Yeah, he was one of my favorite draft prospects ever. I thought he was basically going to be a combo of Ron Artest and Jaylen Brown (he predates Jaylen Brown as a draft prospect but I like
@serbiangoat 's comparison and it accurately describes what I felt about him at the time). Stan Van Gundy really only gave him the one season tryout as a starter and his shooting splits were so abysmal he nearly played himself out of the NBA entirely.
It's bizarre how a player can look like an unstoppable scoring force in Summer League and then never touch 40% from the field in their first 4 years in the NBA, but it's happened before. In baseball they call those guys AAAA -- too good for the minors but not good enough for the major league. His shooting splits in limited minutes for the Spurs this season were really good though and he's always been an asset defensively. I'd still love to see him in a Kings uniform, even if it's just for part of a season.
