Is there anyone else out there we might invite to camp or summer league?

Here's a list of prospective players we either interviewed or worked out:
(as far as I kept track).

Luke Nevill 7-1 265 C Utah Sr
Josh Heytvelt 6-11 238 C Gonzaga Sr.
John Bryant 6-11 305 C Santa Clara

Jeff Adrien 6-7 244 PF Connecticut Sr.
Leo Lyons 6-9 235 SF/PF Missouri Sr.

Marcus Landry 6-7 230 F Wisconsin
Jerome Tillman, F, 6-6, 235, Ohio
Joe Ingles 6-8 SF Australia

Dionte Christmas 6-5 190 SG Temple Sr.
Jerel McNeal 6-3 200 SG Marquette Sr.
Daniel Hackett 6-5 SF SG/PG
Josh Shipp SG 6-5 UCLA

Jeremy Pargo 6-2 208 PG Gonzaga Sr.
Tyrese Rice 6-0 190 PG BC Sr.
Levance Fields 5-10 PG Pitt
Ben Woodside 5-11 PG ND State

Anyone else?
Alade Aminu maybe?

That's a pretty good list.

Kings are short on SGs and a backup C. I'd expect Nevill, Heytvelt, and Bryant all will get an invite to the Kings summer league roster. Aminu too.

The SGs from the list too.

I'm curious to see if Woodside hooks on to a team. He was fun to watch. But the Kings now have three PGs, so not much chance for him in Sac.

A lot of these guys suffer from bball politics on draft night. Most teams in the second round pick guys who won't be on their rosters that year, and let them develop overseas. I bet at least two of those players hook on with a NBA team eventually. I really liked Aminu when I saw him play this year. Thought he was better than Lawal. Not down the road, but for now.

Josh Heytvelt- I like this kid, a center that can spread the floor with his jumper and possibly run the princeton offence If he lears how to pass. I think I saw a comparison to him as a Scot Pollard with jump shot out to three point range.

Scot Pollard compared to a big ole softie?

Heytvelt isn't soft, he's pretty tough. I'm surprised Brockman was the pick over him. His offensive game is "soft" in the Brad Miller mode, but he's not afraid to mix it up.

Heytvelt from Gonzaga could be a good choice. I'd also LOVE to see Christmas invited. I think he could be a very good role player for someone. Woodside is short, but he has potential. And yes, Aminu for sure.

Tough?/Not Tough?

I don't know if he is NBA tough, but I would have picked him over Brockman. I think teams were worried about his being caught with drugs thing.

He's also had foot problems. But still, at this point I hope they bring him in.

Heytvelt is certainly worth a look. He's big and can score a little. I don't think he has great hands, but their not terrible. My biggest problem with him is that he seemed passive at times, and would disappear. Christmas, McNeal, and Aminu would also be my choices. I'm really surprised that neither Christmas or McNeal wern't drafted. They certainly have NBA talent..

hmm reading and checking back on Bryant. he played heytvelt 3 times this year and dominated him each time. I am talking out scoring him by over 15 and out rebounding him by 6 or more and getting 2 or 3 blocks in each game.

One guy on that list I like alot is Jeff Adrien from UCONN. I was at the WVU v. UCONN game in Morgantown this past year and Adrien clearly stood out. The guy was everywhere; hustle, toughness, energy.

As an aside, keep an eye out for Devin Ebanks for next year. I'm sure he will leave after his soph year at WVU. Kid is a freak of an athlete, great help defender, very long. He improved by leaps and bounds from the beginning to end of last year. 6 9' SF, he could be a Kevin Durant type guy.

I like Bryant and Shipp and am surprised they didn't get scooped up late in the 2nd. I like Ben Woodside, but I don't know that his game is suited to the pros and he'd never make this Kings roster, especially if they do as I hope and bring back BJax.

A player not mentioned that I like is Paul Harris. Somewhat like Dahtay Jones but stronger and more intense while not quite as athletic.

I would LOVE any of these guys

Honestly can anybody tell me whats up with John Bryant. I mean 18pts 14reb and 2.5blks per game and he gets no mention. whats his hangup. He vs. Heytvelt was lopsided to say the least and Heytvelt was projected mid 2nd round. I saw Bryants video he is a manchild. Just wanting the 411. lol@ myself for saying 411.

I don't know about lopsided, one of those games Heytvelt had 29/9 and the other two he didn't play all that much. But I wouldn't mind getting Bryant in on the summer league team.

I really like Tyrese Rice, I saw him alot and he is really quick, would be the fastest player on the kings for sure.. he has a good handle, and can shoot the three, Im surprised a team didnt take him, I really think he can be the next BJackson.

whats his deal? I read where is rated one of the top 3 centers in the draft and he doesn't get picked? Does he have a major hangup? I mean its been said over and over that rebounding transition is good and he averaged 14 to go with over 2 blks and led all C in ppg with 18. Something is off somewhere. I just wonder what. I mean he has to be better than brockman

big and slow and numbers were at the small school level. Poor man's Big Country Reeves. Its the lack of athleticism that is hurting him -- you know with teams desperate for size and almost no centers available in the draft that somebody would have given him a call if he could move.

Here's a youtube vid of him:

Fugly, but does have some pretty sophisticated post moves though.

Yeah I watched that video. I noticed it transitioned immediatley after the shot careful not to show him running down court. I had a feeling i would be his speed. But as I recall Ostertag wasn't a barn burner himself. dude is a big body that can rebound and block shots. and yes had some offensive post presence. could be useful in spots but it would be better if we could get that WITH speed. I wonder if he dropped some weight if his speed would increase?

plenty of guys projected in the draft next year are over 6'10. 18 of them not to mention the 6'8 and 6'9 PF/C they have listed probably another 12 of them. I bet we take a big guy next draft. lol
