Trade down?

Can't recall seeing this brought up but once, but seems to me that, if and only if Rubio is off the board, swapping picks with the T-Wolves would make a lot of sense for each team. By all accounts Minny is interested in Evans, whose stock is rising higher than the 6th pick. The Kings remain interested in Johnny Flynn, who looks solid but maybe not quite worthy of the 4th overall.

To cap off such a deal, the Kings could pick up Minny's 18th in exchange for the 23rd, or even the 31st (?). The difference between 18 and 23 could mean getting a solid, if unspectacular role player like Hansborough instead of a player like Cassippi (sp) who will not play in the NBA this season.

Been discussed and I like it!

But if Rubio is off the board then that means Harden (or Thabeet) is probably still on it. In which case I would rather pick up one of them then trading down.

agreed

if Rubio isn't available the guy I want to go ater he is DeMar Derozan

the guys extremely athletic, has a good mid range game, tries really hard on D(even though hes still really raw), and has a world of potential.

he just needs to develop his outside shot which I think he may, he's still raw but has such an amazing upside...

If Flynn is our guy I would generally agree -- he's more a #6-#10 guy so if Rubio/Thabeet are gone and Flynn is who we want to draft its the one time when I would feel comfortable trading back a couple of spots to get him.

I wonder which should be the Kings bigger priority if they wound up with two late first rounders? Use the picks, or try to trade them to move up? Or could they could they trade for a 'young vet' who could step in immediately, or use the picks in a package to jettison a bad contract like Beno's?

This of course assumes that we are not interested in Evans. Considering we asked this guy in for a second look, I would say that he is ranked pretty highly on our board. Also if you take note of bloggers comments (forget if it was Amick or Voison) that Flynn and Mills offered to come in for a work out, I would say that we might rank Evans higher than Flynn.

After the workout today, Mills was asked who impressed him the most. He said Evans. He was impressed by his toughness. At the Timberwolves workout the most impressive player was, you guessed it, Evans. If Rubio isn't there, I think its between Flynn and Evans. Period! Barring a trade. I doubt that DeRozan is even on the Kings radar.

I want Rubio, Thabeet, or Evans. Evans in fact has more sleeper potential than anyone in the draft besides Lawson. Should be a completely awesome draft.

That being said, I don't think we should trade the 4th for anything besides a proven current all star.
