[Game] Kings v. Trailblazers - 4/5/16 - 7 PT, 10 ET

Sure.

And...so what? The only person losing money over the deal was Cuz. It was a game were the consensus was we probably didn't want to win it and the front office certainly went to lengths searching for that result. The playoffs are long gone (actually not so long, we weren't officially eliminated until April, likely a first in a decade). So...so what?
Who said there needs to be a 'so what' to my response? It was stupid. That's the point.

However, I'll bite because I'm feeling argumentative today...

Your reasoning is very short sighted. You're only thinking in terms of this year. Cousins' image & reputation easily carries over into next year (a year that is crucial to compete). Maintaining or further worsening your reputation among NBA officials not only isn't going to help you this year, but it's not going to help you next year when it's opening day and the kings record is 0-0. Cousins has dug himself into a hole with the refs. That's not to say he can't be a great player playing in this hole, it just goes to show how much more helpful he could be. Getting the superstar treatment on foul calls and not giving away free points through technicals can help this team. The amount it helps can be debated, but it helps us nonetheless.

Sure, if you want to live in the bubble that is this season, then who cares, but that's not our situation.

I could agree with you except for one thing. Coach Mike Malone had these guys buying in. He had most of us Fans buying in. The Kings were actually playing DEFENSE. We all saw how Cousins respected Malone. The other Coaches had adversarial relationships with their Star player, including Karl. What did Malone do differently?

As far as that little push of Henderson the other night you are making it out to be something I did not see. That is why I posted the Vids of actual physical action requiring Ref intervention. What goes on with Cousins is more like what you see in WWF.

I think Cousins needs Coaching on how to interact with the Players and Refs. Yes I know he has been here SIX years but look at those SIX years, it has been a dumpster fire for most of that time.

Every person has flaws and I just think too much emphasis is being placed on Cousins.

He is not the reason the Kings are losing.

The Kings need a Players Coach that understands how to work WITH Players and a couple of good wing defenders who can hit the three ball.
I only reference that little push because it's the latest incident of a long line of incidents. And, it was more than a little push. Let me put it this way, if I was in a bar with my back turned talking to someone, and someone came up and pushed me from behind like Cousins did, we would have been at war. Cousins isn't god. He doesn't have the right to just push people for no apparent reason, other than they seem to be in his way. I realize he has a warriors mentality on the court, but when you lose the game, it's not your opponents fault. So the excuse is, that Henderson was a little chippy during the game? So what? Would he have pushed Larry Bird? He was known to get a little chippy during the game.

By the way, most of the incidents were talking about have nothing to do with who the head coach is. I do think that Malone got him to be a little more restrained, but trust me, he still had something to say to the ref's after every play where he thought he got fouled. It's been one of my pet peeves with him since he's got here. If you want to talk to the ref's, do it during a time out or a dead ball situation. Not when the game is going on. It's selfish and disrespectful to your teammates. I could even overlook a lot of his technical's if he could just stop doing that. I can only speak for myself, but if I was one of his teammates, it would pee me off. You don't care enough to show up on the defensive side of the floor, then why the hell should I?

I'am so frustrated right now, that a player as talented as Cousins, continues to shoot himself, and the organization in the foot. But what bothers me even more, is that I don't see any remorse from him. No admission that he might have done something wrong. I fear that one day, his temper will cause him to punch someone, and I'm reminded of Kermit Washington where one punch ended his career, and eventually ended the career of Rudy Tomjanovich. Hopefully nothing like that will happen, but Cousins needs to realize he has a problem if he has any chance of changing. I'm not sure he's listening.

Look, we can agree or disagree, but each of us live by our own principles. I'm willing to bend my principles if I think the person is young, and needs time to mature. But there arrives a time when the end of the rope is in sight. Old habits die hard, and I think Cousins has bad habits that are imprinted. We all get angry at times. We all get angry with co-workers, or even our bosses. But we restrain ourselves because of the consequences of doing otherwise. Apparently the consequences that Cousins suffers aren't having much of an impact on him. I suspect they have a much bigger impact on the team.

