Superhero Draft - team write-ups and post-draft rankings to be done

She "hosted" the phoenix force before. She now has an echo of it, just like in the comic books. Also, having Sage around I could replicate her full potential to Phoenix proportions, hence the awesome combo:).
So then technically I drafted the phoenix force as interpreted by Jean Gray....

So did you draft Phoenix as well?? Or just Marvel Girl with a Phoenix juicebox?

Albus Dumbledore
Why have one wizard when you can have two?

Uber-neato skills (per wiki)
His weapon of choice seems to be fire. In his duel against Voldemort in the fifth novel, he uses a fiery rope; when he displays his Wizarding powers to young Tom Riddle, he does so by setting Riddle's wardrobe on fire; in the cave that hides Voldemort's locket Horcrux, he uses fire to hold off the Inferi (though that fact may be excluded as Inferi are vulnerable to fire and warmth). He is also known to be able to conjure Gubraithian fire (magical everlasting fire). He has claimed to be able to become invisible without using an invisibility cloak, which is most likely a powerful Disillusionment Charm. Dumbledore is also skilled in Occlumency and Legilimency. Dumbledore is an expert at Transfiguration too, having taught the subject before becoming headmaster. He frequently creates complex objects like sofa chairs out of thin air (or from less comfortable chairs). Dumbledore is also proficient at Charms and Potions, as, according to the obituary written by Elphias Doge, his papers were published in journals such as Achievements in Charming and The Practical Potioneer. Dumbledore is famous for defeating Grindelwald, who is second on a list of Most Dangerous Dark Wizards of All Time only to Voldemort himself, in a "spectacular duel of legend", succeeding in doing so despite the fact that Grindelwald possessed the Elder Wand, which supposedly guarantees invincibility in duels due to its power. His skill at duelling is further shown when he calmly engages Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, overpowering him and eventually forcing him to possess Harry to be spared from total defeat. Dumbledore speaks Mermish and Gobbledegook (Goblin language), and understands Parseltongue.

Powers:
Atmokinesis (ability to control the weather)
Flight
Telepathy Resistance
Super hot body

To create a nice 1-2 combo punch with Thor, and to totally spice up my island, with my next pick I select:

Storm

She has a bit of an attitude and isn't afraid to wipe someone off the planet if need be. Plus, this entitles me to all the Halle Berry pics I can think of. :D Storm in a two-piece? Suuure.

When all hope is seemingly lost, it's always a hero the forces of evil have underestimated who turns the darkest days into the finest hour.

For that member of my team, I'm calling on the original "Knight in Shining Armor"

Sir Lancelot du Lac

DRAGONS_Lancelot.jpg

Often described as the greatest Knight of the Round Table and, by extension, the world, Lancelot was facing and conquering insurmountable odds before most of the heroes already drafted were figments of an overzealous writer's imagination.

His list of achievments are so interwoven with the mythos of a "super hero" they've become cliche': rescuing a damsel in distress from a previously impenetrable castle, facing down overwhelming numbers of enemy knights, defeating uber-powered, previously undefeatable villains, using his mind over might to find common ground with enemies and "everybody wins" solutions, refusing to yield in the face of overwhelming odds and fighting with and for truth, justice and honor.

... of course, what he's most remembered for is his teenie-tiny, itty-bitty, little flaw of having an affair with the boss's wife. And sure, that ultimately led to the unraveling of Camelot, but it is also the truest and saddest example of romantic, courtly love for which both of them paid dearly.

And as long as Lancelot doesn't try to pick up on Lois Lane, things should work out just fine.

Cool pick... brave pick... nicely done.

