Lou looks pitiful on offense cause he is, All Lou is is an energy and rebounding guy just like Michael "the animal" Smith was. Price and Salmons looked good tonight and Miller looked good early and the rest of the guys were not too good. A telling stat that concerns me is that Ron Artest got 0 rebounds. We need rebounding from Ron.

164 v 109

I'm certainly not calling this a positive. However, on top of not panicking over one preseason game here's a brief Suns-Kings comparison:

Suns top 6 - 164 minutes
Kings top 6 - 109 minutes

Suns players used - 11
Kings players used - 14

Again, this doesn't mean we would have beat the Suns straight up, but let's understand they gave their top players a much longer look, while the Kings looked at a lot of bench players and played their starters 55 less minutes.

Good game? No. Time to hit the panic button and predict no playoffs? No.

Best part of the game: Assuming our starters will be fine, it's nice to see Salmons and Price play so well against real Suns players as opposed to the Mavs and Lakers scrubs.

Salmons

A question here. Did anyone get to actually watch the game? It wasn't playing in LA.

I like what I saw of Salmons in the LA game and he has had good stats. My biggest concern though is that in the LA game it was all drives and FTs, I did not see him hit a single jump shot. While that does not necessarily kill a player (see Hughes and Pippen) and can improve (see BJax), I'd still feel better about this year's performance if I saw him hit some.

So if you watched the game, were any of the 5 shots he hit jumpers tonight?

John hit a couple jumpers from the midrange area. And he created most of his own offense too. I am really liking this guy so far.

I don't really think you can draw too many negative conclusions about this game. This was the 3rd game on the road and the 3rd game in total for this Kings team. The starters didn't bring much energy tonight but Ron looked good in the post, pretty much dominated there. He even took Amare down low pretty easily.

As Musselman said before they are not even scouting other teams at this point. They are more worried about what they are doing themselves. They still need to figure out what they are doing on offense. They will in time.

Thank you SacTown, that makes me feel good. Salmons does not need to be a premier 3 point shooter, but we need those mid rangers so he is not just another version of our young Gerald Wallace.

Ah yes, but the hole in that theory is that the Suns kicked the crud out of our top 6 (if #6 is Reef rather than Salmons) in those 109 minutes, and it was really when the game went down to those 6-11 and 6-14 guys that we made up ground.

I do think we have to consider that this is the third pre-season game AND third road game AND it's after a brief little "holiday" in Las Vegas.

:)

That's what happens on those imfamous "one foot on the plane games".

As crazy as Ron may sound, after the game he proclaimed the Kings will be one of the very best teams in the league when they gel, he does have a point. This is a great learning experience and that is what the preseason is about but these guys need to gel. I like Muss' idea of not worrying about the other team and just trying out different things. It will help in the long run. .

We sucked against the Suns, especially the starting 5. Bibby's defense looks the same as last years, where every and any PG gets past him. Salmons is starting to really surprise me.

Salmons shouldn't be surprising you he is good. He will be this team's sixth man and in the running for the award IMO. Also why are people putting so much stock in preseason games? It is preseason people who cares. If it was the real games than yes be concerned but until they lace them up for real on November 1st don't worry about it. Oh and BTW I am going to the game tonight, can't wait. =)

Uh, it's safe to say the Suns are a better team right now. They're a well oiled machine with some great pieces. We have the potential but have a lot more hours to put in before we can reliably beat an elite team at home. The Mavs and Lakers games don't count.
