You must’ve forgotten some of the games this year with Fox playing with a full squad and the team getting destroyed.
Lets see what happens when Fox comes back now that Haliburton has found some more confidence, while hopefully under Doug Christie. Fox is the only thing on this roster that can consistently put a team on his back and create plays. With Haliburton finding his way under a coach like DC maybe it does click finally.

This Hali with Middy/paint Fox could be something really special. And honestly, how many games have they both clicked together? Maybe like 3 all year?

Good news: Tyrese has five turnovers so if he keeps up this pace, he's got that stat covered.

Bad news: He's going to have to pick up the assist pace to get to ten by the time he's pulled from the game once we're down by 30.

Or Alvin Gentey comes back, the team completely gives up trying on defense, Hali takes a backseat, and we lose a bunch of games 150-120. :p

We can blame Fox all we want for holding back Hali, but things aren't going to open up for him with the staggering amount of chuckers and me-first players on the team.
The Fox narrative has gotten to the same point Boogie's did where some people somehow came to believe that the team would automatically solve all of its problems just with the simple act of getting him off the team. There are other, more pressing issues to solve than the best player on the team.

Come on man, you know it isn’t that. People want him off because it’s very possible he’d bring back some substantial pieces at a position we could use at the expense of the one position we have depth of actual useful players.

Fair statement, but my point is that Fox - The Kings franchise player - doesn’t change the fortunes of this team.
And that's fine, just don't put it on 22-24 year old tapped out rookies to pick up the slack. Over how many years have we just seen the blame get tossed on the laps of less capable players. It's not fair. Productivity is better than none, but productivity doesn't always equal ability.

OR... not a single person believes that. One or the other.

People made similar arguments about Center being a position of strength for the Kings with Boogie though. "Move him for a couple of good 'team players' because you've still got Willie, Skal, and Kosta there."

The problem with trading the best player on your team is that it rarely works unless it's in a trade for another straight up star or as a part of a bigger rebuild.

The only reason the Boogie trade wasn't a complete disaster was that it made us bad enough that we were high enough in the draft to get an impact player (who we're now trying to trade to initiate the same process yet again).

Trading Fox for Sabonis or Simmons even in its best case scenario bumps us up from a 11-8tth seed to a 9th-6th seed. Now getting one of those guys on the team with Fox and Haliburton and Barnes? That could actually lead to something in the near future. But if you're doing something like trading Fox for RJ Barrett and roster filler and draft assets, that's not going to get us anywhere unless it's in conjunction with more moves as part of a larger teardown.

Yep. And arguably Monte hasn't set this team up at all to be able to suck nearly as well.

There isn’t an untouchable guy on this roster of other teams are paying up. Hali’s closest, I have zero qualms trading Mitchell if the offers right. (I have no idea what that offer is, but if it’s there)
Yeah in general I agree. I think I'd want a somewhat unrealistic package to consider moving off the 2 rookie contracts of Hali/Mitchell. Again, they're the kind of talents you hope to get when you trade your vets for picks/young pieces.
