1-7 in last 8, 3-11 in last 14??? And we still will be punished with the play-in just because Suns will manage to lose more games???
Ugly offense, terrible defense - abysmal record.
At this time I just will wait for the next season to start. Sure, I still believe that Kings will show some pride and bite only to be let down again and again.
We have two good options: beat OKC in the first round or finish 11th. Everything else is meaningless.

Can someone remind me what it’s gonna take to keep our pick? Lol
The Kings keep their pick only if it's in the top 12 after the lottery. The easiest way to get there is if no more than 11 teams finish the season with worse records than we do. We'd still have to lose a play-in game if we're in the 10 seed since making the playoffs means you're pushed out of the lottery entirely, regardless of record. And there's a very small chance even if we do finish as one of the 12 worst teams that a team with a lower lottery seed (13 or 14) jumps into the top 4.

But basically, we don't need to be worse than Phoenix to keep our pick nor do we have to fall out of the 10 seed. Record is what matters for lottery positioning. We could also keep the pick if enough Eastern Conference teams finish with better records than we do. Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, and Chicago are clustered right around where we are in wins and losses so if you want to keep the pick root for those teams to win as many games as possible.

Kings can tank the rest of the season and possibly get down to #10 pick. Portland (has tiebreaker with better division record), Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, and Chicago can all finish ahead of us in the standings.

Orlando, Atlanta, and Chicago play each other some so I’m guessing there is a bit of splitting in their future. My best guess is Miami, Atlanta and Orlando all finish with 39 wins. Chicago with 38. Suns with 38 and the Mavs with over 41. The question is what do we finish with. We are 4-12 in our last 16 games. I’m guessing we beat Charlotte. Maybe we get one vs Cavs, Denver, Clips and the Pistons. Minor miracle if we get 2. And then I’d say we beat the Suns. That’s either 39 or 40 wins. If it’s 39 we would need to win a coin flip with one of the 39 win teams in the East to keep the pick.

If you look at the schedules for those East teams it’s going to be hard for them to get to 40 wins. Chicago is nearly impossible. So 39 is going to be the mark. Is possible we go 2-4 down the stretch. If we do that could secure us the 12. Portland would probably have to win all 5 of their games to have a chance at the play in game

As things presently stand we wouldn't need all of Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, and Chicago to win more games than us, just three of them. If we lose one more game and Miami wins one more game that would put us in a tie for the 12th lottery slot already and Miami has more "easy" games remaining than we do. Also, Chicago only has 6 games left but those 6 games are POR, CHA, CLE, MIA, WASH, PHI and they've been one of the best teams in the league for the past month (10-4 dating back to March 6th). I haven't given up hope on them helping us out with our lottery pick situation just yet.

But I would say that the most likely outcome here hasn't changed: the Kings are probably going to win 1 game too many to keep their pick. Especially if Phoenix decides to tank the final game of the season (in Sacramento). But a couple weeks ago keeping the pick looked almost impossible and now it looks merely improbable. So I guess what I'm saying is that we all still have something to root for whether that's making the playoffs or getting to draft another player in the late lottery.

I don't see how kicking this pick another year helps us in any meaningful way but I guess I don't know who in the 13/14 range we'd pick. Maybe I am wrong but the "greatness" of this draft talk from last year really seems to have cooled off, and it's really just top heavy with 1-2 seemingly a lock.

If we end up 12, you know it’s an 11 player draft.

I'm sure it will be a perfectly fine draft but people last year were talking up how bad last year was compared to this year like this year was another 2017. I'm pretty sure the main difference is nobody knew who to pick last year where everyone has Cooper as can't miss. Damn he looked good beating my Cats and is worthy of the pick but I don't think this class is remotely worthy of the hype from last year. We'll see I'm sure by draft day everyone will be pumped if we have a pick.

yeh this is just an ok draft after the top 2 picks. If we are going to blow things up then I’ll take the pick this year and tank one season next year. ‘26 is looking like a better draft. If we are going to trade one or two vets and try to compete next year I’d rather the pick convey this season and we have options for next season.

I wanted to make the play in as late as last week but I really don’t have any interest now unless we finish 5-1.

I don't think it's worse than last year's draft was for the range where we would be drafting and I also don't think it's obvious that 2026 is better either. There's a consensus top 3 of Cooper Flagg, Dylan Harper, and Ace Bailey this year and then after that it's an eye of the beholder situation for the rest of the lottery which is typical of most draft years. I would really like to have a number of of these guys if we find ourselves rebuilding in the next year or so...

Khaman Maluach is as big as Wemby and he can pass and shoot well enough to dream about his potential as a future franchise center. Derik Queen might be talked about as a Chris Webber type of player if anyone still cared about PFs. He's not a super athlete but he's sortof like a Julius Randle who actually cares about defense which is a pretty good player. Jeremiah Fears has some things to work on with his shot but he's already got the handle play PG in the NBA and he's only 18 years old. Egor Demin is a super talented playmaker in a 6'9" frame. Thomas Sorber and Rasheer Fleming would add to our front court depth in a meaningful way. I don't really think about any draft year as good or bad, just in terms of who is going to be available and would I want them on the team or not. This is actually a pretty good year to be looking for a frontcourt player I think, as we seemingly always are.

Are you not high on Boozer?

I didnt watch the game, but can say this - if you can not defeat wizzards, then you are in a deep crap...
Seems the team is lost: players without passion and coach without understanding. For sure DDR and Zach shouldnt be a part of this team next year.

I think DDR is definitely tradeable … pretty sure we’re stuck with Zach.
Slab im with you. I'm ok with Zach, and want DDR on the first plane out of here in off-season.

And it's not because he's a bad player either. He just does not fit at all with what we are doing. And he absolutely doesn't fit our timeline.

Carter, Zach, Keegan "new shot block pf" and Sabonis with monk and Ellis off bench seems ok to me next season

at this point the best I can hope is they at least end up 10th in the west so I don’t have to pay for another game of this old hopeless team.

I don’t think Slab is okay with Zach. Zach was literally one of the worse trades in Kings history considering Zach’s salary, play and the fact he is blocking Keon from his best spot.

Stuck with you means we are not trading him without attaching lots of assets.

I have to say tonights game did a number on me. I am always very positive about this team for many years now. Tonight I saw a team that does not want to fight for the playoffs. I personally feel they don't want to give 100 percent effort. I want a team that fights for every loose ball. that fights for every point, who defends the 3 point shot and all other shots as well. I also want a team that wants to win games much more than this old man right here. That means our individuals have to want to win and to give 100 percent every night. I have given this team 40 years of my life and many hours thinking and reading about the kings. We need to do something this off season. I dont care whether it is the front office or the coach or the players I want to see people with a will to win. Vivek, Monte, Doug and all the rest. Get it done

Well said. You see the guy next to my post, Tyler Hansbrough? Bring him in as an assistant coach or something. No one ever played harder, all the time, every practice, every game, than Tyler. Let him show how it's done.

let's go full tank... trade everything that is tradable and has value, keep carter-keegan-keon as a new core and lavine as a tank commander, untill his contract expires.

sabonis and monk should be first on the trading block, derozan as an expiring should go in february 2026 (maybe we can get some pick too), valanciunas can stay for a while but he also should be shopped...

and then, in the 2026 and 2027 drafts, we should have our own top 5 picks, by the summer of 2027. Lavine is paid and moved on, so from the 2027/28 season, we could start competing again. We could also tank longer, but Silver wouldn’t like that...
