The cardinal rule of coaching is that you LEAVE a hot player on the court and bench the players who aren't playing well. Westphal doesn't seem to internalize this simple fact.
It might not be my place to point this out, but he Kings aren't exactly in contention this season. So Westphal's primary goal is developing players and chemistry, more then just winning games. It's important to keep that in mind when assessing his decisions.

the trio kmart-evans-casspi should be in 30-40 minutes in the game. Donte should be in 20-30 minutes. Thompson and Hawes alternating. Udirh should switch evans as point guard when he isn't it. Udoka and Nocioni should play - 10 minutes a game, Sergio close to 0.

Who exactly are you saying is the hot player by the way? Casspi? He is 2-2 with one turnover. The way we spread our shots around it's doubtful we would see someone actually be on fire.

I've never really understood that. It's basketball, not Hockey. Why do they bench all five guys (or at best 4 out of 5) at once rather then switch out one or two guys at a time?
They always sub guys in and out. Usually one or two at a time. It doesn't make much sense to play a guy in 12-15 min stretches. You will rarely see that unless its a very important game, its close, and its the 2nd half.

Hall of Famer
it is a team game

there is no such thing as improving by addition. Marting being back doesn't mean that the team will play better

Guys, it is going to take a while for Westphal to work everything out. He has to figure this out along with everyone else. How about giving the guy more than 15 mins to figure this out before jumping all over him?

COY would be silly in this situation. The easiest coaching job to take (relatively speaking) is coaching the worst team of the previous season. The only direction the team can go is up and the coach can take credit for it, get a raise, etc... Why do you think Bill Purcell wanted to coach the Dolphins. Its much easier to improve the worst team than to keep the best team in their place.
i was saying Casspi was playing well because of his defense on Andre, not because of his shooting.
I just don't agree with his rotations.
