Sure hopes Shelden doesn't have butter fingers like Mikki does.
Saw that one tooThis one is hilarious... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKHGJurEWQc&feature=related
One of the knocks on him was coordination, which had improved vastly during his college years.
Worst case is he isn't any good, and the trade becomes a salary shedder. Johnson, Lue, and Wright expire this year, and Williams has one more year on his rookie deal after this season. After this season we have about 50 mil in salaries. This would allow us to sign Beno right? I think the trade has a lot to do with keeping Beno next season.
<- From Atlanta, so I watch the Hawks game... and the Shelden Williams some of you guys are describing... is not the same one I'm seeing. He's slow! And the video Nebs posted sums it all up.
I'm not too worried about what the others say...as we know here in Sacramento from years and trades past...sometimes a change of scenery brings out the best in new Kings. And if it doesnt, we only have to worry about it for another season, anyway, so its all good. But the way I look at it, we get a guy who will be looking for a fresh, new start here where I'm sure he will want to show everyone, including Coach Theus, that he belongs. If he brings the best of his abilities to his new team, he will have no problems in making believers out of everyone, in the end. Sheldon Williams is a big, great defensive-minded forward that we all have been wanting for years, we havent really seen a forward like this since the young Michael 'The Animal' Smith left us quite a few years back. Sheldon can bring that same intensity plus alot more...and hopefully will. That's what I've been reading on Hawks fan sites, too...![]()

The height issue is only an inch, and personally I would rather a guy like Williams who is 6'9 raising his arms in defense than a 6'10 guy with 3" shorter reach.[/quote]lol, you talk about reach based on wingspan but didn't bother to look at his actual length that was measured at Orlando PDC. He is ridiculously short in this regard! His reach is around 8'8". And he has poor hands so you can welcome your next Kenny Thomas. Now Kenny is truly expendable.I agree he is a bit short, but check out his wingspan (7'2" wingspan). Stand him next to any 6'11 guy and he will have a higher reach. What he lacks in height he makes up in strength.. The guy is huge, and powerful..

Maybe Candace Parker will want to play for the Monarchs? sweet.

8'8???
Yeah, 8'8" vertical reach is about what you expect to find in GF type. 8'6.6" is the average of all guys who showed up at predraft camp with Williams. To compare a couple of other shortish PFs, Justin's was 9'1", and Carlos Boozer's was 9'.25". I gather that the problem is that SW has a long neck and/or tall head, so for a guy his height his shoulders are pretty far down there, and he ends up with 4 or 5 less inches of reach than the competition.