Lobo

lobo_statue.jpg

Lobo possesses extraordinary strength of undefined limits. His strength, much like his other powers, varies greatly depending upon different artistic interpretations of various comic book writers. In some instances, he is depicted as being barely stronger than a human while, in others, he demonstrates physical strength on a similar level as Superman. Lobo also possesses superhuman durability, which varies greatly as well. Lobo is depicted, in some situations, as being injured by conventional bullets while, in other situations, he has the physical resiliency to stand toe to toe with Superman, survive unprotected in deep space, and withstand powerful explosive blasts without sustaining injury. He has displayed particular susceptibility to gaseous chemicals.
If Lobo sustains injury, his accelerated healing factor enables him to regenerate damaged or destroyed tissue with superhuman speed and efficiency, and little apparent pain. Lobo also is functionally immortal. He is immune to the effects of aging and disease and he has been banned from entering either Heaven or Hell. As such, even though he can sustain sufficient injury to be out of commission for quite some time, he will apparently heal from any injury, given sufficient time. For instance, Lobo can regenerate out of a pool of his own blood, apparently recycling the cells.[2] At one time, Lobo could grow a copy of himself, possessing all of his skills and powers, out of every drop of his blood that was spilled. This power, however, was removed by Vril Dox, during Lobo's time with L.E.G.I.O.N.
Lobo possesses an amazingly developed sense of smell, which allows him to track objects between solar systems, as well as a separate tracking ability enabling him to track an individual across galactic distances.
Lobo is a formidable combatant with expertise in multiple forms of armed and unarmed combat. His favorite weapon is a large chain he keeps wrapped around his right wrist with a large gutting hook connected at the end, which he typically uses in hand to hand combat. At times, he also uses high-grade explosives and advanced firearms.
Despite his violent and loutish nature, Lobo seems to have a genius-level intellect in matters of destruction and violence. He can create complex virulent agents and the necessary antidotes to them such as the one he let loose on Czarnia, resulting in the deaths of the entire population in the span of one week.
It is not fully known the extent to which his powers are common for his race or unique to him. In the miniseries The Last Czarnian and elsewhere, it is stated that the cloning and healing abilities are traits possessed by all Czarnians, as is the apparent ability to survive in the vacuum of space.

Blade

blade.jpg

Watch out Dracula and other vampires in the villain thread, here is your kryptonite. He is also an accomplished jazz trumpeter to keep others on the island happy.:)

Blade possesses superhuman strength, stamina, speed, agility, heightened senses, and a rapid healing factor and is unaffected by daylight and most other traditional vampire weaknesses. He also ages very slowly and can preternaturally sense supernatural activity.

Blade is an extraordinary martial artist, swordsman, and marksman. He is a skilled street-fighter and adept in the usage of throwing knives. He is highly knowledgeable about vampire lore.

He won't only do well against vampires though. He has the skills to take down most villains and baddies.

Okay, we had a major run on psychic hotties, so I can wait no longer to pick one of my own. For any pedantic X-Men fans, I’m picking the version after her transfer into a ninja body, and after the restoration and enhancement of her telepathic abilities, but before her telepathy was swapped out for telekinesis. :p

Psylocke

Psylocke is a high-level psychic with advanced telepathic skills and offensive capabilities. As a bonus, she’s also a superhot ninja killing-machine.

318640-80191-psylocke_super.jpg

Psylocke possesses the power of telepathy and is able to perform the same feats as other high order telepaths (Professor X, Jean Grey, Rachel Summers, Emma Frost, etc). She can read and project thoughts over long distances, control minds, subdue and tap into other's powers, project mental illusions, and generate psi-bolts that can stun, injure, or kill others. She can also project her astral self, and the astral bodies of other people, into the astral plane. She can scan entire towns with her mind and leaf through the psyches of the inhabitants of a city to learn of their condition or intentions. She can also use her telepathy to mask her presence from other people, humans and superhumans alike, e.g. from Wolverine's super-enhanced senses or from Jean Grey's telepathy.

Psylocke can use her telepathy to project a focused beam of directed psionic energy into a 'psycho-blast'. While the blast functions much like a typical telepathic attack, it is also able to affect physical matter. The psycho-blast could also pierce the Juggernaut's psi-proof helmet, a feat that Professor Xavier himself could not accomplish when he first met his transformed brother. She can also manifest a "psychic knife," described as the focused totality of her psychic powers, which she uses to disrupt the neurons of her foes by driving the glowing "blade" of psionic energy into their heads.

Psylocke has highly developed fighting skills said to rival those of a ninja master. As a telepath, she can also read her opponents' movements seconds before they make them. In close combat, she typically uses her psychic knife to incapacitate her opponents, although she will kill if necessary.

After her exposure to an elixir called the Crimson Dawn, she also gained the ability to teleport herself and others using areas of shadow as gateways. The teleportation can cover huge distances; on one occasion she transported the X-Men from America to Africa in a few seconds. She can also teleport through the shadows of other dimensions.

