Superhero Draft - team write-ups and post-draft rankings to be done

I'm thinking somebody mihgt not have sent a PM since I know bdouble was on here this monring to post in the other threads.

Due to recent events in a draft thread, I would very much like it to get back to me as soon as possible. A pick has made me nervous.

Sorry I'll remeber next time, my bad.

Um, guys? GeraldWallace#3 didn't send a PM to bdouble013, so he didn't know he was on the clock. It's not fair to time him out, especially when he posted that he would be making his pick as soon as he got home from dinner. Spike should NOT be on the clock yet. You're penalizing bdouble013 for something GeraldWallace#3 forgot.

No worries VF. Here I am!

Wolverine

I needed an all around bad ***. So I took Wolverine. Neato regenerative powers, Adamantium-infused skeletal system, enhanced strength. Oh, and played by Hugh Jackman, so my island is sexy.

Sure, a little bit of a lose cannon at times, but he can help Gandalf keep the others in-line...assuming he's not the one acting up.

Oh, nice pick, bdouble...

In fact, this draft is actually pretty entertaining from a bystander point of view. :)

Finally, Wolverine is off the board. Nice pick-up:). I was very tempted to snag him with one of my last 2 picks, as I figured he was a first round shoe-in. His personality just didn't work with Aslan though, and I'm already pretty Marvel heavy as it is. An excellent choice!

Dang and here I was thinking Wolverine was going to slip back to me. But it's ok, I have some backups to go with my awesome Goku/Spawn team. :D

Thank You! He doesn't fit into my team, but if he kept dropping I was going to be forced to take him.

P.S. Goku/Spawn/Wolverine would have been a scary line-up.

Was waiting for someone to pick him up. I was going to post the panel from issue where Magneto pulled out his the metal coating of his skeleton and Wolverine survived. When I was 7 that was a big deal.

Wolverine and Hellboy? My alternates and backups are going quick, now, so I hope this means I'll be getting everyone on my main list.

With Supes taking point and Cap providing immediate back-up support, I feel very secure along my frontline. But I'm calling in the heavy artillery to give cover for my franchise players, just in case.

And who better to do that, than a god?

Raiden

raiden.jpg

A brief description of the character, who's greatly watered-down in his "mortal form" of the game series. From Wiki:

"The thunder god of the MK universe is also a protector of Earthrealm. Raiden commands many supernatural abilities such as teleportation, controling lightning, and flight ... an expert at hand-to-hand combat and multiple martial arts styles having practiced the art since the dawn of time ... it is unlikely that Raiden can ever be truly killed. Even if his mortal form is destroyed, Raiden will rematerialize some time afterward. He seeks to destroy anyone who tries to harm Earthrealm."

This highlighted portion might be the most critically role Raiden plays in my squad. He is the "by any means necessary" member of my team, willing to take steps that Superman and even Captain American will not.

Raiden has killed (brutally I might add), placed himself at odds with his fellow Gods, formed pacts with arch-enemies, dabled in necromancy, sacrificed his immortality and in one timeline, destroyed entire worlds to protect the Earth.

But even more importantly, unlike rogue anti-heroes, Raiden is the consumate team player; wise, rational and noble in most regards, acting as a mentor to the "warriors of light".

Raiden provides a needed darker balance to Superman without going too far in the opposite direction and also happens to pack a mean bolt of lightning punch.

Chuck Norris (internet version)

If you have five dollars and Chuck Norris has five dollars, Chuck Norris has more money than you.

There is no 'ctrl' button on Chuck Norris's computer. Chuck Norris is always in control

Apple pays Chuck Norris 99 cents every time he listens to a song.

Chuck Norris can sneeze with his eyes open.

Chuck Norris can eat just one Lay's potato chip

Chuck Norris is suing Myspace for taking the name of what he calls everything around you

Chuck Norris destroyed the periodic table, because he only recognizes the element of surprise

Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one bird.

I, personally, think it should stand. (Even though the bitterness and resentment I feel at not having been clever enough to think of him myself almost makes me want to throw my support the other way out of spite.)

In any case, even if there is a ruling against "real" heroes, I would argue that the mythical interweb version of Chuck Norris, behind whose beard hides a third fist, is every bit as created/written as anyone in a comic book.

Chuck Norris is acceptable in this draft as he is not a historically political or current religious figure. He definitely is a superhero. Unfortunately, you will need to specify which version of Chuck Norris you will be drafting (actor/specific role/gunman/martial artist/etc.).

If all that is holding up this pick is a "complaint" by me then I'll gladly rescind it.

Really, have no problem with the Legend of Norris being drafted for the inspired creativity alone. Just didn't know if he was eligible since Mr. Norris is, in fact, among us.

I doubt it if he was we would already be dead.

Great pick. You just opened a whole new realm of superhero.

Uggggh! Aleksandar you drafted my next player in que. I am tempted to draft the one man who can kill Chuck Norris but it would cheapen both of our picks and he might not be eligible.
