Officially announced NBA Draft pick order

i wonder if the blazers would trade aldridge/ rodriguez for conley/douby...

that'd be cool....

14. Los Angeles Clippers
13. New Orleans Hornets
12. Philadelphia 76ers
11. Indiana Pacers
10. Sacramento Kings
9. Chicago Bulls
8. Charlotte Bobcats
7. Minnesota Timberwolves
6. Milwaukee Bucks
5. Boston Celtics
4. Memphis Grizzlies
3. Atlanta Hawks
2. Seattle Supersonics
1. Portland Trailblazers

So...given that this is the personnel section, some interesting positioning there:

You have a center going #1, a SF going #2, and then a whole pack of PFs coming up next.

BUT:

1) the Hawks already have Marcus Wiliams as their young stud PF. Wright, Horford, Jianlian etc. would be projected at their #3. What they need is a PG or a C, or both. Any chance they trade that pick to move down and go after Hibbert or Conley?

2) The Memphis Grizzlies were dreaming of a Gasol/Oden frontcourt, or worst case a Gasol/Durant forward combo. Now they are right in the middle of PF alley with their best/only player being a PF. I don't think they want to have to run him at C forever. Any chance they make a move here?

3) Boston, of course devastating for them, and again, the one good thing they have going for them is the emerging Al Jefferson at PF to go with Pierce at SF. And yet they don't get Oden to play C, and are int he middle of PF land. Do they go with Brewer? Or could they too be ready to make a move now?

Not neccessarily. Atlanta might trade down to get Conley.

Or up, they do have two first round picks and some young players, depending upon how badly they want him.

A team like MN might trade #7 to Atlanta for 12 + their other first to improve their depth if they don't think a star is available at 7.

I was thinking along the same lines. One of those team, likely Atlanta would be willing to rade down to get what they need but the problem here is that they have pick 11 from Indy which kind of puts us out of negotiations. Who will be there at 10 that will be worth trading down from 3 to get.

I think West said they need a rebounder and he will be hoping that Horford is there at 4 but they will shop Gasol now IMHO.

Boston is really interesting one. Ainge is high on Jianlian. So does he draft him and pair him up with Jefferson, does he draft Brewer or does he trade down to get a C to pair with Jefferson, or does he trade the pick all together.

If Boston wants a C they could trade down to get a Hawes or Hibbert.

We certainly could explore the possibilities of trade with these teams. Interesting times ahead.

Been a long long drought over there. 1/4 of their fanbase may not even have been born/was too young to remember their last one.

True, but how much of our fanbase remembers the 1950-1951 Rochester Royals championship team. So it's hard for us to feel tooooo bad for them.

Wow, this is the best draft lottery I have have seen in a while alot drama, lol. Alt, bos and maybe Mem could trade their pick, seattle will let lewis walk, Zbo will be traded; bos, mem, and mil all got srewed badly and just more bad news for the kings, lol. This is just like prime time t.v.

Not necesarrily. They could send us some sort of sweetner to ensure Conley is still there at 11...
That would imply that we are trading down a pick to 11 for that sweetner! Not interested. We should be talking with these teams if moving to pick 3, 4 or 5 and we sweeten it for them. Not really sure what we could offer though :(

You could approach Atlanta with an offer of Mike Bibby and the #10 in order to get that #3. Making the matching package attractive enough to us would be the key. But if Atlanta then used #10 to land Hibbert, they would have patched both their holes. They could also use #10 and #11 to land both Hbbert and Conley, or Hawes, or some such.

Similar idea mgiht be remotely possible in Memphis, who also needs a PG/C.

All I can say is, if Portland isn't in the playoffs next year there is something seriously wrong. And Seattle should at least be right there at the end fighting for the 8th spot. Next year, the Kings players should all wear helmets because they are going to war every darned game. The West is just going to be medievally put-em-on-the-rack BRUTAL. Unless Petrie puts on a Merlin the Magician cape on we're going to be at least as bad record-wise as last year. One good thing is that the above ranking implies a lot of draft day deals in order to for teams to fill their needs at the appropriate draft slot. Maybe Petrie, FOR ONCE IN HIS CAREER, decides to trade up???! But does he have the ammo?

I don't think Atlanta does that unless we take a bad contract from them but to get a top 3, you would have to strongly stongly consider it IMHO.

Boy ESPN must be throwing a hissy fit. The two best players are going to small-market northwestern teams.

A sad day for the worldwide leader in sports.

Another option would be trading out of the draft for a good young player, like #10 to Toronto for Calderon. Then they could draft Hibbert or Hawes to give them some inside scoring.

we just had to lose to the damn clips....didnt we?

we would have had Portland's damn pick if we would have lost against the clips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it a coincidence that 2 of the 3 teams experiencing arena / relocation issues landed the top 2 picks?

Seattle is probably in the most dire situation (in terms of possible relocation) and Portland isn't far behind Sacramento.

Seattle won't have the Sonics after next season for two reasons. The new ownership group is from Oklahoma City indicating they are likely to relocate the team there (or possibly Las Vegas) starting with 08-09 season and because they cannot get a new arena in the Emerald City have pretty much said see ya - sound familiar.
