Matt Barnes (12-26)

...must have highlighted all games to be played against his former teams prior to the season. He has hit 6 threes against the 76ers (in 7 tries), and there are only a few minutes gone in the 3rd quarter.

Warriors beating the 76ers by 26 or so in the 3rd.

I'm happy to see him succeed. I thought he would have been a better fit than he was in Philly, but for some reason Kyle Korver was deemed more important.

Matt's taken a general lack of interest across the league in his services this season and used it as motivation to work hard, improve his game, and find a spot on a roster with a lot of injury problems -- Golden State. That's cause for a lot of "way to go Matt" comments not "Petrie sucks". Did you know Matt Barnes was a deadeye three point shooter? From his time with the Kings I had no idea. Still, there is a developing pattern of young players leaving the Kings and excelling elsewhere. If anything Petrie could show a little more patience with young players, keeping them around a bit and seeing if they develop. Like he's done with Ronnie Price.

MB wasn't a very good shooter when he was here. He has worked very, very hard since he left Sac. Worked with Webb's shooting coach, too. GP didn't necessarily want to trade Barnes, Matt was just an innocent bystander in the Webber trade. Now that trade you could argue.

And who are all these young players going elsewhere and excelling that we should have known to keep?

Hedo? Well he was not doing well at all in Sac toward the end and the Spurs, who were very high on Hedo, eventually traded him, too.

Wallace? Maybe we should have protected him, but the Kings were a contending team. Wallace got a better chance to play and improve going to the Bobcats, than playing behind Peja, at the time.

Just the fact that all of them are still playing and contributing in the league says a lot about GP's eye for talent, IMHO.

Yup you about said it, I totally agree.

Out of the 3 you mentioned the only one I would want back is Wallace and even then, I am not sure.

Barnes, I have to root for as a Sactown product. He is now getting decent minutes and performing. He is doing a nice job and I am happy to see it.

I'm really happy for Barnes, too.:) Actually, I was glad Wallace was able to go somewhere where he was going to get more playing time and would be expected to produce. He used his opportunity to improve.

36 points tonight with 7 3-pointers.

Barnes took more shots than any other player on his team tonight, and took 16 three point shots. Strange to think this is the same Matt Barnes that we watched in a Kings' uniform...good for him that he's improved...not sure if he should be firing up 16 threes in a game, though.

he still stinks.

Umm....what?

Please elaborate on that.

I really don't get how that someone shooting damn near 50% from the field, and 45% from downtown sucks.

Throw in good defense, not a lot of TO's, some rebounds, a few assists, all around hustle.

I don't really get it.

I just know I'd rather have him on my team over Cisco or Corliss or maybe even Salmons.

the keyword there is "Throw"! you could "Throw" in a couple more blocked shots from brad miller and he may just be an all-star this year

By "Throw" I meant "In addition to."

The guy hustles, rebounds, plays decent d, and doesn't turn the ball over a lot, whcih goes with his suddenly good shooting.

Even if/when he returns to earth shooting wise, I'd still want him on my team over Cisco, Corliss, and still maybe even Salmons.

He definatly does not suck.

I want Corliss for locker room reasons, think he is a very servicable player. But yes over Cisco and Salmons for sure. Matt is doing awesome and I am glad he is getting the chance to play this year.
