SF 49ers: 2009-2010

This is not breaking news but...

-49ers extend LT Joe Staley through 2017. The contract includes $16 mil guaranteed and is worth btwn $37-$43 million depending on Staley's play.

-49ers extend LS Brian Jennings through 2014. I can't find the contract details at the moment, but it is likely vet minimum.

It's good to see McCloughan lock up our players before they hit the market. Jennings is a Pro Bowl quality LS and Staley is looking like he will be a solid LT for a long LONG time. 2017 to be exact :D

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP)—The San Francisco 49ers have signed running back Glen Coffee(notes), their third-round draft pick, to a four-year contract.

The 6-foot, 209-pound Coffee, out of Alabama, is expected to be Frank Gore’s(notes) backup this season in coach Mike Singletary’s power running offense. Coffee ran for 1,383 yards and 10 touchdowns last season for the Crimson Tide. He finished his collegiate career with 2,107 yards on 410 carries with 14 TDs, and 42 catches for 351 yards and two touchdowns.

I have a good feeling about this signing. :)

Or not.
Re-entry threat was just a stunt by a loud mouthed 'advisor'

I still hate holdouts, though.

thank god.

I was really starting to not like this guy. A clown on the radio yesterday had said that Crabtree wanted top 3 money, this article is saying hes looking for DHB money... I don't see anything wrong with that.. Give it to him, so he can get his *** to training camp now..

I will not "forgive" Crabtree until he's got his signature on a contract and his butt in training camp. I'm sick of holdouts and even more sick of stupidity. I'd like to see the NFL institute a salary guideline similar to what the NBA has right now. Completely take the post-draft bartering out of the equation and get the rookies into camp. Let them earn their money once they've proven they're worth it.

Wow. Good game, exciting to the end and fun to watch. If they can keep up that kind of heart and hustle, it should be a lot more entertainnig to be a 49eer fan this season.

:)

2 words.

Glen Coffee.

He looks LEGIT!
And his quotes from the announcers were awesome! He's so full of himself, but in a good way, not a cocky lazy way!

I can't wait to see where he goes.

Yep. This team reminds me - not individually but in attitude and style - of another 49er team. Back in the 80s. I think Bill Walsh would be proud.

I liked what the rookie Nate Davis did too, played well and Coffee was just a beast.

Offensive line was making some big holes...great to see!

All the RB's played well tonight.

Still no pass rush which is frustrating, but the defense looked pretty dumbed down (through my admittedly untrained eye). I think with some regular blitzing that might be improved.

The first string offense looked bad today. Not sure if they were keeping things simple or something like that, but it looked bad. Nate Davis looks like he has some potential. Like to keep him around and see if he can't become something.

Enjoy your preseason Niners...

Go Cowboys!! :D
I have enjoyed my pres-season, AAMOF. Why? Because for the first time in a long time I'm seeing the 49ers take a few very small steps forward instead of continuing to slide backwards.

Most of the Niner fans in here are realists and don't expect a return to the days of the 80s in the near future. But at least we have something to be optimistic about.

GO NINERS!!!

Enjoy your hype cowboys!

Go 49ers! Haha
Eh...I would expect that from a Cowboy fan, actually. lol The pre-season means absolutely nothing to me...it's the 'chum' of the football season, a bunch of 3rd/4th stringers trying to make the team with the occasional bright spot. W's and L's mean nothing...you could go 4-0 or 0-4 in the pre-season and it makes no difference. Glen Coffee has been the bright spot for the Niners...along with Nate Davis, who I've been saying all along should be the starter because he's WAY better than Smith or Hill. Just my 2 cents...

I was just joking haha.

And yeah I think Davis is the best QB on the roster but I wouldn't mind him taking over next year. If he's the real deal then we won't have to spend a first round pick next year on a QB. We could use the 2 picks on a right tackle and a pass rusher. That'd be nice

If Davis were to take over this year sometime down the line during the season then that could mean it's a lost season or injuries to both smith and hill. And as much as I like Davis I wouldn't wanna see injuries or multiple losses as my way of seeing him as a starter.

Is it just me, or is it beginning to look like Michael Crabtree is not going to be a 49er?

Deion Sanders mouths off that two teams are interested in Crabtree and willing to him what he wants.

The 49ers can't trade his draft rights now, but they could sign and trade him to another team. At this point, I wonder if that wouldn't be the best case scenario for the 49ers. I just hope we get good value in return.

I say that the Niners should let him sit there not making any money. Holding out will only accomplish Crabtree making less money the longer it lasts. And should he actually sit out the entire year, does he really think that another team is going to waste a first round draft choice on him? Odds are that he would be looking at a much smaller contract that what the Niners are currently offering him, and that after already missing out on an entire year's worth of salary.

As far as Sanders saying that there are 2 other teams willing to give Crabtree what he wants, I find that hard to believe. If another team even brought up the subject, I am pretty sure that would qualify as tampering. That makes me think it is more conjecture on his part.
