or not that included inquiries about Rondo or not is anyone's guess.

didn't they shut down when we were talking to toronto?

Didn't see any tweets with him shutting it down. I did see the tweet that they weren't sure if Gay was going to opt out or not after this year.

Can confirm Yahoo! report that Kings and Raptors are discussing trade centered on Rudy Gay. More to come...

Combining a few rumors here, I came up with this idea. (Trade Checker Approved)

BOSTON:

Rajon Rondo for Omer Asik, Isaiah Thomas, Jimmer Fredette

HOUSTON:

Omer Asik, Francisco Garcia, Ronnie Brewer for Jason Thompson, Marcus Thornton

SACRAMENTO:

Marcus Thornton, Jason Thompson, Isaiah Thomas, Jimmer Fredette for Rajon Rondo, Francisco Garcia, Ronnie Brewer

Looks good from our end, we keep McLemore and our draft pick. Looks good from Boston's end, they get two young players who are ready to help them win right now. Houston you have to squint a little bit and figure they want some veteran depth to aid their playoff run.

...and I'm going to stop speculating now before I drive myself crazy.

I can see why Ainge would deny it. Mainly Rondo and his agent. Wouldn't want them to get worked up over trade rumors especially with him still rehabbing. I actually believe something could be in the works now.

On top of Amick, we've got good ol' Jason Jones

and

the CSN Northeast guy

shooting this thing down. Yes, there's a lot of smoke, but it appears to have come out of the Latino Post, or perhaps the even lesser-known article that showed up here first was the source. Either way, looks a lot like misinfo or fabrication.

(I process of editing...twitter stuff didn't paste right)

holy formatting batman

Isn't it true that all the issues around trading our 1st rounder can be removed by granting rights to switch picks rather than give the pick?

For example:
if the 2014 pick is between 4-12 we switch 1st round slots with Boston. If that doesn't happen, same deal in 2015, etc. until the pick is conveyed.

This way there is no possible way we would could trade away 2 future 1sts in a row since we'd only be trading slots with Boston. I don't believe the rule states that the 1st has to have originally been ours. I certainly could be wrong here...
