Superhero Draft - team write-ups and post-draft rankings to be done

Exuse me while I get my Nerd Mode on....

erm...erm...When S.H.I.E.L.D. attacked Cable for threatening the world's supply of nuclear bombs, Deadpool was assigned to join the X men and infiltrate the base.

quick question, to anyone who's seen the movie: in x-men origins, is deadpool the dude cutting bullets with swords? i'm only accustomed to seeing him in his red/black mask. and who is the asian guy in the movie with the blazing guns?

Yes, Deadpool is played by Ryan Reynolds in the new Wolverine flick (last seen cutting a bullet in half while it was being fired at him). I thought they did a good job with his character, though I've heard they diverted quite a bit from his comic book version. As to the Asian guy, he was called Weapon Zero, but I have no comics knowledge of him...I was wondering the same thing myself:).

Weapon Zero/ Agent Zero is in the comics, but I think he is supposed to be German.

As for diverted, Jespher?

Try 'very loosely based.'

Late again. Sorry

Link (Legend of Zelda)

Link is my guy. No super powers, minus the triforce, but a hero of Hyrule nontheless.

Armed with a trusty sword and shield, oh and bombs, magic wands, deku nuts, slingshots, bow and arrows, etc, etc.

The nice thing with Link? Built in eye candy (see Zelda) and no personality conflict with the others (we hope).

Oh, and I'm calling Hyrule as part of earth. Deal with it.

Love it. Great pick.

The Villains will be trembling from those mighty Deku Nuts. My favorite Link power is his ability to find money, arrows, and bombs in bushes and under rocks:p.

Yeah he was Maverick in the comics, or from what I remember him in the animated series. I guess they wanted to diversify the palette of the cast something they didn't care about when they created these comics a half century ago.

I noticed there is a recent influx of Korean drama/singers in a lot of sci-fi/action movies recently. Agent Zero in X-Men, Yamcha in Dragonball and Stormshadow in GI JOE. Sorry John Cho you don't make the cut since he got his start in the US.

In Korea like in Hong Kong if you have a marketable look they will teach you the language and skills to get into the mainstream media. Being half korean a couple friends always joke I should head on over and give it a try, but I'd probably be casted as "Get's punched in the face" or "waiter number 2."

You do realize that they don't REALLY punch you in the face in movies, right?

Well...they might make an exception in your case...maybe its best you stay away. ;)

Look at the flip side. If you had the looks, you would end up with some weird terminal illness and die in a Korean movie. :p

Mario? Link? Sammus? Lion-O? What is going on? Is this a select any character from your childhood trend? I think my next superhero pick will be John Boy Walton, but I will need to wait my turn...

X-23

x-23.jpg

Now for the eye candy. Not only is she smoking hot she is a BADASS. I mean when you are the female clone of Wolverine you must have sum sort of badassness to you. The only differnces of her and Wolverine is the fact that Wolverine is a guy, and she has only two claws on her knuckles, but she also has claws that retract from her feet.

Powers

X-23 is a female clone created from Wolverine's genetic material. Consequently, her mutant powers are similar to his. Like Wolverine, X-23's primary mutant ability is an accelerated healing factor that allows her to regenerate damaged or destroyed tissues with far greater speed and efficiency than an ordinary human. Injuries such as gunshot wounds, slashes, and puncture wounds completely heal within a matter of minutes. Her healing factor is developed to such a degree that she can reattach severed limbs. She severs her own hand to escape the restraints placed on her by Kimura[7] The effects of her accelerated healing powers extend to her body's immune system, rendering her immune to disease and infection. She is also immune to most drugs and toxins. Due to the effect of X-23's mutant healing factor, her physical senses, strength, stamina, agility, and reflexes are heightened to superhuman levels. Like Wolverine, X-23 possesses retractable claws sheathed within her forearms. She releases the claws through the tissue of her knuckles, leaving small wounds which are healed by her healing factor. Unlike Wolverine, however, X-23 has only two claws that emerge from her fists. She possesses a single, retractable claw housed within each foot.