Psylocke also possesses limited precognitive powers that occasionally allow her to envision probable future events, or to see quick flashes of the future. However, these visions are random and infrequent, and she has no control over them.

So then technically I drafted the phoenix force as interpreted by Jean Gray....

Marvel is great, but I need to deviate and get someone a little normal just for the underdog factor ;)

My Pick:
Solid Snake - Metal Gear Solid
Snake_Shot_by_Artgerm.jpg

Snake? Snaaaake!
He is legit.
I'm using the "in his prime" rule here, because in MGS4 he is Old Snake.

Solid Snake is a combination spy, special operations agent and mercenary of FOXHOUND, a fictional black operations and espionage unit. He is repeatedly tasked with disarming and destroying the latest incarnation of Metal Gear, a bipedal nuclear weapon-armed mecha. Controlled by the player, Solid Snake must act alone (or with the help of allies he meets during missions), supported via radio by commanding officers and specialists.
snake_legend_by_nefar007.jpg

Solid Snake has been described several times as very "cool, calm and collected", even in the most extreme circumstances. It is likely this ability to remain calm and collected that allows him to win through in the toughest situations, and certainly adds to his "tough-guy" image. His best friend Otacon, in response to discussing Snake's defeat of an M1 tank with purely grenades, told him that he was the "toughest, craziest, most hardcore badass on the planet", summing his friend up as "the ****".

However, Snake clearly does not have as high an opinion of himself as others do of him. Although he has been called a hero many times by different people, he has invariably denied it, claiming: "There are no heroes in war" and, after his accelerated ageing: "I'm just an old killer". On that subject, he displays an almost vindictive frankness towards what is really murder, claiming that some people "just need killing", as was (originally) his opinion on his patricide against Big Boss. Although he seems to resent himself for this, pointing out (in Sniper Wolf's case) that people always have a choice to make something better of themselves, and describing fate and karma as "just an excuse for giving up". Naomi Hunter disagrees with him on this, as shown by how once reflected that "if she hadn't been born on a battlefield she would have lived a happier, more promising life". His resentment is further evident by his statement to Meryl: "Unfortunately, killing is just one of those things that gets easier the more you do it." He would, however, give comfort to those in the midst of dying.

I was going to go with a different wizard, but I'll take this one instead.

I take Richard Rahl, the Seeker of Truth.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Rahl

Richard has always had a hunger to learn and was named "Seeker of Truth" by his grandfather, Zedd the First Wizard. He always insists on knowing the truth of things. He does not fear the truth, nor does he always tell the truth, if a lie would be more convenient. He has a moral compass that always steers him in the right direction. His earliest skills were an intimate knowledge of plants and herbalism as well as tracking, pottery, and archery. Richard was born with the ability to ask questions that fill people's minds with pictures that make them answer, even when they had no intention to do so and even when this is not Richard's intention. Richard sometimes thinks of it as a curse. Zedd is like a second father to him. Richard has never wanted power and prefers to be left alone.
Despite being a Seeker of Truth, Richard has always hated riddles (inherent in most prophecies). He considers them an insult to honesty and ignores them as a matter of principle. He solves riddles of life, not words, although he has often had to solve those as well, despite reluctance.
As the series progresses, Richard discovers that he has supernatural or mystical powers of magic; his official title is a 'War Wizard'. This power is supposedly the source of his proficiency of many crafts, most notably his skill with any form of blade, whether in fighting or carving.
Richard Rahl, is now the Seeker of Truth; Master Rahl, the ruler of D'Hara; and a war wizard, the first in 3000 years. He is a blademaster and a master sculptor.

Richard is fiercely loyal, often committing himself needlessly into combat to save his men, friends, or innocent people. He would die for anyone he deems deserving of life. In battle he is unparalleled, and is known to "Dance with Death"; i.e. commit himself to his feelings and call forth the knowledge of all those who wielded the Sword of Truth before him, his instincts and has resulted in his single handed defeat of 30 Baka Ban Mana Blade-Masters, or on another occasion 150 armed guards. The latter engagement was fought, not with the mighty Sword of Truth, but a simple short sword, proving that the Sword of Truth is a tool that the Seeker uses but does not make the Seeker in of itself.
