It's never a bad thing to try different stuff out in summer league, especially if you're emulating the two teams that made it to the end. 5 out basketball is what it's about now. You have versatile defensive guards that can draw and kick and bigs that can spot from the corners and wings.
He's already shown he can rim run. But if he can't shoot, he's never getting on the floor. Its the difference for him being out of the league in 2 years vs being a 10 year pro. He's got to show he can play that "big wing" to stick. Otherwise he's just a small ball 5 that can't shoot.. which unless your draymond defensively, you aren't getting PT
Clifford is a Swiss army knife type player. He does everything well. I watched him in the Mountain West against Nevada.
Cardwell can play defense and so can Clifford.
The Kings are not so easy to recognize these days.