In case we need some marital support, it's nice to know how my spouse is feeling, and that is why I need a telepath. This one comes from some exquisite stock. Rachel Summers is the daughter of Jean Grey (Marvel Girl) and Scott Summers (Cyclops). She inherited her mother's psychokinetic and telepathic abilities, and also acted as vessel to the phoenix force. She's all the power of her mother sans the crazy, uncontrollable dark phoenix vices. Now Silver Surfer will have some company when he wants to travel around in space. With my 4th choice, I select:

Rachel Summers (Phoenix AKA Marvel Girl)
Jeangre.png

711759-rachel_summers_super.jpg

Powers and Abilities:
Rachel is a mutant who possesses the various psionic powers including telepathy, psychometry, and telekinesis as well as limited time manipulation abilities.

Rachel's later level of power is not yet known; in most cases it appears less extensive than the abilities she has displayed as the Phoenix. She was, however, able to more than hold her own against the immensely powerful Gladiator with the aid of the Phoenix echo in X-Men: Emperor Vulcan #5. Rachel is considered an Omega-level mutant just like her mother. The future Sentinel, Nimrod once classified Rachel as an Omega class mutant several years before the Omega-level term came into being.

She is described as having virtually unlimited psychic potential, unlimited potential being part of the definition for Omega-level mutants.

Rachel was bonded to the Phoenix Force for many years as "the one true Phoenix", and had its cosmic powers at her disposal. As Phoenix, Rachel demonstrated heightened psi-powers as well as the ability to manipulate energy and life-forces, and a limited cosmic awareness. Rachel's connection to the Phoenix power was lost in the distant future and did not return with her when she traveled back to the early 21st Century (present) of Earth-616. However, this did not mean she could never host the Force again.

Recently, Marvel Girl absorbed a residual echo of the Phoenix Force left in the sword of a previous host, a Shi'ar named Rookshir. Its full effects are unknown at this time. It was revealed in Uncanny X-Men #481 that the power Rachel has is not the true Phoenix Force, but a shadow or echo of it, which is less powerful, but easier to control. In X-Men: Emperor Vulcan #3 when she manifested it in the form of the familiar fiery bird image with which the Phoenix is commonly associated. In issue #5 of Emperor Vulcan, the echo is also powerful enough to allow Rachel to survive in and fly through the vacuum of space without the need for additional protection.

Marvel Girl exhibits a Phoenix emblem energy signature, which appears over her left eye whenever she uses her powers, and can manifest a shadow form (much like the shadow form Jean Grey-Summers gained when she absorbed the telepathic powers of Psylocke). After regaining a small portion of the Phoenix Force echo, the Phoenix emblem over her eye changed from a gold Phoenix emblem to a version made of electric blue flame. Since she gained the Phoenix echo she no longer manifests the shadow form.

Marvel Girl's "virtually unlimited" telepathy allows her to read minds and project her thoughts into other's minds as well as form mind links that can connect her with another despite great distances or power inhibitors. Rachel has honed her telepathy to sense, locate and track other mutants based on their thought patterns, but has a moral apprehension about using this telepathic skill based on her experiences as a Hound. Rachel can use her telepathy to project a blast of psi-energy that can disrupt the higher functions of the brain, and defensively shield her mind from other telepaths, create illusions, sensory invisibility and edit memories. In addition, Rachel has demonstrated the ability to telepathically block access to super-powers, control minds, repair minds, and swap minds from one body to another.

Rachel's telepathy, though unlimited in raw power, was mitigated by her limited training and techniques. This was proven in Uncanny X-Men #452, where the admittedly less-powerful (yet more experienced) Emma Frost was able to outflank an incredulous Rachel in a contest on the astral plane. She has had training from Professor Charles Xavier while he was depowered. He allowed her to download his knowledge about telepathy from his mind directly but also trained her in a more traditional fashion.

By using telekinesis, Marvel Girl can manipulate matter down to the atomic level. She can channel her telekinesis to create force fields and fire concussive psionic force blasts. By using her telekinesis to levitate herself, Marvel Girl can fly at incredible speeds. While all depictions portray Rachel as an extremely powerful telekinetic, the limitations of of her hard-psi capabilities have been somewhat inconsistent. Some instances have depicted Rachel's telekinetic potential to be nigh-unlimited as well, whereas others have shown here struggling against, and even outmatched by, even non-Omega-level telekinetics such as Psylocke. Nonetheless even without the Phoenix, Rachel was able to create a micro black hole, levitate an entire city for a time, and sustain shields that withstood Jovian atmospheric pressures. Moreover, Rachel's later telekinetic fine-motor control allowed her to alter molecular valences, create a psychic sword (much like Psylocke's psychic katana ) and even rewrite human genomes and sense and manipulate residual energy to generate psychic manifestations in the form of psychometry of past event.

