[Game] Kings v. Lakers - 12/6/13 - 7 p.m.

So do you want an aisle seat this time or a window seat?

I think he notices what JT brings, but feels the need to play PP/Chuck more mins because a) Landry will return and take mins from them and b) he needs to showcase them for potential trades as we're stacked with PF's.

Also, I think he might play MLM more mins, not so much because he deserves them but because he's slowly developing and improving from week to week and knows the experience is very valuable along with b) he needs to showcase MT somewhat for a potential trade.

We know PDA is very active in seeking trades. I don't think it's much of a jump to conclude Malone has been asked to play guys more mins who aren't in the long term plans.

I wouldn't mind that outcome.

Too bad Pat is playing himself down to being a small expiring contract rather than a 24 yo PF who can shoot. And Chuck is Chuck, play him enough to show he can still do what he does.

MT needs to get on a hot streak.

That entire fourth quarter was the worst coaching I've seen from Malone this year.

Rode IT/Thornton/Salmons/Patterson/Hayes way too long.

Why are Vasquez, McLemore and Williams coming in at the 3 and 2 min mark respectively?

No JT in the fourth quarter?

When Cousins is struggling to post up, why not run a pick and roll or something to get him into rhythm? The isos weren't working.

Yikes. This game was in the bag and was lost pretty much because of the rotation.

Malone has this weird fetish now with always attempting to keep the same group that starts the 4th quarter in for the entire quarter. It made sense when the starters gave a poor effort and the subs get you back in the game.....of course they deserve to stay in and finish the job. However he just does this every game now regardless of how well the starters are playing or how badly the reserved are playing. When your starters get you 87 points through 3 quarters and are playing really well........why would you not bring them back when the reserves are playing poorly?

Lets be honest here too, Malone had no intention of brining the starters back tonight but the 4th quarter bench players were so putrid tonight you saw around 3 minutes he finally came to his senses and panicked to get Williams and McLemore back in the game.....of course it was too late. You can't coach like that......when your starters are playing well you get them back in game around 8 or 9 minute mark in 4th.......so they don't cool off and stay in flow of game.

Malone is best coach they've had in a while and a good teacher but he has room for serious improvement when itcomes to game mmanagement......right now hes

I don't think I've ever seen him give a player a "quick rest". It's always park your rear on the bench for 8+ minutes of game. Next thing you know, it's 25 minutes of 'real time' since you were on the court. Flow and rhythm usually lost

you a kings fan or nah...?

I don't understand how a Kings fan isn't pissed off after this game

I understand the love and passion for this team, and the desire to beat the Lakers.. At the end of the day we aren't going to the playoffs this year, and there will be only one kind of seed we will be vying for if you get what I am saying. The most important thing is for our youth to develop positively

Just talking about the false statements thrown out to prove points. The thought that we should play IT and GV together. Just redundant
yet that combo is +15, which means that that combo is +15. which is +15. what part of that don't you get?

your argument against that is that it only worked in one of the 4 games we've actually won?

My only evidence are the stats. Ignore them at your own peril.

What has Vasquez done this season to earn playing time? Seriously if we want a big PG that does nothing get Salmons to run the point at least h will play better D.

My guess is that they think the offseason injury may be a part of the slow start and since he's a free agent (and someone who gets others involved), they want to give him a while to see if he improves.

Then play McLemore and Williams most or all of the 4th! Let them get as much end of game experience as possible!

Dude is trash he's holding the team back everytime he's in the game we suck

Why don't the new fans have perspective?

Our issues run much deeper than the final score. There's many aspects to this franchise at work right now. In order to trade and receive value for pieces we don't want, we have to show they have value so we receive value in return, and the only way to do that....is to play them.

Do I agree with every sub pattern, especially in the 4th? Heck no, but there's more going on behind the scenes here. There's more to this than just playing our best 35+ mins per might. Might that get us another win or two? Sure, but it would also have a negative effect on the value of players we're trying to move. And anyone who's followed this team for years realizes we have a number of contracts we need to move one way or another.

I've slammed every recent coach we've had, from Westy to Theus to Natt to Musclehead to Smart, yet it's clear Malone has a better grasp on what we have and what we don't have, who fits into what roles, playing guys to their strengths and we finally have a set hierarchy, and he's balancing developing this team with showcasing players for a GM who publicly admits he wants to make multiple moves.

Simply looking at 4th quarter subs and the final score is shortsided when taking into account the situation in its entirety. You've got to balance the short term vs the near term vs the long term.

I agree. I had high hopes for PatPat but he just seems to be fading.

It's a lie I,could say me and my son is +30 doesn't make it true just true that I typed it. If any idiot wants to believe it they can

I blame NBA2Kxx for a lot of the lack of perspective.

I would think that getting McLemore and Williams some fourth quarter experience is more important for the future of the franchise than whatever nominal value Thornton, Salmons and Patterson can scrape up by playing.

That was the conclusion I came to too. It felt like he was coaching that 4th by coaching last game, or even much of the season, but not the current game.

Entity, I know you've been here long enough to know that Capt. Factorial doesn't make **** up, when it comes to numbers. If he says that combination is +15 then, by all means, try and get him to tell you where he got the figures from, but you can take it to the bank that if he says those are the numbers, then those are the numbers, and he can back it up.

If we continue to "showcase" players that have no business finishing games for us, I may have to take a break from watching our team for a while

If we'd just lost to the Jazz, I'd be laughing while disgusted. But this is hated Lakers so I'm seething mad, totally disgusted the way we folded and gave it away tonight.
well lucky for you, you get to test that out tomorrow night to see how you actually feel when it happens

Malone may very well have made mistakes in the 4th of this game.

But I'm considering the picture in its entirety and what Malone has shown since day one. Likely should have played Williams a few more mins and should have brought MLM back a little earlier. I'm hardly discouraged though.

You need to take that up with the Capt., then; I never said that the numbers proved anything, I said he didn't make them up.

This is how I saw the game. While I was disappointed in the outcome, right now is the perfect time to let Ben and Williams learn how to play in the 4th and close out games. To be honest, by the way they played for the first 3 quarters, they earned the right to be out there.
