NBA Summer League 2014 in Las Vegas

Nothing stood out really. I wonder if him looking like more of a post player now, is really going to benefit him? I always thought his advantages were on the wing and getting up and down with his length

I agree. He just felt like a random summer league guy when he used to dominate the summer league with his combination of size and mobility.

It appeared with the weight that he's put on, that he's not as mobile and athletic as he was just two seasons ago. He doesn't look overweight by any means, just not as athletic?

Watching the replay of Elfrid Payton's game. Not sure why everyone was impressed with his performance. Houston's D and overall team was swiss cheese. He might be good, but im seeing very little competition across from him in this one game. Looking forward to see him against better guards. Same goes for Nik.

For those who have attended the summer league before, a few questions:

1) Tickets are easily available on site the day of the games, correct?
2) Does the venue provide any type of program with rosters or do I need to stay on top of that myself?

Yes and Yes. I've never had a problem walking up and buying a ticket, and if you know which days your going to go, you can go ahead and get them all at the same time.
They have very nice programs you can buy inside with all the teams listed and their early schedule. They also have typical concessions. Hotdogs, hamburgers, Beer etc. You never have to worry about getting a seat in the Thomas and Mack center. The place is huge. The arena can get a little crowded, but its definitely the best place to watch the games. Your right on top of the floor.

We will of course need a Summer League pic of Sim Bhullar palming your head.

Video from today, that no look drop off pass was NICE!

http://www.nba.com/kings/summer-training-stauskas

indeed it was. that's what i'm hoping to see from stauskas in the regular season; of course i want him to knock down the long ball, but if he can become a part-time playmaker, delivering the occasional smart and timely assist, it will do wonders for a team that needs more than just one willing passer. as i've said before, it's not about eliminating isolation basketball from the playbook as much as it is about properly executing offensive sets and creating opportunities for easier baskets...

Peyton was quite good last night, nearly had a triple double and made all his FG attempts. Had one very athletic move leading to a dunk, and a lovely crossover and dish on another play. Hope we don't regret our pick. Looking forward to seeing Nik on Friday.

I hate to be lazy or at least make it so obvious but does anyone have a schedule of the Kings' summer schedule? We have quite a bit of skill on this summer team.

Has Payton hit a jumpshot in these 3 games? I missed half of the first quarter today, but I haven't seen it. I believe all his points yesterday were dunks and easy layups.

he's shown penetration when 1 on 1 and has above average D and passing skills so far. He's turned it over way too much, though which is a huge negative if he can't reliably knock down jump shots.

If this skillset is what he brings in the regular season, he's going to struggle. Pretty numbers so far in preseason, but deceptive.

Payton has a lot of skills matched up against the opposition in a league I have never heard of. His major problem is his jump shot and it is truly ugly. People might say draft him because he can work on his jump and it will improve OR we don't need outside shooting from a PG but there are no guarantees and his shot has a long ways to go. Certainly we need a PG with the ability to stretch the defense and so far he isn't one of those. It's a moot point and I am very happy with Stauskas. Stauskas is not merely a jump shooter. Payton may be better on defense, taking it to the rim, etc. but Stauskas is far from helpless.

I'm happy with Stauskas but have to admit Payton looks very promising.. Has size, quickness, athtletic ability, and length. Thats just from one game, but the tools are there. Gordon on the other hand had me scratching my head, dude is trying to be a SF out there, playing on the perimeter, trying to dribble but has a broken jumper, reminds me of T-Rob in Summer League.

Does anybody know how the scrimmage against Toronto's summer league team went tonight? I'd love to hear how Ben & Nik did

Nik broke Wilt's scoring record and would have had more but Sim Bhullar got hungry and ate him.

Actually, i was wondering the same.
