Superhero Draft - team write-ups and post-draft rankings to be done

With Wonder Woman and Iron Man gone, looks like I was right in assuming the other two comic book characters on my list wouldn't make it to my next pick.

I thought you took the Wonder Woman thing rather well -- I was expecting much stomping and screaming. ;)

ok serious this is the third time you did this to someone. Message next time.

Anyways here is my Heroe

The Spectre the spirit of vengeance

In the DC world when the heroes need help they go to The Spectre for help.

Chemistry Counts. And with the harbinger of "Truth, Justice and the American Way" already as my franchise player, I had to think who the Man of Steel would want as a partner.

Captain America

Cap is the pinnacle of human physical perfection, a natural leader, a skilled martial artist and carries around a nigh-indestructable, iconic "boomerang" shield.

Really though, it's not his abilites his history or costume that make him the perfect teammate for Superman, but his ideals.

Sure, he started out as a propaganda symbol during world war II fighting Nazis and Terrorists and ... um, Nazi Terrorists all while draped in the America Flag. But he evolved as a character, embodying the virtues he touted of freedom, justice and truth to the point that the ultimate patriot was actually labeled a traitor.

But Cap refused to yeild, as shown from the excerpt of the Civil War storyline:

"Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right.

This nation was founded on one principle above all else: The requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences.

When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree besides the river of truth, and tell the whole world--

--No you move."

I love the Boomerang shield. You score special "TOY" points with that pick:).

Lets remember our PMs people. We've had a couple mishaps already in the 2nd round alone...

Very impressive team so far.

Yoda - Star Wars

Any questions?

Ah yes, that was the other guy/thing I wanted along with Hercules, but knew that whichever one I did not take would not return.

Although...since I did not get him I guess it behooves me to mention that when you get down to it he did preside over the destruction of the Jedi order while being badly outmaneuverd by the Emperor. ;)

People not sending PMs can really bog down a draft, as we found out last year. If you continue to have problems with a particular person, my suggestion would be to forfeit one of their picks.

Sorry for the delay

the-sentry-most-powerful-superhero.jpg

The Sentry

The Sentry absorbs solar radiation for strength and moves his molecules an instant ahead of the normal timeline. His superpowers include super strength, speed, stamina, and senses, along with the power to create energy fields and of course the power of unaided flight. He also possesses a number of mental powers, having displayed the ability to implant his memories into another person’s mind. To top all that off, he emits a form of radiation that calms down the Hulk, severely limiting the Jade giant’s rage-fueled powers. It’s been mentioned a number of times that he possesses the power of “a million exploding suns” and that he is “the most powerful human in the galaxy”.

And, in the interest of full disclosure, his primary weakness appears to be his mental instability, as he is often referred to as an agoraphobic schizophrenic, and he is very susceptible to mental manipulation and inculcation.

With good old Grandpa Gandalf watching over him, I'm not sure the mental problems should really, er, be a problem. One switch crack with the staff should keep him in line, right? RIGHT?

The Sentry a.k.a The Guy Who Makes Phoenix Appear Stable ;)

When you say schizophrenic, he actually subconciously creates his own archenemy, The Void, which can be as much trouble as any of his team's actual enemies. He also has a tendency to curl up on the floor in a fetal ball.

Sure its a risk. If he behaves, I'm doing great. If not, well Gandalf is gonna be pissed and at the very least it should be fun to watch. :)
I think the Gandalf pick evens Sentry out... I hope... good strategy... unlike the guy who got Phoenix but does not have Professor X... Without professor X, the Phoenix becomes the "Dark Phoenix"... good luck controlling that.

I have Iron man, whop has so much money I can just clone the profa and problems remain solved. Notice I drafted phoenix, not dark phoenix. ;)

nerdfest.

Beast

Beast%201.jpg

Alas, I finally get to pick. Seems like forever since I picked at number 2. But Now with my second pick I pick Beast, One of the most intelegent superheros to date. I think he fits in very well with my Deadpool pick. While also being a super genius He is an excellent hand-to-hand combatant, employing a unique style of acrobhtic combat, from combat training he received at Professor Xavier's and coaching from Captain America. Some say his intelegent is even up to par with Professor X.

