Toney Douglas

Bricklayer

Don't Make Me Use The Bat
Is apparently available from the Knicks. An interesting possiblity to pair with Reke. Having a bad year, but previously can hit the three, and a feisty defender. Kind of half PG/half gunner. Looking for guys who play defense, and can hit the outside shot to make a Thronton as 6th man move remotely reasonable.

I'm getting a little disappointed that with all the rumored available players, we haven't come up in a single rumor(Amick speculation is not a rumor, based on nothing), and I've followed everything. I know Petrie keeps things close to his vest, but that usually ends in a bad move for us.

As for Douglas, maybe. Are you really that confident Smart would play him at the 2 and move Reke back to point? I'm not. What a mess we have.

Or Douglas could be the "point". Wouldn't really matter.

And no, I'm not confident it doesn;t jsut become an IT replacement in the 3-guard. But if it does at least it is one that can defend.

In theory I'd consider it, and it's more the type of move I like. But I could also see Reke taking Salmons spot in 4 guard lineups on the floor. I think my frame of thought is close to yours, where unless it's a no brainer this-guy-must-start, facilitating a shuffle of Smarts lineup, then I worry because I have no confidence in our coach.

I don't mind Douglas, but I'd have a hard time bringing him in without seeing one of Salmons/Garcia/Evans/Thornton/Jimmer/Thomas go in some other deal. I just don't see enough room for another guard on this roster right now. And as far as assets we would give up ... I'm not sure what would make it worth our while. Possibly JJ Hickson, but thats about it.

Doesn't matter really. We need defenders at every position. Currently we have 4 guards and only 1 can defend his shadow.
