[Game] Kings v. Thunder, 12/3/13 - 7 p.m. PST

What a fun game! It's hard to fault IT for taking the shot but this is the second game in a row he took a tough shot with a guy wide open on the wing to tie/win it from 3. I hope it something he keeps in mind for the next time.

Umm that hero ball made it a 2 point game... sometimes you need the best player on the court to take over the game
Yes and no. He's the main reason we were so close. But a few timely passes instead of forced shots could have put us over the top.

Here is a pic I took of my tv that shows how open Fish was.

IT was, simply put - AMAZING in that 4th quarter.
Anyone faulting him for single-handedly bringing the Kings back and threatening the win against one of the best teams in the NBA would be foolish.

I'm subject to give Thomas a pass on that one, for a change: when you have it going like he did, down the stretch, and the franchise is in street clothes, you've earned that shot.
Agree!
im usually the first one to jump on Isaiah for his Hero ball ways (see game thread from last game) but tonight there was nothing wrong with him taking that shot.

Think of it this way. If Cousins just got done dropping 21 in the 4th, would you want him passing to Salmons or Thornton on the final shot?

The answer should be a resounding no. And no one should expect him or IT or anyone to pass up the last shot after you've been absolutely torching the other team the 4th quarter. Wasn't like IT got a bad look either, he just unfortunately missed it.

Ya Isaiah is usually a little too ball hoggy and it's annoying but tonight I had no problem with him taking the last shot.

If Salmons or Thornton were open for a 3 to win the game? Sure. It's just a personal preference but I would rather go for the win than go for overtime against the Thunder. Which is why I also would have preferred IT pull up for one of his much loved transition 3s.

Again, this season, this is the script that helps the franchise. close games, give the ticket holders their money worth. Show improvement among the individual players and to the team, and end with the L for draft position.

The problem isn't so much that IT took the shot in my mind. Its that the thought of passing it even a single time NEVER entered his mind. He gets some of the most ridiculous tunnel vision. He's not like that the entire game but every time he hits consecutive shots, you can bet the house, the wife, and the kids that he is going to take a 3rd. If cousins had the ball in that situation i'd feel comfortable with him taking and missing because i know he would have ran through the other options if there was a better one....

Couldn't agree more. finally they are starting to get the "close entertaining games" part of that

And Thomas got a good shot. it wasn't like his terrible layup that had no chance against Bogut the other night. it was actually a decent shot he just missed it

Whatever. You can live in fantasy land if you think anyone who just dropped 21 in a quarter is going to pass over what turned out to be a good shot. There's not a single star player in the NBA who would do that.

Anyway, a lot of good game from tonight. Just go read the first 2 pages of what people thought this result would be without Cousins. Nice to know we can make a competitive game with one of the NBA's elite without him.

Exactly!
Guys, this was the BEST possible way this game could have played out.
Every competitive, exciting loss is a success this year.
Y'all should be buying IT waffles - he's perfect for this team right now.

You know, except for LeBron who had 17 points on 8-of-9 shooting in the fourth quarter in a game against Utah last year... and passed the ball to Haslem to take the final shot.

tin foil hat warning. There was not one guy on the team or coaching staff that wanted to loose tonight

That's like Durant passing to sefolosha because he's open

You're not making sense, dude.

IT is not Durant and MT is a completely different player than Thabo. Beyond that, I wasn't complaining about the last shot as I have no issue with it, so attempting to boil down the run of play for a quarter to a non-applicable comparison of a Durant to Thabo pass doesn't compute, at all.

Exactly. Lebron at least leaves the possiblity open. IT no. And guess what. IT isn't lebron, and we aren't championship contenders year in and year out with IT leading us to victory most of the time. As soon as he establishes a record like that, I'll be ok with him taking ridiculous shots. For now, id rather make the smart play.

I'm an IT guy myself.. The only way I saw him moved is if the front office felt he was contributing too much to meaningless wins.. Your not going to get equal value for him in a trade because of all the intangibles he provides, and as his numbers decrease from the torrid start he might not command too much of a contract

When he missed Malone went up to him and hugged him with a smile... No they are not trying to lose, they are professionals and competitors.. but the onus on them to win is not there like it is with 80% of the other teams in the league
