Why would you think that?

It's been clear to me that there is a contest of wills going on in this organization, with the players on one side and the front office on the other.
The players do not want to win for this management. Cousins has been VERY clear that he believes the management doesn't know what they are doing (his repeated insistence on DEFENSE proves it).
You're talking after the fact, what's occurred since the firing, everything leading up to now. I'm talking right after Corbin took over, that at that time I didn't see this turning south to this extent. Not this quickly. I expected mismanagement, I however didn't expect gross, franchise-altering level mismanagement which is rotting out every last good thing we had going.

I personally doubt anyone after the firing thought it'd get this bad, this quickly. This is pretty much bottoming out and we're still weeks prior to the AS game. I sure don't remember reading those posts.

Rudy, Cuz and our starting five are good enough that even after get blind-sided, and even with a worse coach, they should be at least competitive, around .500 or pushing near it and in the playoff discussion. We have the top center in the world and top 5 player on the planet. There's numerous coaches who would at least keep this team competitive on a nightly basis.

we have a better team than a LOT of teams. i think we have a better team than New Orleans, who is very close to the 8th seed.

but we are currently playing worse than almost any team in the NBA.....

#NBAKings 5-15 since firing Michael Malone. Only Magic, Knicks, Lakers & Wolves worse over that span. 3 of Sac's 5 wins since vs. NY/LAL/MIN

Shh it's cos Cousins still isn't healthy #SacramentoProud #Pace #Doyouhaveabilliondollarcompany?

So everybody is 100% sure that there is NO WAY Vivek can pull a George Steinbrenner and rehire Michael Malone after he cans Pete D'Alessandro (or simultaneously)? Because that would be really the smart splashy thing to do right now. PDA will have plenty of severance and being a martyr just sometimes goes with the territory (assuming PDA is really doing Vivek's bidding here all along). As long as Vivek didn't get personally get his hands specifically dirty in the Malone firing, why not?

that would require mully & bratz to be removed as well. dont see it happening. we'd be right back at hiring coach b4 gm again.

It's the only thing that could possibly restore fan morale, player performance, and ticket sales... all in one fell swoop.

On one hand, I didn't really think the team (with Malone) would make the playoffs. I thought they would be toying with a .500 season and that would be a great success.

On the other hand, your right, I did not expect this. You not only have to worry about the player's mental state let alone the paying customers (sorry their a little more important than us eastern time zone fans) but also about the sponsors. Do they start to get cold feet?

Interesting quote from Cousins in the paper after the game...basically said that no defensive plays were being drawn up, just for the hell of it. Soooooo.... Are they going with part of the Reno system? Open shots, open 3's for the opposing team? I hope so because then maybe the FO can put away the concept of the Reno system as we have been torched for a record number of 3's in back to back games.

I am amazed, amazed I tell you:) There are those with the opinion that the Kings should be playing better and winning games.

The Kings are a rudderless ship folks. Cast adrift in the rocky seas that is the National Basketball Association. It is a mans league where guys are only too happy to step on you when you are down.

Mike Malone is a good leader. He got the players to buy into his plan. In turn all of us fans then bought into his plan. The FO did not like his plan because he preached an old fashioned brand of basketball..........wait for it..............defense wins. This it folks, DEFENSE WINS. What the FO does not understand is the loyalty people can have to a good leader.

Any plan is better than no plan. And Mike Malone's plan was better than the FO's plan...........................are you listening Vivek????? Do you care?????

As an aside Ty Corbin mentioned "pace" at least 4 times in the ritual that is the post game head coaches interview.

Actually I am amazed that I still care enough to watch it. Thank heavens for the awesome DVR I have:)

Does anyone even care? I purposely avoid watching games now.

I still care.

However, let me clarify a couple of things as I have been painted as a pollyana and/or some kind of apologist for what has happened a couple of times on this board. I have always thought the the firing of Malone was a bad decision. However, I choose to accept it. I choose to accept it because 1) it happened and I have no control over it, and 2) losing games is bad enough. I did not want to lose my mind as well.

I am very competitive. I hate to see my team lose and this is embarrassing.

Also, I had no expectations that we would be very good this season even with Malone. I think I predicted 29 wins this year. The reason being is our back court is very poor. I continue to say to myself "if DC is our best guard and then there is a significant drop-off from there, realistically how good can we be?" My answer, "not very good."

When the subs came in last night and Grant said we now have Sessions and Nick in the back court, I literally said OMG outloud and the only one there to hear me was the dog.

I still maintain that we need a better backcourt far more than we need a better coach. Our guards get shown-up pretty much very single night.

Did I mention that I am embarrassed?

I think what most people are missing about our bench is that to me a good bench is all about coaching.

Look at the best benches in the NBA by ranking:
http://www.hoopsstats.com/basketball/fantasy/nba/teamstats/14/7/diffeff/1-1

The list isn't perfect by any stretch, but it's still a nice stat to get a general feel. To me bench play is all about having a little bit of talent, but a lot of STRUCTURE. When you have a system, ball movement, and roles for each player then you can get by with just decent talent. Does anyone else think that San Antonio has had such success finding diamonds in the rough not just because they have great scouts, but because they can plug these players in and they play to their full potential? How many players play as well as they did with SA anywhere else?

With the Kings, the bench comes in and it's like a pick-up game. Lots of one on one, weak screens, and forced shots. Nobody knows what the hell they're doing out there.

You Sac fans should start Bring back Malone chants at the arena. This is just depressing to see and it will not end well. I will not be surprised if Cousins demands a trade this summer.

But remember guys, we could have lost the team a couple of years ago, so we really shouldn't complain about anything, ever. Especially when the new arena is opening in 2016. (Go to Kings.com for more information on season tickets and reserving priority in the new arena!)

I'd call you a bleep, if only I didn't agree with your sarcasm. :)

Wait Carmichael Dave posts under both Carmichael Dave and Tetsujin? I'm confused.

if the Kings are still on this losing streak when the next home game rolls around, who's bringing the paper bags out in Sleep Train?

SA has a System, Front Office and Coaching staff that has been in place for many years. They also have Ginobili and a list of veterans coming off the bench. I think when you look at a good bench you will have at least one player who could start and a few with years of NBA experience as a top 7 or 8 man on a team. Think Jamal Crawford, Lou Williams, Andre Iguodala, Beno Udrih, Taj Gibson, Boris Diaw.....those guys would be one of the top 3 or 4 players on the Kings.

So while I agree an established system where guys have played together a lot helps as in SA. I don't think the Kings have bench players that measure up to those mentioned.

But but but... trading solves everything!

Fun Sad Fact:

Now that the Lakers won tonight, Kings have the longest losing streak in the league. Whooooooo!!

you got the Lakers, 6ers, Knicks, maybe Celtics/Wolves all out here tanking, but the KINGS have the biggest losing streak in the whole NBA
