Kings starters:
Amundson F
Gray C
price PG
douby SF
martin SG

Raptors have #1 draft choice Bargnani in middle:
1Q
Amundson gets tip again vs. 6-11 Rarghani but raps get ball, graham for 2; martin foul, misses first, 1/2; full court press, amund steal on transition but throws ball away; amund blocks jumper by graham; Taj vs. Barghani; Barrent (Raps main PG) long 2; Barret gets garbage and corner 2; martin takes charge on raptors fast break; price tight D on Barret; 6:08 left, raps up 10-2; Bargnani getting rebs and controls middle; rap alley oop to Bargnani, bam!! raps 12-4; Kings still trying to get started.

after TO full court press, works partially; williams in for Amundson who just got 2nd foul; lampley in for gray; Bargnani intimidates Gray on shot in lane, dbl dribble; kevin fouled on hard transition drive, makes 2: raps 12-6 @4:35; Kevin another hard quick drive to bucket gets fouled again; Kevin really being agrressive; quick 3 by Price; Pooh in for Douby; 2:56 to go in 1st, 14-9 raptors

Kings steal inboud again, Price hits for 2nd 3!! Lampley blocks dunk attempt, jump ball; Price getting agressive to basket too; Kevin handling ball nearly every time down, quick move to bucket but quicker handoff to williams for easy layup, fouled, 3pt play; Lampley drives baseline, stops short for 3ft jumper; end 1st 22-18 raptors

Quick observations: Price more agressive on D and offensive; Artest not here and cisco here (on bench) but doesn't appear dressed to play;

thanks for the write-up/update
looks like k.mart have been very aggressive in the summer league w/ all the drives toward the basket

Ron's at the NBA All-star celeb game in LA... he'll be back tomorrow for the Knicks game.

Definitely liking the stuff about Price.

Great so far, CruzDude. Thanks so much. We have someone named Pooh on our team?

Must resist obvious comment...

eugene pooh jeter :D

good to see price doing his thing, isnt cisco supposed to get an x-ray done on his left foot or sumthin?

I hope j-dub has a good game too

eeek!! hope he's nothing like the LAST Pooh in the NBA, Pooh Richardson.:D He was very disappointing once he left UCLA.

great to hear Kevin being aggressive, but what's the point? that he can dominate rookies and undrafted players. Pull him and let's see what Douby, Price, Williams, Gray and Amundson can do.

end first half:

2Q
Pooh tear drop misses, put back by Maraker; on floor for kings:
Maraker
Lampley
ooh
Douby
Willaims
Pooh a little guy but keeps going around screens not in front and his guy making most shots; Douby for long corner 2; raps 2, transition drive by Douby hard, draws blocking foul, 2 FTs; Amundson back in; raps PGs scoring at will on Pooh; Martin in for Pooh w/Douby, Maraker and Lampley; Maraker fights in crowd for rebound, out to Douby at top of key for 3: WOAHHHH. lampley misses short tear drop and from no where Amundson flies in for tomahawk jam of the rebound. Place goes NUTS; raps score on two trips down; Price hard drive to basket fouled makes 1/2; Maraker 20 ft jumper; whoa, raps up by 10 42-32 at 3:22; they are making transition and long jumpers; Bargnani suddenly makes a smooth 3 and raps are up 45-32; 2min later its 48-35; Williams takes reb from Bargnani; martin drives and fouled by Bargnani; Maraker drives from side to FT line, jumper for 2; looks good;

interesing item; no one fouls out of summer league game and teams don't start shooting FT until 10 team fouls,. Every team averaging around 35 fouls per game. End first half 52-39 raps. Difference: no artest!!!

I'll pass your request down to the coaches...... then run!!! :D

Um, Douby, Gray and Amundson started with Kevin, didn't they? I think it's great Kevin gets in a little early work with the new coaching staff. It's not like he's old, or been in the league forever. He's got things he's been working onn this summer that he needs to hone in real competition.

CruzDude, what are the biggest differences you see with the new coaching staff. I know you have mentioned they have done some full court pressing. How much?

Third Quarter:

3Q
Martin
Price
Douby
Amundson
Lampley
First 2 rap possessions met with full court press, works fairly well; Kevin fouled hard shooting 3, makes 3 FT; fast break pass to Douby, pulls up for 24 ft 3pointer; down to 60-54 Raptors; TO; raps try to inbound, Douby bats it into 2nd row; Amundson drives on Bargnani, stops, fouled, shooting 2, makes 1/2; back and forth; Douby drives, is bumped, does a sky hook for 2 from 10ft, bit of a "wow"; 62-57 at 2:53 left in 3rd; Williams and Pooh in for Amundson and Price; then Maraker in for Martin; sky rebound by Williams and great put back; then big time block other end; Bargnani hits a 2nd 3!!!! raps 69-59; transition bucket by Douby, fouled, makes FT; 42 sec left in 3rd; clock running down, Pooh makes another bad decision and trys to drive middle on Raps big guys who plunk it into 3rd row; end 3rd 69-62 Raps;

Pretty much a back and forth quarter; Pooh not making good decisions; our Bigs all doing well; Bargnani has hit 2 3's and looks good doing it; Price has bulked up; Markaker looking better and good offense;

CruzDude, what are the biggest differences you see with the new coaching staff. I know you have mentioned they have done some full court pressing. How much?

