[Game] Preseason Game 7: Kings at Jazz, 9 PM 10/21/10

The Game Thread Dude
The regular season is almost here folks and I can hardly wait. (Okay, I can wait, but mostly just so that we get all of our guys healthy).

The game versus the Clippers was 3.99 quarters of eye-gouging mediocrity/ listlessness followed by 5 seconds of Tyreke showing why he's so special.

While it is a little alarming that we barely managed to beat a team resting its future star PF that sat most of its starters in the second half, it is still preseason and I refuse to be overtly negative until the actual season begins.

With that being said, as it is getting closer to the actual season itself, it s also time for this game analyzer/ rampant homer to dish out the post game awards (full titles of the awards given to get everyone up to speed).

Award Time - (preseason style)
Tony Delk Memorial Award- When did Aminu turn in Reggie Miller?
Luke Walton- Vacuum Cleaner-If someone could tell me how Brian Cook keeps turning up on NBA teams, it would be greatly appreciated.
Jason Hart- Andres Nocioni Award-Luther Head. Not only does he "play" PG, he also likes to toss up awkward shots from behind the line. It's almost as if he was playing as the perfect fusion of both Nocioni and Hart.
SAR-Mikki-Carl Landry. With a stat line of 5 points, 5 boards, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block, 5 turnovers, and 6 fouls in 25 minutes, Carl exemplified the outstanding frontcourt play that made our teams of the mid- to late- '00s so legendary.
WTF Moment of the Game. Tied between both Tyreke's quadruple team-splitting game winner and Aminu's 500-footer to tie the game moments before that.

If anyone has any outstanding, ingenious ideas for postgame awards, do not be afraid to make your voice known.

Matchups
Kings vs. the Med Staff: Please no more injuries. What is this? 2003?
JT vs. the Refs: No complaining please.
Reke's Plantar vs. Pedja's: Everyone needs good feet.
Boogie vs the other team's announcers: When will the "character issues" card come into play during the play-by-play?

My Prediction:
We finish this preseason with a losing 3-4 record.

GO KINGS

Regular game threads return next Wednesday.

I would like to see more of Darnell Jackson and Pooh Jeter/Luther Head, those guys have showed that they can contribute and can hopefully fit into the rotation..

Luther Head.. is just not very good. Personally, I would have cut him. For a guy with a reputation as a shooter... he is not a very good one. I also think Carl Landry should be coming off the bench.. him and Omri would be a great makeup for a very very good bench. Carl Landry doesn't do enough to be a starter. He is a poor rebounder and can't do much more than score (which he does well). JT rebounds well at least and is a better defender (although he is foul prone). Cousins needs JT as the other big.. if Landry starts with Cousins, then Cousins has to try and cover up Landry's weaknesses (weak interior defense, small size) and I just do not think Cousins can do that at this point in time.

In a couple years Cousins will be savvy eough to actually be able to do that...his bb iq is off the charts, dare I say his growth so far reminds me of a rookie who came into the league playing for the hated team down south with another large point guard who is a HOFer. We just gotta wait and watch him learn. Will be fun tho....

I'm looking forward to the D. Will/Reke match up, of course. Reke should be posting up Williams plenty of times so he can attract the double team and kick it out to our shooters. I also expect Cousins to have a fairly good night against a weak interior Utah team. They will have either Al. Jefferson or Okur guarding him, I believe. Carl Landry vs Millsap should be another interesting match up to look out for, both are similar players, Millsap rebounds at a better rate. I am just glad that next week we can finally start talking about the games that count and discuss what player is going to have a career night on us. :p

Andrew Bynum? :p

The guy you're talking about was not drafted by that hated team down south and did not play with them as a rookie. He was also on that team long before that large point guard was drafted. Unless we are talking about different guys, in which case I have no idea who you're talking about...

Coach says he's starting D. Jackson at the 4 with Cousins so that he can see Landry, JT and Whiteside together on the floor--something he's said he's been wanting to see what would look like. Also says he wants to play Whiteside as much as possible tonight

This is gonna be a fun game! Jazz are my second favorite team and I want to get a gander at Big Al as a member of the Jazz, especially going against our bigs. And maybe a Whiteside sighting?

I could never stand Earl Watson's face. I still can't. He looks like he has constipation all the time

Man Im loving Beno if Mr Reke and him can get it together wth their two man slashing shooting game we might have a SICK duo this yr

Our backcourt is solid. I have no doubt they will be Ok all season long baring injury. Greene has disappeared again - so far. Cousins will need plenty of help - maybe when Dalembert returns the front court can flourish. Landry seems back to his normal productive self.