In conjunction with Marvel Girl's ability to astral travel through astral projection, Rachel can combine her telepathy with her abilities to manipulate time — "chronoskimming" — allowing her to temporarily transplant a person's mind and send it through time into a younger/older version or a close ancestor/descendant, or as a disembodied astral form. Rachel combines her ability to manipulate time with her telepathy and telekinesis with varied effects including the unconscious emanation of a fourth dimensional pulse which creates a chrono-shield protecting her from changes in the timeline, psychometric projections of past events and physical time travel (a skill that she can now perform without the aid of the Phoenix).

At times, Rachel has been shown to learn new skills extremely quickly. For example, in Excalibur #16, she mastered a set of "demon ninja" sword skills simply by watching her teammate Shadowcat perform them. Rachel also mentions that she had learned lock-picking skills from the Storm of her timeline, knowledge and use of advanced technology and weapons, as well as skills in repairing engines. However, these abilities have not been evident in her more recent appearances.

Even with the powers of the Phoenix, magic and magical objects prove to be an enigma for Rachel's powers. When the Soulsword appeared near the Excalibur lighthouse headquarters seeking Kitty Pryde to become its new wielder, Rachel attempted to remove it from the bedrock it had embedded itself into in order to alleviate her friend's apprehension. Despite using the full extent of power permitted by the Phoenix Force, Rachel was unable to remove the sword, which she then surmised only Kitty Pryde could remove. This could be the reason why Rachel has not telekinetically removed the Shi'ar deathmark on her back, although Nightcrawler theorized that this was only because Rachel didn't wish to remove it.

And now to tie the team together, I need a mentat. Someone who can teach, lead, protect, and coach from either the sidelines or the front lines. This character is rather obscure, but is plenty powerful, and compliments my hero's powers and chemistry perfectly. It also helps that she brings with her some S£im Citris friendly hotness to the party:). She is like Ando, Nightcrawler, Neo, that friend guy from Quantum Leap, Cable, and Psylocke all rolled into one. With my 5th choice, I select:

Sage

Sage-xxm19.jpg

Powers:
  • Sage's main mutant power is the ability to sense the mutant potential in others, activate it under the proper circumstances, and to advance existing mutants into the next level of their power.

  • Her mutation also grants a computer mind -- in addition to possessing a perfect memory, she can process data much faster than even the fastest of computers -- whatever she sees, she remembers. Whatever she remembers, can be recalled in an instant, with perfect clarity, and analyzed with greater speed and accuracy than computers. She uses these "computer-like" abilities in order to analyze and catalogue a latent mutant's or mutant's DNA, necessary for concluding the proper modifications before she jumpstarts them. She also uses this ability to analyze combat situations, her general environment and the behavior of others.

  • Sage multitasks on a superhuman level and it is implied she is constantly tackling many mental obstacles at once. In X-Men Unlimited vol. 2 #1 (April 2004), Sage battles an opponent, reviews previous battle footage from memory, and plays an Internet game of chess simultaneously, with little or no effort at all.

  • Sage is a telepath, however for a long period of time she had "shut them down" because the thoughts and emotions she had received telepathically from the people surrounding her had distracted her concentration. Sage also feared being open to psionic communication would make her vulnerable to the mental domination of Elias Bogan. Given that Sage's mental shields require that concentration and focus of mind, she made the decision to forfeit the use of her telepathy. Following her joining the Exiles, Sage's telepathic abilities have emerged due to her struggle with Roma's memories and Diana Fox. Sage's telepathy allows her to read minds, broadcast thoughts, fire mind-blasts, and other similar abilities.

  • Following her merge with the Exiles' home, the ancient Panoptichron (also known as the "Crystal Palace") Sage has gained access to all of its functions. She can project her image as a hologram, as well as a solid body. She possesses awareness to the Palace's environment, and can teleport objects and living beings from anywhere in the Omniverse.
Abilities:
  • Due to her power, as well as her experiences growing up in wartime, Sage is a formidable fighter. In-comic narration has explicitly established that her combat skills and experience are as deadly as Wolverine's.. Sage observes all the elements of her adversary's fighting style (physical cues, ability, etc.), she analyzes his/her/their fighting style, and predicts probabilities of attack and angles of motion. At the same time she can control her own body completely, allowing her to adapt her movements virtually instantaneously and appropriately to the data.