The first 3 Raptor possessions of the 3rd were full court pressed, looked ok but raps overcame ok; Price is much more agressive this year and looks bigger and stronger; as to coaching styles hard to say. It is summer league and teams are averaging 35 fouls + per game; definitely more defense then at any previous summer league for Kings;

Fourth Quarter

4th
again, first 2 rap possessions met with Kings full court; looks ok but it IS summer league;
Price
williams
martin
douby
Maraker
Amundson in for Maraker at 6:16, Raps 74-68; after TO, martin hits a corner 3; 74-71 Raps at 4:55; Douby alley oop to Martin for 2: 74-73 Raps; Kings rebound Raps miss, fast break, foul, side out; TO at 4:12; This is a good 5 on floor; Price drives thru for easy layup; Kings lead 75-74; Kings D stymies Raps and they call time out at 3:49 left in 4th. Price drives, feeds to Martin who is fouled shooting a 3, makes 2/3; Amunson fouled trying an ugly running hook-layup, makes 1/2: Kings up 78-74 with 2:38 left; Douby's outside threat enough that Bargnani defending him this time down; Price steals long Raptor inbound pass, hustles down, drives baseline and gets foulded, makes 2/2; 81-76 Kings at 1:50; inbounds to Raps, can't set a play and Bargnani off foul; Martin fouled makes 1/2; Douby is a really good dribbler...... Martin fouled again; makes 2/2; Kings up 84-78 with 42 seconds left; Kings defense holds, Douby fouled with 2 sec to play, makes 2/2. Final Kings 86 Raps 79;

This 5 on the floor will be at training camp IMHO: martin, price, douby, amundson and williams; heck Ray Charles could see that happening.

Kings D came through for them in 4th bottom line.

Thank you once again, CruzDude. I'm really starting to get excited about the 2006-2007 Sacramento Kings!

:D

Whoops, Big time SNAFU here at hotel. Spent 20 min writing up final observations on everyone and the team only to find out the hotel internet service kicked me off and wanted me to re-register again in the middle of a session. So wil rewrite whole thing and get out ASAP.... but have some locals taking us out to dinner and may not get it done until later.

thanks for the summary, Cruz! any idea how many blocks and rebounds Williams got today? the official box never seems accurate.

I saw at least 3 blocks and several more when he and Amundson were in the same crowd. Also a number of blocks resulted in fouls so will not show up in stats as a block.

Wow, sounds like a great game. What a come back. I'm looking forward to see Martin, Price, Doubly, and Amundson (and maybe Williams) this season. Winning these Summer League games I know do not mean much, but it's a precurser to things to come. I'm excited, and can't wait for Artest to come back next game. And sorry to hear the news about Garcia... I guess if it had to happen, might as well be in the off-season.

Wow, Martin shot 24 free throws in 33 minutes...and Bargani had 10 fouls in 28 mins, while Taj had 6 fouls in 8 minutes. That Douby kid had 20 points in 30 mins on 60% shooting, not bad at all.

CruzDude, when Douby threw the alley-oop to Martin, was he bringing the ball up at the time? Also was wondering how much he's been playing point and how his ball handling and passing has looked? Sounds like he hit some shots tonight.

Ok, not in any way to try to steal CD's thunder, as obviously he has been watching these games + I have not, but just wanted to link to the boxscore:

With a few comments.

1) Amundson -- celebrated his new contract wityh a subpar performance, 5pts 3rebs 6fls? Oh well, he's already got it made + we'll see what he can do in camp.

2) Williams put up good numbers again -- 5pts 9rebs 3blks, and another 6fls. Maybe approaching the point where he gets the invite too? Of course at the rate he's fouling he might not be able to last 10 min/gm in the NBA.

3) Gray got 6 fouls in only 8 min. That can't help his cause.

4) Yemi didn't play again, and I just have to imagine his lack of minutes is a bad sign for him gettign the camp invite.

5) Douby broke out and showed his scoring ability. From the box looks like he was the SG.

6) Kevin has had a strange SL, and today was the most Wadesque game of all. 27 points on 8 shots! Of course it helps when you rack up 20-24 FTs. And in the whole summer league he is only shooting 36% but is still averaging 22.3ppg because he is drawing foul after foul.

7) I have absolutely no idea why we would waste 23 SL minutes on Sean Lampley with all the young guys around hungry for minutes.

8) Toronto's #1 overall Bargnani picked up a ridiculous 10 fouls in only 28 minutes. NBAers Joey Graham and Kris Humphries also got 7 apiece.

9) Just looking at our minutes tongiht, I would have to guess we went ahead and started the mini-Price/Douby backcourt and Kevin was the SF. Those guys ate most of the minutes at those spots. Also likely explains all t he foouls ont eh Raptors SFs and Kevin's FT parade.

10) aardvarks are damn sexy
