This CANNOT be it

The pressure is on Peja. People are going to look at this trade in pretty much the same way as the deal that split Shaq and Kobe. Whether or not it's 100% factually correct, the fans see it as Kobe/Peja forcing the organization's hand. Kobe wasn't ready for the pressure, I think it wore on him and we're not even through his first season as the only franchise player on the Lakers. We'll see with Peja, who I consider to be less mentally strong as well as less talented than Kobe.

We all know how Peja deals with pressure.

Sorry If i sound like I'm attacking Peja, I have no ill feelings towards Peja. I'm just angry at this trade because it seems that Petrie is hanging his hopes on Peja and I have have trouble comprehending what he is going on in his damn head.

All I can say about this is players have their highs and lows.

If Webb was traded last season when Peja was smoking hot, you wouldn't be saying this.

Only time will tell. A little sleep for everybody tonight will do wonders tomorrow. I predict we'll even have 1 optimistic thread on all this.

Well said.

As I remember Peja has never projected himself as a leader. Why suddenly Petrie and some fans now assume he's going to be the answer of our team?

The saddest thing to me is, Webber has talked about being a leader on this team in the last summer.

And he has done what he said.

What he got in return? Got dumb for garbage. Speaking of zero respect.

I don't feel sorry about Chris. He metioned he's happy. You don't want me. Why should I still play my butts off for you.

I don't feel sorry for Chris. I just feel sorry for the Kings organization.

Unfortunately, it's 3:00 in the afternoon here. I will have to endure this sorrow for a long long time.

DOWNSIDE of his career? Maybe in a couple of years but not this year.

I'm speechless.

He is putting up wonderful stats, yes... but he's lost a lot of the intangibles--for example, he is no longer a threat to drive and dunk over somebody. He no longer needs to be double teamed. He is a lot slower, which can easily be seen on defense and offense. Yes, other parts of his game have improved--he's become smarter, a better jump shooter, and better passer, but I really believe Webb is past his peak. He's still great, but not the explosive guy he was. And it was the explosive guy the kings always needed for a championship. When they lost that in the knee injury, they're window of opportunity closed for good.

You know, you're right. I'm sure I'm going to wake up in the morning and be ecstatic:

OMG. We have Corliss back! And Kenny Thomas!! AND Brian Skinner!!! Oh, joy of joys! My life is complete. Yes!!!

Yeah, I'll be sure and let you know if that happens.

Whatever. I know what Webber has meant to this team and I know what I've seen from him this year, including a fantastic improvement in his free throw shooting. He made some terrific dunks last night. You can dump on him but the bottom line is he is STILL light-years ahead of the garbage we got in return.

I won't argue this any further but if you're unsure check what the 76er fans are saying. That alone speaks volumes. They're afraid it's a dream, too, but only because they are so unbelievably stunned to hear that Chris Webber is coming to their team. I predict ticket sales will skyrocket in Philadelphia.

If it was the explosive guy the Kings needed for a championship, I'll be watching close to see which one of the three - Skinner, Thomas or Williamson - steps up to fill the gap.

Please, give me a break.

I took some serious time to think about this trade, and the more I think about it the less sense it makes. I do not understand what would drive a man to accept a deal like this. Not even serious intoxication ,smoking crack or whatever else can justify this. I have a feeling that Peja is going to be traded for Boozer by tomorrow morning, but then again ... Petrie is having a conference NOW.

Somebody go break one of Chris Webber's fingers. Maybe there will be a Mateen-Jumaine Jones situation afterall.

I don't get it. Petrie is smart, but he just traded a 100 dollar bill for a loonie.

Peja isn't going anywhere. I think appeasing Peja might have been one of the reasons for trading Webber after all. I might be wrong on this one.

Together Peja and Webb meant one or the other not getting the right opprotunities, Peja will now get out from the backseat and have a chance prove his status as the franchise player.

Peja is a great spot shooter. But not a franchise player.

hah !

Well ... my life as I know it has not been affected by this trade. Sure...I'm pissed off , but I'll still live and continue to do the same things I do day in and day out. Judging by some people's reactions tonight, I'm not sure that they'll do the same. I'm sorry I don't cry when people get traded in professional basketball. If you do, congratulations...you must have quite the life. Many people have other priorities.

It's getting late here, so I'll just leave it up to all of you guys to sob all over this board and dump all over the new players while Petrie overnight has become jelli and Peja the devil.

EVERYBODY, FREAK OUT !!! The world is coming to an end, Chris Webber has left Sacramento !

Thank you. Just what I needed was sarcasm from someone and ridicule because I am openly upset to see the end of an era.

I'm sorry you don't cry, too. Apparently you get your kicks out of ridiculing sentimental women. Way to go, big guy. I hope you feel real good about putting me down. You're such a man.

I'm never going to argue anyone one of those three even has the potential of being what Webber once was, or even is now.

This upsets me greatly. Forget the folks that can only make them selves feel better by putting down others. It is obvious in the way they "support" theri favorite players at the expense of others and obvious in the way they attack other posters. I sahre your sense of loss and greife and like you I will be glued to the game tommorow night despite it. Peace, Shalom, Salam

Salam to you as well.

In the last few days, people kept mentioning that all we needed was a trade on par with the Rasheed Wallace trade of last year.

But, I kept picturing us as Detroit.

Glad you have not lost your sense of humor.

I could never lose that.

Hell, I've been in many situations in which it would probably have benefitted me to let go of the joke, but I just can't seem to do it.

No, the sucker-punch of emotion that I felt when I first heard the news went away pretty quickly.

The disappointment, however.....well, that's still here.

My heart sank after reading who we got in return for this trade. There's no way any of these guys can compensate with what Webber brought to the team.

Having said that, I want to know more about these guys that we did aquire (well I know enough about Williamson).

Put aside the fact on who we gave up and tell me about these two other guys.
Isn't Kenny Thomas a monster rebounder? and Skinner a potential shot blocking specialist? What do their contracts look like?
I want to know what this new look Kings team will look like.

Someone coined this as the Kings trading for "bangers". I don't think the Philly fans would agree. Philly fans were happy to get rid of Thomas. Skinner is the only banger really. Corliss and Thomas are both tweener forwards.

I'm pretty sure that there is more than meets the eye on this trade. I mean how long has Webb been trying to get to the East coast. Now granted I don't like who we ended up with but maybe Petrie has other plans with his newly aquired players. Time will tell....

For some people to actually start blaming Pedja for this trade is just plain silly. You can not compare him to Kobe-he is not the one twisting anyone's arm to trade webber...... Give me a break!
As hard it is for all of us to understand why this trade was made, there probably is a reason.... and I mean a good one , not Pedja. GP has probably thought about this long and hard and he knows why he made this choice. Considering what KINGS actually got in return, I am expecting more trade news, because i don't think that giving up Webber and Barnes was worth what we got. However, I find it hard to believe that Pedja will be going anywhere because if we get rid of him as well,....... well, we better be getting major names in return in order to rebuild the team we once used to have.

Oh boy.

I didn't even mean you specifically and even though it may have looked that way, I was not trying to put anyone down. I was talking about the whole reaction on the board generally. This board started to look like a therapy session for people who were contemplating suicide.

I posted something partially positive (maybe telling people to calm down a little ?), and you responded to me with snyde comments and basically said everybody should freak out because Chris Webber was traded. Even if I did put you down as you say, it doesn't make me feel any better, or any more of a man.

I apologize if I offended you. Never meant to.

HndsmCelt - Yeah, that's it for sure. If you've got nothing smart to say, its best to keep it shut.
