NBA Summer League 2014 in Las Vegas

In a move that instantly makes the collective talent of the summer league team leaps and bounds better, Quincy "the Beard" Acy has decided to play in Summer League. Considering that last year the big man talent of the squad could be described as "laughable" or "nonexistent" at best, simply having a big man who is capable of chewing gum and walking at the same time should make Ben and Ray look at least a little bit better.

Between the McSophs, Acy, our potential pick, and D-Will, we stand a good chance of "competing" in the VSL pennant race.

D-Will is going to be there too? That's a lot of experience for a Summer League team. The title is ours to lose! (Trust me, we can step up and lose it, we've got a knack!)

Coach Malone on khtk radio interview reveals Quincy Acy to play in Vegas Summer League. Acy is one of my favorite Kings on Roster I think it's lost on some that he was only drafted in 2012 and still has a lot of room to develop into a contributing role player that can play mins at the 4 and 3.

Our team if they get out in transition with the Mac's, Acy and Williams should put on quiet a show, I want to see if Acy has kept working on that jumper if he can get a consistant confident shot it would really help improve his game by 20-30%.

WOW! Kings summer league team is awesome (for summer league):

Ben, Ray, Nik and Jared Cunningham at the guards
Acy and DWill at forwards
Sim Bhullar, he of 7-5 and 350 lb from New Mexico State and Punjab, India
Eric Moreland, 6-9 with 7-3 wingspan, PF/C after 4-years at Oregon St

plus couple more FA's

Summer league teams are usually coached by an assistant coach plus this year one of the summer league assistants will be the Coach of the Reno D-League team to insure consistency between the two teams.

and hopefully Willie Reed in the middle

Looks like Sim Bhullar is going to sign with us, so I suspect he'll be there. We'll know it if he is - you can't miss him. (Don't really know if he can keep up, though.)

But, yeah, the Kings summer league team ought to be a top squad.

I'll keep positive thoughts for you, VF. Cataract surgery is definitely in my future, too. Just not there yet according to my ophthalmologist.

Would love to see you at summer league.

It's a piece of cake. I had the two eyes done. I woke up from surgery and asked the doctor when he was going to start...

Hmmm! They put you to sleep? I thought you were awake when they did it. Shows what I know. I hope you didn't pay until you checked out whether you could see better or not. Otherwise, maybe they didn't do anything!

They told me they will not be putting me to sleep, as I need to be awake for the eye to be in the proper position (or something like that. I hate having anything touch my eyeball so I blocked out some of the stuff they told me).

Hey, that shouldn't stop you. Just come and we'll give you the play by play.

Not supposed to fly for a while because of cabin pressure...or something like that. I really guess I should have paid more attention to the detail stuff. ;)

Random thought....I'd like to see them move the D-League team into northern California, as close as possible to Sacramento. Not sure, but maybe Stockton? I think it could spark some new interest in the team

How many will be attending Summer League and which dates will you be there?

I know at least five of us are flying in on Thursday night with three more driving.

There will be more of us coming in throughout.

LOL. I think what happened was that I wasn't asleep, but the affect of the drug made it so I didn't remember a thing when I "woke up" from whatever trance I was under. I didn't know that I had "awakened."

Just like every year, my wife and I will be there for all five games. Getting into Vegas on Thursday and will be out there all week.
And as usual, we will be sitting in my favorite spots, so come say 'Hi'.
Cox Pavilion: (Left side of arena, center court, around 15-20 rows up.)
Thomas/Mac: (Right side of arena, center court, first couple rows up past the lowest bowl. (~15 rows up or so)

the drugs they have these days for "waking anesthesia" are.... awesome. If it is anything like my colonoscopy (I think it is a similar anesthesia concept) you're gonna be very very calm and remember nothing :)

Have they announced who is coaching the Kings this summer? And has the whole roster been named?

Summer league coach will be one from Micah Nori, Chris Jent or Corliss Williamson Plus one assistant will be the new coach of the Reno Bighorns. A great idea for consistency with player development making it easier to bring up players from the D-League team.
