faaark Kevvin Martin was a major dissapointment, 11 3pointers???!!! come on Kev that will not get it done
But freakin great debut by JT and nice game by Hawes with a double double and 6 blocks! Salmons carried us in the 2nd half

Hawes and JT played well offensively (though Hawes kind of disappeared in the second half for a while), but I'd like to see those guys put on about 25 lbs a piece to bang down low to get rebounds.

you have to look deeper into the game than win or loss right now. JT (Webberesque double double in 1st game?!), and Hawes (6blocks?!?!?!?!) were awesome. If Martin was on his game or we protect the ball better we win. I am encouraged, we never win our first away home openers.

I cant help but think if we can get some big (doesnt even matter if he is overweight) dude in the middle to take up space like Minnesota has, we would definitely have a better chance to win many games. Our guys were getting pushed around underneath as usual. I'd like to see how much we were outrebounded by and still managed to hang around.

Thompson and Hawes combined for 24 rebounds. Hawes had 6 blocked shots. What in the heck do you want, Wilt Chamberlin. I'd say we did pretty well rebounding the ball tonight.

The Kings outrebounded them 45 to 40.

Yes, I want Wilt. ;-)

It just didnt seem like it with Minnesota getting second and third chances when they had the ball. Kinda like the Minnesota announcers saying that they couldn't believe that Salmons didnt have 40 pts. haha

Martin is the difference between winning and losing tonight, did not shoot well.

Also I thought Kevin was the go to guy nd yet it's always in Salmons hands.

What are you talking about? On the last two possessions with the game on the line Kevin had his number called and missed.

Am I disappointed we lost? Of course. But I thought there were some nice positives named Spencer and Jason. :D Without Salmons tonight, we get thrashed. He had 8 assists, which was nice.

Kevin just flat out had a terrible game. Yes, he is our go-to guy, but when we went to him at the end, he just clanked another wide open shot. He didn't have it tonight. That will happen some nights. I just wish it hadn't been this game, which was at least winnable.

I really did enjoy JT's and Spencer's games tonight, tho.

The performance of the two young bigs will be the main barometer of how much I enjoy a game this season. So far, so good!

If you pin everything on the final score, there aren't going to be a lot of happy nights. :D

this is gonna be a long, long season.... hawes and thompson had good games though...

the kings were lucky that the twolves couldnt hit their freethrows or the score would have been higher....

missed most of the game. but was anyone else upset with the last play. think we should have gotten a better shot than a force by kmart

JT was really knocking down his shot tonight. Spence got most of his points in the first quarter, but I did like the fact that he was swatting some shots. A few of those were on Love too.

Well we can only get better, the future looks bright even though if this is based on the first game..

I know its only the first regular season game but, I'd replace Moore with JT right now - not wait. It's obvious he has way more overall talent than the skinny Snake charmer. To go one step further, I'd let Hawes continue to start after ZigZag Miller comes back from suspension. Obviously, Mikki and Miller will still get plenty of minutes since Shelden and KT should remain buried deep at the end of the bench all season long.

this is what everyone wanted. For Jason and spencer to show they have a future and believe me I know it's only the first game of the season and I really don't care that we lost

There's no one more competitive than me, well, maybe a couple of people, and I always want to win the game. But I'm with you on this one. As long as our young players continue to play well and grow, I can live with some defeats.

really enjoyed the game. that's all that matters to me i guess. loved the play of hawes and JT. some bad ball handling and a bad game from kmart cost us the game, but i don't find myself caring too much about the L.

good game.

They need some time to gel and make some adjustments but I think we'll be ok. Fun game to watch though, JT, Spencer, and John all played great. KMart and Beno will pick it up eventually. We might not be great but I'm not worried.

loved the two young guys down low. I feel like kmart is going to have a hard time trying to be our go to guy though

lets not get ahead of ourselves. Kevin had a bad game DON'T get used to it.

Now lets move on to Mikki Moore 0 reb in 20 f'n min. Thats awful. KT had 1 in 6min and Sheldon had 2 in 7min.

I asked the question in another thread weeks back of how long it would take before the first thread was started calling for Thompson to start over Moore. I have a feeling it will be before this road trip is over.

I'd like to see one tonight.

well said, i completeley agree

I'm so depressed.....i know its the first game but still....we could've had that.i did like our 2 young bigs.for me everything went to hell went kenny came in

Reggie theus is slowly pissing me off, i have a feeling that he is worried that Mikki will B**** and moan if he doesnt start...so he is just starting him to avoid nonsense.

Anyway i missed this game because of class/studying but i am very impressed from what i have heard along with looking at the boxscore. One thing i do now without watching, is the fact that salmons has got to go. He is on the level of Artest if not higher in terms of hogging the ball. It seems to me that he just has no court vision.

I disagree completely on dumping on Coach Theus here. He's said over and over that those who start and who get most minutes is based on individual production, playing hard, effort in practice. Reggie does not really play favor with vets to excess, but gives some respect in starting and minutes - but not to a fault. Simply put, if JT out performs Mikki in a few more games (like maybe on this opening road trip), does well in practice, the rookie could very well find himself starting at PF. Theus could care less what the old battle ax vet thinks - making the dredlocks dude eat his off the wall words aimed at Kings coaches last year in a forced apology in front of teammates.

I suggest viewing the actual game before commenting with such certainty about Salmons tonight. He had a very good all around game and was by far the best wing player on the floor. As the poll shows - one of the top three Kings players against the Wolves.
