This is almost coming to the point of the "bench scoring" issues, people are looking at numbers and working their way back to a problem that really isn't there. Is a bench of scorers good to have? Depends on the team you have. Apparently a good chunk of the bottom 5 in bench scoring are doing OK considering teams like the Celtics and Knicks are right there with Sacramento. The Kings are 6th in apg since Christie took over and that was with another non true PG in Fox who was just running pick and roll and looking to spray. The Kings run pick and roll and DHO, they're doing just fine. If they dip it shouldn't be by much.
As for the PG duties on the team. The Kings are still mostly looking to "spray". If you can get around the defender and break into the interior that's essentially what they are asking for the "PG" to do. Right now Carter is having a hard time figuring out how to generate contact, get calls, and finish with a big man usually right there in the paint with him. Getting around his man? That's already there. The first step is something you can't teach, the rest? It should come with court time and probably in the summer when the strategically gameplan for his role in the offense which right now he doesn't really have one unless he's handling the rock. He is however consistently getting into the basket area and creating swing action from there. Keegan is starting to do more of that as well. The Kings picked up LaVine, a player not to the exact level of Fox in pnr, but he isn't too far behind. He really isn't.
If Christie can't trust Lyles and Len though, that's a different story. The Kings need a big man for sure.

For the survival of Domas the big they get might have to somewhat be able to replace Domas offensively and physically. Certainly Christie isn't blowing him up minutes wise for his defense. If they did get someone like Williams III or Boucher I'm not sure Domas still isn't nailed with minutes if the offense stumbles. On paper they fill more needs, but it seems like Christie is picking offense over defense most times.
Jval solves 2 major problems with this team. He's a guy who can be a feature offensive weapon with that 2nd unit.

My "underrated C that's massively productive" senses are tingling here. He's obviously not a breakout candidate like the other guys since he's older, but I think Jval immediately comes in and make a huge impact. He's just not talked about enough because he's just been wasting away on bad teams the last few years.

And the post play might be the biggest thing. When Jones has played they've set him up in the post quite a bit. Christie might be wanting to make sure the floor is balanced with a big down low. Jonas is that and a bag of chips for sure.

Piece out that pick haul and suffer. There could be a big difference in value between being able to offer 4 picks or 5 down the line.

I think the only first round pick I’d be okay offering this year is the Hornets pick and that’s pretty much just two seconds but packaged in a way that’s more amenable to a team owner who’s barely paying attention.

Yeah, and the players Monte should be looking at this deadline should be 2nd rounder types anyway, not 1st round. The Fox issue is over with and the math only gets more wait and see now that he is. See what your team at the very least looks like this season before looking for high value/dollar answers. He still needs to keep the rebuilding option open also because the Kings aren't out of the woods by any means. The potential is surely there though.

thats actually what I’m hoping for. Brown or Ball as a buyout. I don’t think there are many teams with the matching salary for those two and there Aren’t many teams below the aprons

Yeah, it's interesting people are seemingly ready to give up on Devin Carter, for really no reason and are just throwing out his predraft process like it's nothing.

I am not giving up on Carter. I think he has a bright future, but to make a deep playoff run, you could definitely have a better shot with Johnson
Yeah, and I know he’s injured but part of me wishes we had gone with the local son Jared McCain, especially now that Fox is gone and we’re discussing backup point guard help.
He looked good prior to the injury, and im not going to worry 8/years from now that he wants to return home to be close to family.

You would be in that scenario, lol. You don't sacrifice future to make a playoff run. If you draft right and build right you build and make the playoffs at the same time. Follow the Spurs, not the Kings own past. As your main talent gets older, you transition to the youth YOU DEVELOP. This time the Kings got one of those upside guys, middling moves be damned right now. This idea of sending DeMar or whatever to the bench isn't happening. Bringing Cam off the bench is stupid.

Weird thing is that Phoenix doesn't seem to have any firsts to trade.
It would actually be possible for us to take in Jonas on the MLE, and then for Phoenix to salary dump Nurkic to the Wiz if the Wiz send out a min contract (i.e. Gill) either way. The tough part is for Phoenix to come up with the draft capital to make that worthwhile.
Can't they trade the picks they got from UTA?
