The official KF "I want to share some good news!" thread

I just had my second big dental procedure in 2 weeks. I had suffered a paralyzing fear of the dentist that kept me from going for years after I moved away from Sacramento and had it not been for a dental emergency who knows how long it would have gone on.

I was a total wreck before the root canal 2 weeks ago but it went pretty well and I'm happy to report that I actually got a good night's sleep last night, was totally at peace this morning, actually said "good!" when asked how I was doing and made it through with very little fuss.

I feel like a huge monkey is now off my back and I think once I get everything fixed up I'll be completely free of a life long dental phobia.

I know that phobia, it's a hard one to overcome. i'm glad you were able to get through it.

Last semester I completed my senior thesis. I had to create a distribution plan for an independent film. I got the highest grade in my class, and my teacher nominated me for a national award. Awesome!!

Here are a few shots of my plan.

Wow! Winning a national award would be something else. Even being nominated for an award of that caliber is a huge honor.
CONGRATULATIONS

I got a little good news - my internet provider upgraded my antenna for free and I now connect about 3x faster than I used to!

I have a fixed wireless connection:
http://www.softcom.net/wbbfixed.php
I just tried an internet speedtest from:
http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

and my results:

Last Result:
Download Speed: 3351 kbps (418.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1454 kbps (181.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

That's about 3 times faster than before, and I didn't have to pay a thing for the upgrade!

I have one child, a son named Steven. He is 30 years old today and today he brings home his first child.....

Jewel Renée
Born February 12th at 11:11 AM
Weight: 7 pounds, 4 ounces
Length: 19½"

Mom is doing beautifully after a rough, 25-hour labor/delivery. Dad was immediately besotted with his little daughter. Jewel is beautiful and precious, if I do say so myself. ;) She was clearly born a Kings and Monarchs fan. ;)

I won't even try to describe my utter joy! :):)

Hurray, kennadog! If she was going to pick a day between her mother and father's birthdays, she could not have done better than Abraham Lincoln's birthday. She will do great things.

CONGRATULATIONS, GRANDMA!!

6th: the funny thing is, if it had been a boy the name they had picked out was Lincoln. :D

Thank you 6th and VF for the best wishes. I definitely love being a grandma! :D

My sister just had a baby boy - apparently everyone is doing well! 8.5±lb, 19" long.

They have 2 girls already, so I think my brother-in-law was ready for a little more testosterone in the house. ;)

So between the two of us it is boys - 2, girls - 2. :D Boys were born first (ours) and fourth with the girls in the middle. We live close to each other and our guy just turned 5, so should be a nice, tight-knit group of cousins.

I've lost 24 pounds in the last 3 months. I was approaching adult onset diabetes and have other heath problems related to weight. I feel much better. I want to lose 50 more pounds, so yes, I am a porker.

This is an update primarily for twocents who has a remarkable memory.

Congratulations on the addition to your family. Wish your sister (and her husband and children) well for us.

That's great, Glenn. I need to start the journey of weight loss myself.

Congratulations to your sister and BIL, Warhawk! Cousins are great. I'm very close to mine.

Congrats to you, too, Glenn. Losing weight is very hard to do. I need to get back on track. I once weighed a lot more than now, but for health reasons, really need to do more.

It is much more difficult for women. That is not a secret. My wife is dieting also and that helps us both. I also encourage some folks who are moving up in years just to get used to the extra pounds. I believe I saw somewhere that it is healthier to be a little overweight. (That should change the definition of "overweight" shouldn't it?) You may no longer fit our society's almost sadistic preoccupation with being thin but you'll suffer less, feel better about yourself, and maybe even be healthier.

Some of us are a long way from our teen years and so be it.

Congrats to your sis and bil Warhawk!
It's nice to have a group of cousins who live close to each other.

WTG Glenn! I know staying on track isn't always easy.

Congratulations, Uncle Warhawk!

And good luck, Glenn. Getting older means changing a lot of things, doesn't it? And when you're as old as we are ;) just continuing to get older is an accomplishment.

:)
