Statistically Kings have drafted 2 top 10 rookies (nba.com ratings)

Jennings stats wise is still the #1 rookie but hes on the decline this week. Reke & Casspi statistically are #2 & #8 in the NBA. Reke is rite behind Jennings by like 1fg, 1rb, and 1 ast averaging.
but the writer at nba.com has our beloved rookie at #1

What are the chances of a team having 2 all-rookie 1st teamers.

I know were only 8 games in but I see promise for consistancy in our rookies.

I love this topic. Something we Kingsfans have never been able to have before. Likely not to happen but what the hey, eh?? Makes sense 8 games in. And in the All-Star game, why not JT on the sophomore team?? :D

For what it's worth, Thorpe was saying on an ESPN chat that he could easily see Omri becoming a 17, 8 & 5 guy (or something like that).

Sure it's speculation, but Thorpe seems to know more than some of the other ESPN "experts," plus it's favorable Kings talk from ESPN:eek:.

Tyreke will be ROY, it was written when he was in highschool, that he would come to the NBA and be. Omri is challenging every single game as a personal mission, and that will be noticed by the all-rookie commission. But, most important if Jason Thompson being second to a Gasol in total rebounds, and tied for 1st in ORPG, while averaging over 10ppg. If my calculations are correct, Thompson is like a top 7 draft pick, Omri should have been picked in the lottery and Tyreke is the ROY, which will justify that he should have been in the top 2(If the kings win a handful(5-6) more games that MIL). .500 , havent seen that in a while.

If a sophomore averaging a double double as well as 4 ast and over 1 blk per game isn't on the sophomore team at the all-star break then something is wrong.

check it out. No suprise Tyreke is number 1 but take a look at number 7.

Also, from that link:

"Honestly, Tyreke's one of the better defensive players in the league already," Westphal told the Sacramento Bee. "He is very, very solid. He's got great defensive fundamentals, and he can guard ones, twos and threes. He's pretty much our best defender at any of those positions."

Woah.

It's a great time to be a Kings fan. We get to be here before the bandwagon starts to list from all the people jumping on.

He didn't make it last year and there was some hand-wringingg on the board. Here's last year's team and where Thompson might fit in:

The locks:
Derrick Rose PG: Young star playing well and rightfully belongs
Russell Westbrook PG: Same as above.
Eric Gordon SG: Same as above, though he's got a groin pull.
OJ Mayo SG: Pretty much same story.
Marc Gasol C: Playing tremendous. Definitely deserves to be there.
Brook Lopez C: Same as above.
Greg Oden C: Thompson's numbers are better in total, but its close, and per minute Oden is better.

Thompson's competion:
Michael Beasley PF: Made it last year. Clear edge for Thompson in numbers so far, but Beasley obviously has the name value.
Rudy Fernandez G-F: Made it last year, but easy edge for Thompson in production.
Marreese Speights PF: He's basically been dominant in 23 mpg. He probly deserves it more than Thompson so far.
Anthony Randolph F: Per-minute better than Thompson, but I think Thompson's flat numbers would edge him. Of course Randolph is also an extremely exciting and entertaining talent that would draw interest.
Ryan Anderson F: He's been very good, but he's missed a couple games and his numbers will drop when Rashard returns.
Roy Hibbert C: Also very good, but there's no way they take four centers on a nine man team.

So Thompson's problem when it comes to the rookie team is just that its a deep class and the team only goes nine deep, there's four PG/Combo types, and three centers who are vitrual locks due to production + name value/entertainment. So that leaves two spots for forwards, ideally one PF and one wing.

I'd say Thompson probly won't make it just because it will be tough sledding against Speights production, Beasley's name (and possible improved production), and Randolph's excitement value. Nothing to get too worried about, he's still an excellent player and would be deserving if chosen.

Of course Thompson's numbers could nudge up and other can drop off.

omri will be in consideration for All rookie team.. he might even participate in the rook vs soph game... which could help the league market wise

can you imagine if reke and omri made the rook team and jason is on the soph team

Ha Ha, I thought this little tidbit about Jennings was funny

My favorite part about a recent interview on ESPN wasn't the fact that 20-year-old Brandon Jennings called 19-year-old Ricky Rubio "kid" on several occasions, but rather the fact that he doesn't know teammate Andrew Bogut's last name. This is not the first time I've heard him call the Aussie center "Bogan". What, like Keith Bogans' (he of the Spurs) long-lost cousin? Regardless, the Bucks went 2-0 this week despite Jennings' subpar stats (14 ppg, 3 apg, 11-for-32 shooting).

A ways to go to the rookie/soph game but Reke is pretty much a lock at this point and if Omri keeps going the way he goes he will probably be on there as well.

Omri doesn't have to do much to get into the Allstar Festivities. If he plays, Israel watches. Omri is a lock barring injury. If Israel airs the R v. S game and omri plays, the NBA would net and extra 2 million dollars, easy.

Since we have an oppurtunity to do decent this year record wise, Thompson will be considered in a greater appreciation during award time.

Jennings strikes back! This will be a fun race to watch. I love how people said he couldn't shoot and he just went 11-19 for 32 points today including a perfect 2-2 on threes and 8-8 on free throws. Priceless!

Brandon Jennings is a monster.........

But anyway I think it may come down to who leads there team to more wins.

jennings is the ****... that kid has so much swagger in his game.

Brandon Jennings is an exciting player off to a great start... but he's not in Tyreke's class. Evans draws constant double teams and is a force on the defensive end as well... their stat lines might look similar but in terms of overall contribution on the floor Evans >>>> Jennings.

he was my 2nd choice behind he who shall remain nameless...

Jennings was? I think I wanted Lord Voldemort, Evans, then Thabeet. Jennings wasn't on my map, shows how much I really know. I'm glad the draft went like it did though, I don't think I could have lived with Evans contributing the way he is for someone else (Minnesota, boooo...)

Jennings is beasting. Considering their last draft pick busted (Alexander), good for the Bucks.

But so is Reke, so I aint sad. As of now the ROY race is looking close. Probably going to be even closer come the end of the season (Blake will be back in it no doubt).

A lot of other teams F'd up passing on Jennings though.

This isnt a list by stats. The disclaimer reads "NBA.com's Rookie Rankings are just one man's opinion and are released every Wednesday during the season. "

If you want to go by stats then PER is a decent way. No it doesn't take into account defense, but stats really don't anyways.

Currently Omri is 6th and Evans is 9th in rookie PER. But breaking PER down I would make it Lawson, Flynn, Jennings, Omri and Evans based on their minutes played of over 20/game. I expect Blair to join that if his minutes go up.

Interesting note that Evans, Jennings and Curry are the only rookies over 30 mins/game. Jennings and Evans are doing something, but curry is stinking it up.

The knicks F'd up big time by not drafting Jennings. They'd love him in NY with his swagger and aggressive play.

Btw, when do we play Milwaukee?
