Stephen A. Smith: complete jack ***, do you agree?

barndoggie

G-League
i started this thread because i'm sick of steven a smith thinking he is the know all guy who is always right but never is. remember back when webb was a free agent that jack *** constantly said he was gone webb told him so blah blah blah no the jerk is doing the same to the poor raptors. i'm not a raptors fan but iknow there pain when it comes to stupid rumors like this. Just curious how you all feel about this guy. personal every time he opens his mouth my ears bleed.

Yeah, I feel as though he gets more of an ego and gets more ridiculous every year. I used to not be able to stand skip bayless and thought he was the epitomy of the egotistical "i cant be wrong" sports guy, but now that steven A smith is on 1st and 10 with skip, he makes skip seem like a calm and cool guy(even tho skip has calmed down and i like him a lot now). Seems like steven A. is tryign to not only deliver sports news, but develop himself as a celebrity on espn or something by having an incredibly outgoing personality.

He honestly never bothered me too much until he called the Raptors idiots on draft night for taking Charlie V. He showed him though, by dropping 50 in a game that season. Can't even listen to him anymore

LOUD, YELLING, rude, arrogant, Philly Insider Mr Know Everything, I guess thinks he's really smart, hip, and cool - but too often comes off like a CLOWN.

Well unlike almost everybody I actually like Stephen A. And i even liked his show Quite Frankly because the man is not afraid to say EXACTLY what is on his mind without sugar coating it, and I respect that

Yeah I respect Stephen A. for saying what's on his mind, but truthfully, more times than not, he is an idiot. I would want to see him and Jim Rome stuck in a room and see what they do.

It's actually possible to speak one's mind without being rude, condescending, arrogant and loudmouthed. So I do not have respect for that kind of "speaking my mind" crap. Too frequently, "I'm just being honest," is a passive-aggressive excuse for being a jerk. Of course, it makes for great showmanship, because a lot of people will tune in just to hear what outrageous remark he'll spout next.

Who? Oh. Yeah, I stopped listening to him a long time ago. Truth is, I only hit ESPN for games. Life is nicer that way.

It's the Jim Rome concept - If I yell loud enough, talk enough **** and make wild *** crazy statements, enough people are bound to listen to me. It works for him. I still think my favorite moment of him was when on live TV he boasted about the BMW 750 that he's driving. Speaking something like "Yeah I'm probably going to upgrade to that 760 series..."

Do you really need that extra $10 K to stroke your oversized ego? Those heat controlled headrests that big of a deal?

you guys are taking stephen a way too seriously. hes just a hilariously ridiculous guy talking (or yelling) about sports. him and skip on 1st and 10 is the most entertaining show on espn for me

Two things:
1. Steven A. Smith makes his money saying controversial stuff, regardless of if it will hurt or help a team or individual and regardless of if it is true or false... when he is critical of guys like Terral Owens or whomever for saying controversial stuff, it makes me laugh.
2. I have never had any respect for Steven A. Smith... what he sells as him "telling it like he sees it" is just his schtick to get ratings. Don't be fooled... think about shows like "The View", they sell because they argue and say inflamatory stuff, not because they have a great perspective that represents women... this is not a new tactic and should be seen as a tactic, not honesty.

Stephen A. is not someone I enjoy listening to. In fact, I think he is a full of himself jerk. As NoBonus says, he uses a tactic to get ratings. I, for one, dislike the kind of tactic he uses. However, that kind of tactic = ratings, so someone listens to him. It isn't going to be me though. I don't care what he has to say.

I think he is moderately entertaining, but i have stopped watching espn. Period. I can't stand it anymore. They over-dramatize sports and have become more like Entertainment Tonight rather than a sports network. I could really care less about these players lives and their antics outside of sports. Who cares if Phelps took a hit off a bong? The sports world has become a joke as of late and has become more about a soap opera than a team. And i hate skip bayless more than anything. He is a complete idiot.

Stephen A Smith is what guys would call a "bit_h".

He ALWAYS tries to talk like he is all cool when he is not. He tries so so hard to make a swagger/style but looks like a fool doing it. Always putting down teams when he doesn't even keep up with whats really happening.
Acts like he knows so many stars when they all don't like him very much.

Whatever happen to that show that he had on FOX?

What I hate more than Stephen A. is how ESPN gets some idiot women to report and they don't understand anything or know anyone's name.

Stephen A Smith is a turd.

As far as ESPN goes, I enjoy it. SC/ESPN News can be stupid, but it is easily the channel I watch the most. I enjoy shows like PTI, and E60 .. I try and stay away from Around the Horn and Rome is Burning.

I hate talking to sports fans who only get there sports fix from ESPN, you can tell within the first ten minutes of a conversation as all they do is recite the exact same things 'espn' experts said yesterday on sports center .. kind of funny actually..

I feel bad for the other guys when theres 4 guys on the panel and one of them is Stephen A. They just have to sit back and agree with him because he never shuts up and turns his volume down until he gets his way. He's kind of like a more annoying Bill Walton. You know every play by play and analyst guy out there cannot stand to announce or talk about sports on screen with either of these two guys. Same with Sean Salisbury when he was doing NFL on ESPN. You get good talk with guys like Tom Jackson and Chris Berman, and just little cry babies acting like teenagers who think they know everything when these other guys are on. They are ok when by themselves and just analyzing things, but when they are having to go back and forth with another person, they are the most irritating people on tv to watch.

He's just as annoying as Bill Walton, and they both should be locked and chained in a room and be forced to listen to Dick Vitale at 135 dB talk about the Duke / N.C. Rivalry.

There, I fixed it for you. I'm fairly sure that is what you were trying to say.

But I get your point :)

Screamin A Smith? That guy is great!

I just love how he swings from Kobe's strap all the time.

He is the biggest loser on tv, he looks like a freaking babboon with that protruding lower lip combined with the almost joker-ish sneer on his face.