Despite his savage appearance, he is a brilliant man of the arts and sciences; he is a world authority on biochemistry and genetics, the X-Men's medical doctor, and the science and mathematics instructor at the Xavier Institute (the X-Men's headquarters and school for young mutants). He is also a mutant political activist. Fighting his bestial instincts and fears of social rejection, Beast dedicates his physical and mental gifts to the creation of a better world for man and mutant. He also has a witty sense of humor.

So I got my surfing buddy, it's only fair to bring along someone for my wife to talk to. With my second choice I select

Rogue
rogue1.gif

Lets see now. Hotness, check (but she's safe with the wife because there is no touching...). Flight, check. Invulnerability, check. Super Strength/Stamina, check. Plus, she has that cool ability of absorbing the powers and memories of those she touches. She's like a sexy, funny Peter Petrelli with a southern accent. Yes please:).

Powers:
Due to the nature of her unique mutant powers, Rogue has had several different abilities over the years:

Mutant powers

Rogue possesses the mutant ability to absorb psyches and abilities of individuals or several beings at once, though the experience can be confusing and disorienting for her. Rogue can absorb the memories, knowledge, talents, personality, and physical abilities (whether superhuman or not) of another human being (or members of some sentient alien races) through physical contact of her skin with the skin of that person (sometimes she also duplicates in herself physical characteristics of her victim). The victim's abilities and memories are absorbed for a one second to 60 second ratio of contact. The victim loses those abilities and memories for exactly the amount of time that Rogue possesses them. In the case of superpowered individuals, she also absorbs any extra abilities they might possess. This absorption usually leaves its victim weakened, and sometimes unconscious. Their powers may also be temporarily weakened or removed. Rogue cannot touch another human being without absorbing their memories, abilities, and superhuman powers (if any) and rendering them unconscious. However, evidence suggests that Rogue's inability to control her powers is psychological in nature. During the times when the Ms. Marvel personality would overtake her psyche, she was able to touch people without any absorption occurring. This fact has not been reconciled since.

This transfer is usually temporary, lasting for a period of time relative to how long contact is maintained, but if Rogue holds on to her victim for too long, the transfer may become permanent, leaving the victim nearly dead. Most often this process happens instantly when Rogue touches someone, but certain extraordinarily powerful beings have proven resistant to Rogue's power, and she may only share part of their memories and power.

As Rogue is absorbing the total psyche of a person, there is a risk of a personality overwhelming her and taking control of her body. It has also been shown that even though Rogue forgets the memories she has absorbed when a psyche returns to its body, remnants, or 'echoes', of the personalities of victims whose memories she has absorbed remain buried in her subconscious indefinitely, and while there is little to no risk of those personalities overwhelming her like the Ms. Marvel personality could, they can occasionally make their presences known.

Ms. Marvel powers

As a young woman, Rogue permanently absorbed certain superhuman powers and the psyche of the original Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers). This provided her with superhuman strength, stamina, durability, and the ability of flight. Rogue also gained a psychic "seventh sense" that enables her to anticipate an enemy's move subconsciously during battle. When she possessed Carol Danvers' psyche, her "double" consciousness made her highly resistant to telepathic probes, which was said to have been a byproduct of two minds existing in one body and/or Carol Danvers' Kree physiology. Rogue could also draw upon the combat and espionage training of Carol Danvers by allowing her alternate personality, a duplicate of Danvers', to dominate her conscious mind. She could also survive unprotected in outer space, due to the Kree physiology.

'X-Treme' powers

During the Maximum Security miniseries, Rogue absorbed an injured Cadre K girl named Z'Cann. The girl held on longer than necessary, using her telepathy to boost the process and because of this (perhaps because she had absorbed a fluid Skrull physiology) Rogue mutated further, gaining the ability to 'recall' the powers of anyone she had ever absorbed before, though she could not control when or which of these powers surfaced. For a short time Rogue also had a Skrull appearance, scanned as though she had Skrull DNA and had their shapeshifting powers, but these soon faded and she returned to her normal appearance.