  • Sage was trained by Professor Xavier to resist mind-control and block telepaths. Her extensive training at the hands of Xavier allowed her to render herself invisible to the mental scans of highly powerful psychics, and even turn their attacks back at them. Sage can reflect attacks based on mind-links, and even use an attacker's mental powers to attack more minds, until the mental link between them is broken. For example, she was once the target of one of Psylocke's devastating psi-bolts and with apparent minimal effort, turned the full force of the attack back at her attacker. In the X-Treme X-Men: Savage Land mini-series, the mutant Leash tries to use her power to mentally enslave others on Sage; this results in Sage, again demonstrating no effort, reflecting the attack and mentally enslaving Leash instead. This ability to reflect mental attacks requires conscious effort from Sage and therefore cannot be accomplished if she is caught by surprise or is somehow incapacitated.
Paraphenalia
* Sage uses a pair of cybernetic sun-glasses that allow her to access and interface with computers and data networks.
* She frequently carries and uses firearms and edged weapons, and is highly skilled in their use. Her firearms are sometimes loaded with stun ammunition.
So to summarize...Sage exists in the nexis of the Omniverse, and can teleport any being (or thing) anywhere in any universe through astral projection. She has a mentat rationalizing capacity and can multitask at godlike rates. She can also appear in hologram or physical form in any part of the universe. She has lots of combat knowledge, and even surpasses Wolverine in battle strategy and effectiveness. Furthermore, her innate ability to unlock, understand, and further the power capabilities of others will improve my team immensely. Rogue can find out how to harness powers she has borrowed in the past, control them, and control her ability to touch what she wants and keep her powers. Silver Surfer can wield the "Hyper Version" of the Power Cosmic, Aslan can become even more Godlike, and Rachel can surpass the phoenix force in ability without the crazy side effects. She helped Professor X build cerebro, so she can set one up for my island as well, along with computerized security systems, a training center, and mechanized equipment for my team. Plus she has the heart of a hero, the patience of a teacher, and the compassion of a mother. What a perfect fit to my team:).

She "hosted" the phoenix force before. She now has an echo of it, just like in the comic books. Also, having Sage around I could replicate her full potential to Phoenix proportions, hence the awesome combo:).

Ghost Rider (Johnny Blaze)
ghost-rider-superhero.jpg

Skull with flames around it. CHECK
Stunt Motorcyclist. Check
Cool leather jacket. Check
Badassness. Check
Immune to bullest, knives ect. Check

Lets face it, Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider really is the one you all forgot about. What a pick, gosh I am good.

Powers
The Ghost Rider is a human who can transform into a being with a flaming skull and supernatural powers. The motorcycles he rides can travel faster than conventional motorcycles and can perform such seemingly impossible feats such as riding up a vertical surface, across the surface of water and leaping across great distances that normal motorcycles could not match. The Ghost Riders are notoriously hard to injure by any conventional means, as bullets and knives usually pass through them without causing pain. The Ghost Riders possess superhuman strength, enough to easily pick up a motorcycle and hurl it across a room. It has been stated that Johnny Blaze as Ghost Rider can press around 5 tons (or more as seen in World War Hulk )

Each Ghost Rider entity also had abilities specific to him.

Johnny Blaze - Originally when Blaze transformed into Ghost Rider, his body changed but not the clothes he was wearing. In his new incarnation, this is different and his clothes take on a darker, more sinister appearance with a spiked leather jacket and chains. As Ghost Rider, he can cause his motorcycle to transform and surround itself with hellfire or he can create a new cycle from pure hellfire. He is also capable of projecting hellfire as a weapon. Hellfire "burns the soul" without leaving physical injuries on the victim and its effects have been seen as similar to the "Penance Stare."
In his new incarnation, Blaze is now possibly the most powerful hero on Earth. During "World War Hulk" it was stated by Dr. Stephen Strange that Ghost Rider was more powerful than the Hulk and could defeat him, but wouldn't because Ghost Rider only defended the innocent and the Illuminati wasn't innocent. Ghost Rider also has the "Penance Stare" and mystical chain, both of which were specific to the Danny Ketch Ghost Rider. He also now has new abilities including hellfire breath and the ability to produce chains from either his throat or chest. He is also now able to travel between the incorporeal realms.

Ghost Rider wanted to join my team, but Aslan did not approve. A fine choice indeed, and I'm sure his penance stare will be helpful against those pain inducing villains :).
