Now I could get behind a trade down deal and still get WCS and a starting player but you gamble on not getting him.Reports that WCS sliding down the draft like mad.... Draft express has him at #13 now.
I still don't have a good read on Porzingas but he was intriguing in his workout but he's also not strong enough right now. Porzingas is down my list. If we are comparing bigs that might be available, I've got WCS ahead of those...a healthy WCS as I think he has impact from the start and is an athletic, defensive minded freak. I feel as though we could get a guy similar to Kaminsky in a deal or FA whereas a WCS would be much harder to come by.
That might be a reasonable comp as far as talent level. Is Kaminsky any better than Spencer Hawes?
I can see this coming... I can feel it in my bones. Now I could get behind a trade down deal and still get WCS and a starting player but you gamble on not getting him.
I tend to think of WCS as a Draymond Green type who came into the league and was able to guard multi-positions, somewhat limited on offense at the NBA level but developed a 3 point shot but the reality is that Green is a force in the defensive side of the ball as he's able to guard most spots.Well the footage that I watched of Kaminsky was pretty intriguing. I like his ability to attack the defender and handle the ball. And I think most teams won't get away with a player that provides nothing on offense. If WCS can be valuable on offense, remains to be seen. I tend to like players with an already developed skillset. I'm glad, that I don't have to make any decision, which player the Kings should pick.![]()

Correct....Kaminsky was a nobody his 1st 2 years and while he DID improve in college and can be a rotation player in the NBA, **** that, lets not take ANOTHER defensively challenged, athletically challenged player. And before someone says he's athletic enough......this is the NBA. He has good skills that will get swallowed up in the NBA. Pass on him unless we trade down and take him mid-1st round.

That's kind of how I feel right now. Yes, it sounds like Vlade is active, but it also sounds like he's not willing to shuffle deck chairs. In a sense, no move may be a good move, and he'll look to free agency. This might be a tough year with people trying to take advantage of the fact that they see both him and Vivek as n00bs, but if he doesn't bite on a crap move, it'll strengthen his position next year.I would just take WCS at 6 if we can't find anyone to trade down with.
Please point to where I said the mock draft will be exactly correct. I'll wait...
The point I am trying to make is that a draft site that is one of the more respected sites put a player I would like to see in a Kings uniform at #5. Does this mean he will go at #5? No, it doesn't. If I never saw Cauley-Stein at #5 in a mock draft, would I still be worried when the Magic are on the clock? You betcha, but I would probably be a little more nervous if I saw him ranked at #5 in a few mocks let alone on a site that is known to be one of the better ones.
People act as if I didn't think Cauley-Stein had a chance of going #5 before I saw this mock draft. That's completely untrue, but as they say: where there's smoke, there's fire. The more rumblings we hear of Cauley-Stein going at #5, the more worried I will be (smokescreen or not). My worrying doesn't affect the outcome of what actually will happen. It's just a natural emotion to a player I would like to see the Kings take. And as most will tell you, there's little room for emotion in business.
So please, can we stop overreacting when I say I'm worried about Cauley-Stein being taken before our pick? Why can't I be nervous and worry if he will be there for us to take? Was anyone else nervous when the Bulls were picking before us in 2007? I sure as hell was because I didn't want them to take Noah. This is the same type of reaction.
Trade back and pick up Bledsoe and Cauley-Stein. I wouldn't be too upset with that at all. We'd certainly be better defensively.
It would have to be a Collison/Stauskas/Landry/#6 for Bledsoe/#13 type deal.
I think WCS fits with Cousins but if you heard the Lowe Post podcast with Ford he says many FO's feel he will have to get his ankle fixed sometime in the next year, but its not a long term nagging injury concern. Also says he gives you nothing offensively, but I have as much faith in Ford evaluating talent as I do 99% of twitter reporters out there. It does seem you should trade down though and try and pick up another veteran piece along with WCS, while maybe dumping one of the young SG's or Landry's contract.
I have been a fan of Mario, but if Cousins and Gay are staying there is just no room for another volume scorer, and he is most definitely a JR Smith, Marcus Thornton microwave volume guy, even if his ceiling is higher.
I personally think its down to Justise and WCS if Cousins is part of the future. Mudiay, Porzingis, Hezonja if they plan to blow it up.
Well, he seems to be sliding and with the injury and blood issues to consider, maybe a little less stressing about this stuff three weeks ago wasn't a bad idea after all, was it? And do you still think he is the best choice at where we are selecting?

The important thing with getting Cauley-Stein is that he could be an immediate contributor, if he needs surgery that is not going to happen. Also he is falling down draft boards right now, some to the late teens. We cannot draft him at #6, no longer an option. Perhaps this will facilitate some trades though.
I do. That's why he's still my pick at 6.Does anyone else think WCS issues are smokescreen? Just a few weeks ago he was a lock to go between 4 and 6, now some have him going late to mid teens.
These guys have been scouted all year, I find it hard to see that something new came up over the last week and a half. In WCS's case he has been scouted even longer being a Junior.I do. That's why he's still my pick at 6.

No. He didn't enter the draft last year because he had the stress fracture in his foot. He played well this year, but didn't really improve on his sophomore season. I think the upside for him is questionable, stress fracture injuries are always a red flag for 7 footers, and most of the reason he was ranked as highly as #4 in the first place is media hype owing to his playing three years at Kentucky. Most of the players in the top 10 are one-and-one teenagers. To pick a 22 year old with injury history in the top 10 you really have to believe in his upside. I could be wrong, but I always thought 10-14 is where his actual value is.
