Rondo

Here are some crazy random non realistic wet dream trades I came up with from ESPN's trade Machine:

Kings and Celtics
  • Kings receive: Rondo
  • Celtics receive: Stauskas, Williams, and future 2nd rounder
Kings and Mavericks
  • Kings receive: Brandon Wright
  • Mavericks receive: Landry and Hollins
Kings, Pistons, and Suns
  • Kings receive: Brandon Jennings, Kyle Singler, Gerald Green, and Miles Plumlee
  • Pistons receive: Isaiah Thomas, Darren Collison, and Anthony Tolliver.
  • Suns receive: Josh Smith, Jason Thompson, and Omri Casspi
New Dream Kings Lineup-
  1. Rondo/Jennings/McCallum
  2. McLemore/Green
  3. Gay/Singler
  4. Wright/Evans/Moreland
  5. Cousins/Plumlee
That's an 8th seed playoff team right there! Probably the best bench in the NBA too.

I'll take some of what you're smoking.

I created a mega trade which i think is fair for every team involved. Tell me what you think. Keep in mind this requires a second seperate deal with boston which is a Olynyk for Trade Exception swap because exceptions cannot be packaged with players.

Kings Receive
Rajon Rondo
Josh Smith
Kelly Olynyk

Boston Receives
Jason Thompson
Greg Monroe
Nik Stauskus
Kings trade exception

Detroit Recieves
Carl Landry
Brandon Bass
Derrick Williams
Boston 1st

We get our guys without losing McLemore, and a sharpshooting big man which fills a major need.. Boston gets a good haul in some young players and a solid big in thompson and detroit gets completely free of Smiths contract and as well as receiving landry and that 1st they wanted for monroe. Boston might say no but nevertheless its fun to speculate.

Why would he re sign on a team in disarray without a coach heading the wrong way with contenders like the rockets and mavs sniffing.

Absolutely pointless trade target at this point. Time to move on from this fascination.

No, no, no, no, no, NO.

Rondo doesn't want to be here. We've already shown this past week how unreliable this front office is, as we tricked our own star into committing a contract extension and only after he did fired the coach who was major in keeping him - so why the hell would he even want to stay?

What's the sales pitch gonna be?

"Come to Sacramento, where you get to play under a delusional owner who slowly but surely becomes the laughing stock of the NBA, an ego-maniac GM who doesn't care about winning aslong as he gets to play HIS style of basketball, on a roster that overperformed only to sack the coach who made it happen 20 games into the season as they take advantage of their star being out in the process, and has no real chance of contending in the next few years of your prime"

That must be so alluring!

Just give up the pipe dream that is Rajon Rondo on the Sacramento Kings, Pete. Let it the hell go.

He hasn't been relevant since Pierce and KG joined the Nets. He's just not a good player anymore, dominates the ball and can't shoot. His offensive rebounds often came off picking up his own misses (0.400 from the field). He doesn't want to play for the Kings and there were many reports that he's a bad teammate. Just no to Rondo.

He makes sense for Mavs IMO, they are bad at PG.

Rondo will absolutely kill playing pick&pop with Dirk and P&R with Chadler. If Dallas is on board, I'm sure Rondo's agent will ram it through as this would be a perfect situation for Rondo in a contract season. Monta might be upset though.

Rondo is still the best play maker in the league, who can get guys open shots in transition and in the half court. He is and always was a Bad shooter and because of Stevens approach for the celtics he is shooting a tad too much this season.
Should we give up on Ben to get Rondo? No i don't think so. But there is no way you can call Rondo a Bad player.
If this Team wants to play at a faster pace and wants to run more, we need an upgrade at PG. DC is solid but doesn't play the pick and roll well and those early attacks of high pick and rolls before the defense is set, is where fast Teams like the Wizards do their damage, when the initial break is denied.
Rondo may be one of the few PG's thats available, that is able to run this playstyle, cause guys like Paul, westbrook or Wall are going nowhere.

Agreed. Dallas fits Rondo way better, Ethan the Rockets, where Harden creates the plays and needs shooters to space the floor.

Btw. With Cousins able to knock down jumpers and handling the ball, a pick and roll with Cousins and Rondo would be dangerous, cause it would be unpredictable.

It's just a complete waste of time no matter how well he fits here, he does not want to play here, why give up any asset for something like that.

If it was just D-Will then fair enough but obviously they are looking for picks (we dont have any) and a young/good asset a Ben or Nik. I don't care how bad Nik has been I'm not giving him up for half a season of Rondo.

I agree, but did you find any quotes of Rondo, where he really said that he doesn't want to play for the Kings. All I found is an article without quotes, where it's written, that he "indicated he doesn't want to resign with SAC". On top of that maybe our strong start, the maturity of DMC and the play of Gay with DMC in the lineup may have convinced him, that we are not the worst franchise for his post Celtics career.
After all I believe, that he just wants to stay a Celtic and that most of the rumours of him being traded are pipedreams of so called experts and insiders. Rondo always denied having asked for a trade.

His agent will leak that report to put us off trading for him.

This front office will go to a new level of stupidity if they throw long term assets into a half season rental of a player who is already sulking, playing lazy and obviously wants to play on a contender.

Anyway all this talk is asinine as there is no way we could match what the Rockets and Mavs will offer even if we wanted too.

Asked after Wednesday night's 109-92 victory over Orlando if he wanted to stay in Boston, Rondo told reporters, "How many times do you want me to say it? ... My thoughts and my opinions as far as the organization haven't changed."

a person familiar with Rondo's thinking said the possibility of competing for championships in Dallas or Houston intrigues him.

I wouldn't count a "person familiar with Rondo" as a fact. ;)

He wants to go to Dallas or Houston because those teams have great lineups that are missing a PG. Howard/Ariza/Harden or Dirk/Chandler/Parsons/Ellis. That's instant contender. Of course he's interested. Once again, a chance to win is what matters just like it was for Igoudala choosing Golden State. The longer we let this self-defeating cycle continue, the harder it gets to convince anybody that you're a team worth playing for. This is why PR does matter. PDA needs to be proactive, show us he's not incompetent, and find a way to make this team a winner this season. They went way out on a ledge firing Malone and saying an interim coach gives them a better shot to make the playoffs this year. Vivek says they want to spend money, they want to play like the Spurs, they want to be the envy of the league. Great, sounds good. Let's do something about it.

i thought you can't combine trade exceptions with other contracts.

He'll want to go to a big market team and/or a team with big ego players on it. Isn't that how the NBA works when another big ego wants to be traded? Saying they give a damn about winning is just a coverup for more attention.

The Kings don't have time for an egomaniac coming here jerking the team around about staying or leaving.

Yeah, can't really compete with that unless you include Nik or Ben, which is too rich for a potential Rondo rental. Reports are that the Celts came calling but their wants were too high for the Kings.
