Kris Humphries?

Apologies if I missed this one, but I think I read his contract is 8mil expiring this year and is one of the more solid rebounders in the league. I'll admit outside of being an excellent rebounder, I don't know a ton about his game, but would he be any sort of defensive/bench option for our team? Veteran presence, but Cuz is already an immaculate offensive rebounder, does he fill any need we might be able to fill even somewhat cheaply? If we resign JT and don't wind up with Drummond or Robinson, could Humphries be our round-out to an exceptional rebounding/defensive(again don't know much of his game) front court?

I'm very appreciative of any debate this may bring, but I'll admit now that I've never been much of a personnell movement kind of student, so I may be talking out my rear with this.

Does what JT does, only for twice the cost. No thank you.

well... not quite. I wouldn't bring both in, but I would certainly take Hump over JT. He's a better rebounder, a better man defender, a slightly better rim protector and they're around the same talent level offensively. Basically, if JT costs us 6 million, I wouldn't mind shelling out 2 million more a year to bring in Hump for 7-8 for Hump

Original poster was talking about signing both though. Now if we drafted another big player, and were deciding between JT and Hump, then maybe I would be more keen on agreeing with you. Keep in mind though that he was the only frontcourt option on a puzzlingly crappy team (Brook has been hurt for most of the past couple seasons).

Apologies, I meant if we DON'T resign JT**

I like Humphries, who has averaged a double/double two years in a row. From a techncial point of view, he's a better overall player than JT. He's a very underrated defender. I'd personally prefer to chase Ilyasova, who is younger, and appears on the verge of breaking out.

Remember, it was Humphries 6th and 7th seasons that he averaged a double/double, so in defense of JT, he's only played 4 seasons, and his first four are better than Humphries first four, for what thats worth. I guess it might come down to how much money we will have to pay JT as opposed to what it might take to aquire either Humphries or Ilyasova.

It still takes a lot of skill to rebound the way he has the last few years though. People lay into Brook for being a terrible rebounder, when his numbers have probably dipped because of Hump's emergence in that regard.

Either way, I agree with Bajaden about Ily. If we're allocating 6-8 mil on a PF from FA this off-season, I'd much rather throw that money at him. Great rebounder, post defender, has a crazy efficient offensive game, has a 3pt shot, and doesn't demand the ball on offense. Sign me up

Humphries is better than JT, but I know JT. JT will be cheaper. I'd rather save some money and stick with our guy.

I absolutely wouldn't want both, though. Too similar.
