OFFICIAL Fire Adelman and get _______ thread (MERGED)

Old news. The link to the article in the Star Tribune was posted earlier.

At this point, if they bring in Saunders to replace Rick Adelman I'll have no problem whatsoever in reversing my attitude about blaming the coach for everything.

I have to wonder - has Rick Adelman decided he doesn't need the grief of a final year, especially when it's going to be a year of rebuilding?

...VF21's First off-the-wall theory of TDOS: They SAY they're talking to Flip, but they're actually laying the groundwork behind the scenes (shhhh! illegal....) for the vaunted Kevin Garnett acquisition to come in July.

:D

I cannot believe my special 1000k post is getting wasted in this thread. I am reading replies and am pretty confused on peoples thoughts.

If the Kings decide to replace RA. Then IMO Flip is one of the best options out there. While I wouldn't agree with it at first I will give him a chance. He is a good coach. Has a similar good regular season record. He has a poor post season record.

Hmmm GM Mchale VS Petrie. Tell me who you want running your team? I think a lot of that was the chemistry on the team. They sure didn't fair any better this year without him. --- Speaking about Flip and Minny

My take, if RA is fired/retires/quits whatever and they hire Flipper, I feel he would be one of the better choices out there. Now if its even a stronger play to get Garnett PHEW what a move that would be.

We could always hand over the reigns to Jerry Reynolds again, sound fun? Or maybe Dick Motta. Oh, I know, Bill Russell.

I think RA is our best option unless another great coach becomes available, however, Lenny Wilkens might be an interesting replacement.

How about Coach T, Tom Abatemarco?

Im sure he would do a fabulous job.:p ;)

The job he did???

This team is talented. It's not like it's a rag tag bunch of guys who were all free agents and he willed this team to 50 wins.

If people are happy with 50 wins in the regular season then I guess Adelman is your man. How this team played in the Seattle series was horrendous and Adelman was seriously outcoached by MacMillan.....Seattle did the right thing in not extending his contract and making him work for it. However, for some reason the Kings decided to give Adelman a gift and we will now waste another year with this coach.
You just don't get it yet do you? This team is just not that talented right now. Rick tried every lineup imaginable in that series against Seattle. He tightened it up the last 2 games out of desperation but the first game he went 11 guys deep...we lost. The 2nd game he went 12 guys deep and benched the starters...we lost! Seattle was a much better team and it showed... 4-1, and the Sonics calling us chumps the whole way. We had no leader and we got run...easy, and while Adelman wasn't perfect it wasn't his fault his team wasn't as good. Kenny thomas? Brian Skinner? Cuttino Mobley? I thought when I was watching the Kings I was having a bad dream.. Then I was like no... this is actually your teams lineup right now... unbelievable.

Mike Bibby ?

never mind - You are absolutely right
I just don't know anymore... without C-Webb, Mike just didn't look like the same player, once the playoff pressure started. It's tougher when the other team can just key in on you and no one else can make them pay. Peja and Mike gave a valiant fight in that last game but for most of the series they just couldn't lead us to wins.

Absolutely. I allready said the Mike needs to send a 1/3 of his pay check to Philly. They had a 2 man game that made Bibby. Mike is too talented (oftensively) to be unable to adjust.

Both of them missed healthy Miller

Next season Mike will be an all star, Pedja will play for a new contract. If we can somewhat fill in the voids we have, it can be a great season.

Funny thing is that I blamed RA for losing in 02, 03, and 04 for various reasons( I still do). This time - he is not one to be blamed. However, I also think that 7 years with a same coach is a lot and think that a change would not hurt. Sometimes You have to make a change even if the things are going OK. Just to "shake up."

I have to agree with you^. I just think people that went into the playoffs thinking this team had any chance of winning anything were dead wrong, and it's pretty silly to still not admit it...even worse to blame Adelman for it. Whether the trades make the team stronger in the longterm remains to be seen but they definately left the team weaker this year. It's never been my contention that trading Webb or Doug was a bad thing in itself, I just think we got weak players with bad contracts in return and that it was pretty obvious at the time we had given up on this year.

I still believe that we got all we could. Considering the way that CW and DC ended up struggling - look like GP took a last train here. Now, he has to do some magic and make sure that we don't waste another season.

I hope so too, but until GP does make those good offseason moves, I'll reserve judment.

Well, I mean, it will mean some sacrifices for myself, but I am willing to make them in order to take the Kings' job. I can't guarantee more than a couple of years, but I figure two, three championships and we can just let the guys take care of themselves out there.

Here is my coach list...

1. Rick Adelman
2. Rick Adelman
3. Rick Adelman
4. Vlade Divac
5. Rick Carlisle
6. Stan Van Gundy

I do believe that we got as much as we could. At first I thought we got ripped off but knowing what I know now and how bad CWebb's knee is really is I think differently. Do you know that he never practiced with the team all year because of how bad his knee is, it could never hold up. I was amazed that it was not reported earlier and only after the trade we found out.