Through meditation, Rogue learned how to suppress the random manifestations of most of these abilities, but found herself with Wolverine's claws and healing factor, and Cyclops' optic blasts for a time (she had to wear ruby quartz glasses), while also still retaining her mutant and Ms. Marvel powers.

Later, Sage used her own mutant abilities to 'jumpstart' Rogue's power, giving her the control to manifest any ability she had ever absorbed, whenever she wished to. Though Z'Cann was a telepath, Rogue never displayed this power (she did manifest telepathy, but it was with the Phoenix energy form, so it was most likely an echo of Jean Grey's powers).

So I've got my surfing buddy, and my wife has another woman to talk to...What I need now is a baby sitter, and I've got the purrfect one. With my third choice I select:

Aslan

aslan.jpg

Aslan is the fantastical depiction of JC himself, so you know he's a trustworthy guy. He is wise, powerful, compassionate, and mysterious. He created Narnia with a song, brings the spring with him when he walks, can make animals talk, is a physical force, has the power to raise the dead (himself included), and create magical artifacts to defeat evil. Plus, he really likes kids! Yeah, what a baby sitter:).

"Throughout the series, it is stated that Aslan is "not a tame lion", since, despite his gentle and loving nature, he is powerful and can be dangerous. He has many followers, which include vast numbers of Talking Beasts, Centaurs, Fauns, Dryads, Dwarfs, Satyrs, Naiads, Hamadryads, Mermaids, Silvans, Unicorns, and Winged Horses. Lewis often capitalises the word lion, since he is essentially God."

Rogue

I was kinda hoping I'd get both, but figured I might not. I was torn which to take first and went with Peter because he doesn't get the personality issue. Nice pick.

OK so that Rogue pick got me scared that some of my late rouund sleepers are going to be picked up if I don't hurry. So that leaves me with no choice but to pick......

Captain Marvel(DC Comics)

CaptainMarvelDC.jpg

Boy this guy is definatley the most powerful guy on my team. Lets get a background check. Captain Marvel is the alter ego of Billy Batson, a youth who works as a radio news reporter and was chosen to be a champion of good by the wizard Shazam. Whenever Billy speaks the wizard's name, he is instantly struck by a magic lightning bolt that transforms him into an adult superhero empowered with the abilities of six mythical figures. Talk about a life. Oh and If your are wondering what his powers are.

Powers
S for the wisdom of Solomon As Captain Marvel, Billy has instant access to a vast amount of scholarly knowledge, including most known languages and sciences. The wisdom of Solomon also provides him with counsel and advice in times of need. In early Captain Marvel stories, Solomon's power also gave Marvel the ability to hypnotize people. (Note that Solomon is the only figure in the list not taken from Greco-Roman mythology).

H for the strength of Hercules* Hercules' power grants Captain Marvel immense superhuman strength, making him one of DC Comics' most physically powerful characters; he is able to easily bend steel, punch through walls and lift massive objects,(Including the whole continent of South America)

A for the stamina of Atlas Using Atlas' endurance, Captain Marvel can withstand and survive most types of extreme physical assaults. Additionally, he does not need to eat, sleep, or breathe and can survive unaided in space when in Captain Marvel form.

Z for the power of Zeus Zeus' power, besides fueling the magic thunderbolt that transforms Captain Marvel, also enhances Marvel's other physical and mental abilities, and grants him resistance against all magic spells and attacks. Marvel can use the lightning bolt as a weapon by dodging it and allowing it to strike an opponent or target. The magic lightning has several uses, such as creating apparatus, restoring damage done to Marvel and acting as fuel for magic spells.

A for the courage of Achilles This aspect gives Captain Marvel the courage of Achilles. Also the Greek hero's invulnerability. It also aids Captain Marvel's mental fortitude against most mental attacks.

M for the speed of Mercury By channeling Mercury's speed, Captain Marvel can move at superhuman speeds. This also gives Marvel the ability to fly to the Rock of Eternity by flying faster than the speed of light.

He was definitely going to be one of my options soon, so you showed the wisdom of Solomon in not waiting too long. :p