100% with his "warrior mentality" he would not have pushed Z-BO

Continues to baffle me. Kids who have had to grow up in the age of "microaggressions" I can understand. Maybe. But people who have lived through more...how on earth does this get so twisted.

I mean:

Hakeem fighting current Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak:

our part owner Shaq trying to kill our former center Brad:

Mournign v. Rodamn, HOF v. HOF:

(Rodman remaining one of the most hilarious players in any sport to watch)

Classy HOF Dr. J. and not so classy HOF Charles Barkley double team HOF Larry Bird:

our current GM macroaggresses JR Reid:

And so on and so forth. And yet DeMarcus Cousins is such a scary guy. OMG, he bumped a guy from behind. He got a T! Oh the humanity! What a menace!

I mean, WTH?

As much as I like Cousins, as much as I never want to see him traded, as much as I have watched the old school basketball era, there's no way you can look at his behavior and say he shouldn't improve. Is he a good enough player for me to put up with it? You better your @ss, but giving into your emotions, losing your focus, giving the other team free points, being tossed from games, etc. should be seen as a negative when assessing Cousins as a player.

What do parents tell their children? It doesn't make it okay just because lil Johnny over there did it. Just because people got in fights in the past, it doesn't make it okay for Cousins to do so. What did our history teachers tell us? Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it?

Having said all of that, I agree that his antics are blown out of proportion by many here. Trading Cousins because of his behavior would be a colossal mistake, but just because it's not a big enough reason for me to trade Cousins, it doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see him improve in this area. It can only help the team, and I'm all for helping the team.

Thanks for the videos! As someone who has only followed the NBA for the last few years I really appreciate it.
How on earth do players get t'd up and ejected for clapping and staring these days?

What did parents in the 80s tell their kids when Bill Laimbeer and the rest of the Bad Boys were employing less than friendly tactics to reach the top of the league? Boogie not being a cuddly teddy bear is going to have less of an outcome on your kid's development than, well, just about anything.

The "What about the children?!" argument is almost as run out as the inevitable Hitler reference or, I dunno, ending an "argument" with "soooooo...."

I recorded the Spurs Warriors game last night and started to watch it after the Kings game. Early in the game Tony Parker did a superb job of boxing out Draymond Green and a foul was called on Draymond for going over the top of Parker and getting the ball. Draymond went off on the Refs and got a Technical Foul and kept going off. Curry and Bogut interceded physically getting between the Ref and Green. Basically Green's team mates ran interference until Kerr could get Green out of the game and on the bench to cool off.

Draymond Greens antics are almost identical to DeMarcus Cousins. I don't approve of such antics and I don't think children should model themselves after these elite athletes who argue with the refs. Yes they act childish at times and because they are huge physical specimens some find it scary on some level. I do wish Cousins could be more subtle and crafty in his interaction with other players and the refs. I don't condone not getting back on defense although I think this year has amplified this because of the Kings pace.

That said I don't want to see Cousins traded. I want to see a players coach brought in who knows how to work with Cousins and the temperamental NBA player in general. The Kings need a couple of better wing defenders and I think Vlade knows this. See his attempt at bringing in Wes Matthews and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute.

I understand the frustration with the Kings. Cousins becomes the easy target here and in the media. As mentioned Grant beats the anti-Cousins drum on his radio show and Voisin does the same in the local Sacto rag.

Yes Cousins is a big mean looking player who yells at the refs too much. But he is OUR big mean looking player who yells at the refs too much. And I for one hope he stay with the Kings a long, long time.

Go Kings!!!, Go Cousins!!!

I think you really missed the analogy on that one. That wasn't a "what about the children, they'll copy DeMarcus!" That was a "We tell our kids that just because another kid is misbehaving doesn't make it OK, why should we change that attitude for DeMarcus and excuse his behavior based on what other people do."

The league is tissue soft maybe? every player that falls to the ground by a foul is reviewed for flagrant purposes and in return delays the game. New era, new rules. Have to adapt or move on.
